  1. That 88 mph smoke is really foolin em there Benny. What the hell.
  2. Not that I'm particularly interested or anything but.... the Weeks and Cameron 1-2 combo has to be the biggest 1-2 rear end combo in the majors. Had to be said.
  3. It's on FSN here in Green Bay, even though it says Northern Sun Showcase should be on.
  4. It does seem as though Sheets always tries to add a cut-fastball (last year) and/or a changeup. He's had a change for years, he just never feels real comfortable using it. I remember games where he used at maybe 5-8 times. I wanna see him face Jenkins this year so he has to throw a few changeups. Good point about Cappy. I'd really like to see him develop a curve or a better slider. He's pretty much a 2-pitch pony. When he can locate his fastball somewhat, he gets away with it, because he has a really good changeup. Thats why Sheets gets away with 2 pitches, cause his curve is so good.
  5. Vargas does indeed give up a lot of homers, but looking at last year, he was fairly in-line with the rest of the staff. Bush was actually the big loser in that department giving up 27. 2007 home run totals: Bush: 27 Vargas: 23 Capuano: 20 Suppan: 18 Sheets: 17
  6. Its a WMLW broadcast, where they usually don't have the game listed on the Guide in the App/GB area. It should be still shown on FSN though, hopefully with the same random and abrupt breaks to commercials I grew to know and love from last year. There's gonna be a lot channel flipping for me with 3 good college bball games on and the Crew.
  7. Gopher, one area we disagree is I am a huge proponent of Villy in the starting rotation. I'm sure he could handle the bullpen utility role again just fine, but I think he'd be more valuable starting. Speaking of adding new pitches. Apparently Bush started throwing a slider and changeup in the game yesterday. What the heck is going on with all these new changes and added pitches??? Turnbow's new grip on his fastball Moto's more straight up delivery Vargas' change Bush adding a slide and change Maddux growing a fu man chu All hell is breaking loose.
  8. A mentally tough head case? My head is spinning just trying to think about that.
  9. Because Yost said he was going to be sending 2 major league caliber pitchers down to the minors, can we infer that Vargas is safe? I guess it's possible he was thinking about Vargas' situation... but it didn't seem like he just said that spur of the moment. It seemed like it was something he has been dwelling on for some time... sending two pitchers to the minors, and he wasn't going to enjoy it.
  10. As far as nibbling goes, I thought Bush could have done that a little more of it with his fastball last year. Too many meatballs from him imo.
  11. The fact that they can't send Vargas down to the minors will definitely play a factor.
  12. Claudio added a good changeup or vastly improved his existing one to his repertoire of pitches over the off season. He also seemed to be working a little bit faster and had decent command. Funny thing is the announcers said last night that he didn't pitch in the Dominican Republic this Winter like he normally does. Those were just some of my overall impressions from watching him for the first time this year. I know he's not the sexy pick to make the rotation, but it certainly looks like he is bringing his A game. For what little impact these spring games may have on Ned's decision, he's certainly making the most of them. Anyone else impressed by his outing?
  13. lineup: 2B Joe Dillon CF Mike Cameron 1B Prince Fielder LF Ryan Braun 3B Bill Hall RF Gabe Kapler SS J.J. Hardy P Claudio Vargas C Jason Kendall
  14. Like this... Ben Sheets Jeff Suppan Carlos Villanueva Chris Capuano Dave Bush Eric Gagne Derrick Turnbow David Riske Salomon Torres Brian Shouse Guillermo Mota Claudio Vargas This may be getting slightly offtopic, but Gallardo will be on the DL, so it'll be a lot easier to keep 12. The 3 possibilities of making the 13th spot would be Stetter, McClung, and Parra. Parra and Stetter can go to the minors. The only guy they'd risk losing is McClung. Unless Parra wins a spot, they don't really have to make any tough decisions if they keep 13 arms.
  15. They need all 5 starters for the beginning of the season. They'd have to pitch at least one guy on 3 days rest if they only used 4 starters. They have 2 options: 1. Keeping Sheets on the every 5th day schedule, which in turn makes it so you only need your fifth starter a few times (but you still need him). 2. and less likely... They stick with the order in the 5 man rotation giving everyone an equal amount of starts, which would give Sheets a few less starts than would the first scenario.
  16. My best guess is they intend to keep 13 pitchers, send Dillon down, and keep Kapler. Then probably get rid of a pitcher when Cam comes back.
  17. I found that Derrick Brooks did it... there's gotta be others tho.
  18. --------------------------------- Note: I've copied all the posts in this thread over to LambeauLeap. Has any NFL player won a championship at all 3 levels? Feel free to continue the discussion over there. --1992casey --------------------------------- I know most of the interests on this site are related to baseball, but this question is driving me nuts. I haven't found an answer yet so I thought I'd try here... High school, College, and in the NFL. I know Addai won in college and pro, but I didn't see a hs one. Does anyone know of someone who has completed the trifecta??
  19. What are the odds the brewers get a stolen base tonight without hart and weeks? 100,000 to 1 I say.
  20. Yost will give Capuano another shot At least we know there's some kind of leash on him...and Yost won't stick by the "he was an all-star" excuse for the rest of the season. I really hope Cappy turns in a good start, but if he can't... it has to be time to make a change.
  21. sounds like this is gonna happen. How dumb does that Carlos Lee for Podsednik deal look now for the Sox?
