  1. Oh, sorry. I guess I could have started the chant, but I'm not sure enough of the casual fans around me would have known what I was talking about. I really do try to keep an open mind and not be an out-and-out hater. I didn't join in on the boos (no one who was making an "oooo" noise was saying Sooouuup). But if this game didn't illustrate to the organization why using Jeff anymore is a problem - much less in a close game - I don't know what will. His appearance took the life out of the crowd (except for those who still had energy to boo, which isn't the kind of "life" you want out of your audience). I remarked on this to our usher, and he asked if I'd noticed how the body language of the position players changed once Soup was doing his thing. Indeed, he had a point. I understand that the alternatives weren't numerous or terrific, but putting Suppan in a close game appears to be tantamount to waving the white flag. It damages fan morale for sure, and very possibly team morale as well. Stop the madness. I'd rather see the Brewers get nothing more out of their $12+ million than continue to get negative value. OK, with that behind me...bummer to see the blowup inning for Braddock, but maybe (hawing said hopefully) this was his "bad inning" and the woes are behind him. In any case, seeing a newbie struggle doesn't bother me nearly as much as...some. Also, Jonathan Lucroy must have checked the internets enough since Tuesday to learn of my fan crush on him, as in his long 9th inning at-bat he did his best to deliver a foul ball souvenir directly to our section. Had I reached for the one that came closest to me (and bounced off the stair next to me hard enough to carom back to the field level), I would have lost a finger. Well - the trip to Florida this time last year certainly changed courses for the 2009 Brewers. Maybe it will change course for them in 2010.
  2. Will this leave the Marlins demoralized or motivated? (just in time for the Brewers' trip there)
  3. /geeking out/ Nice! Thanks for getting the screen grab.
  4. Way to bend without breaking, Brewers! Please bring a good effort on Sunday. The Sunday Plus people love you too.
  5. The girls up the block from us are now old enough to play outside a lot...and they are squealers.
  6. I'd love to see Bill spend some time at every position this season...just because. I believe he's at six positions played to date.
  7. Weren't the Bears in existence only briefly? I wonder how the Brewers have been able to (accurately) use both the white + black pinstripe and the blue/cream uniforms to honor them.
  8. Ooh, burger run already. Every little bit helps. Does this mean Kottaras will own the 2-spot for a while now? Because it worked that one time.
  9. The June 8-10 Cubs games are among the dates included on the Brewerfan discount list, as is the Friday 6/25 game vs. Seattle. Just pointing that out. July dates are now available too.
  10. All the more reason to DFA Vargas: Brewer fans will only have to keep track of one CV. Thanks for trying, Claudio.
  11. I hope you're right, as this is what I would have preferred from Opening Day. Diego is the only Brewer for whom I can't even cast a Brewer loyalty vote on the all-star ballots. Nice piece of two-out magic in the bottom of the first there. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif The Mets' SP experience there was all too Brewer-esque.
  12. Did you just tonight whip up that avatar, thablingster? or did you have it in reserve, knowing this day would come? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. C'mon, what had Yo done for us lately, compared to Corey? The radio team got it right.
  14. I couldn't tell either. The camera angle had me excited, but how many times in the past couple of years have we been screwed where the camera makes it look like it's going out only to have it be caught at the warning track. Cory Provus didn't sound sure...but looking at the replay, The Doorman had no doubt. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Nice work, Corey, my uber-tatted guy. And Yo...remember how tonight felt.
  15. I thought about saying, "when Sabathia wore Brewer blue," but if you mean a better pitch count than the opposing starter, I think it has happened at times since 2008. Feel free to come chat about it.
  16. If the Brewers can come out on top of a Mike Burns-Johan Santana matchup (as happened last year), I think anything might be possible.
  17. pretendastronaut might have decided to return to color once the Brewers won a series?
  18. If my callup count is accurate, then "re-return" is OK. Callup #1 was just a callup; callup #2 was the return of Stern; and this one (#3) is the re-return. Give it time; there may well be a re-re-return opportunity for Adam.
  19. I guess better late than never? Edit: Adam's going to get whiplash at this rate. He could need the DL himself!
  20. The post-game press conference might be worth listening to. I guess backing your way into an ugly win and a series win is better than being in Houston's position right this minute. Not by much.
  21. Well, under the whole-game circumstances I guess I'll accept bonus baseball. I hate to think of who pitches the 10th, though.
