  1. Brewers, Brewers, keep turning up the heat. Just break the knob right off.
  2. way to leave him in to long Ned In hindsight, obviously. Without hindsight...on one hand, that's quite a jam; but on the other, Vargas has escaped a heck of a lot this season. On the third hand, that's bound to catch up sometime. But Ned doesn't have three hands to reason that far. Oh well, time to buckle down now.
  3. Jimbo just stopped by my library. I gave him a game update. Hi Jimbo! (in case he visits this thread later)
  4. I just got back from lunch. Me likey so far. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif And I'm very curious to know what the Uecker call was.
  5. Looking at that Zito picture, I want to tell him, "Head On, apply directly to the forehead." Keep going, Brewers. Be the entertainment in my Wednesday work day.
  6. Judging by Lincecum's picture, he's a day late. Little league night was last night. Yeah, I saw his pic and wondered briefly what grade he's going into. Meanwhile, I'll try not to worry excessively about J.J. Heal up, dreamboat!
  7. Does anyone else think (as lame as this is) that his inside-the-park HR has gotten him a lot more nationwide votes? I heard about Prince edging ahead of Albert during the game last night, and frankly, TLB, that was the first thought both the SO and I had. That ITP homer got enough airtime to lead to a bump the next day. If the Brewers had just completed a homestand instead of a road trip, I might have thought that extra local voting did the trick; but that's not the case. Here's hoping that Albert doesn't suddenly get a lot of air time for a freak play that goes his way.
  8. I will be sitting in section 118 row 1. I can't wait I have never been that close to action! I hope you've got a camera. Have a good time.
  9. Sorry, Nashville. I want Yo to stay with Milwaukee. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Except for parts of CV's and Coco's outings, that game was completely fun. The crowd was not only large but enthusiastic and appreciative. Most stayed until the end - not bad for a weeknight. I walked on the concourses for a little while after the early innings, and realized I had a giddy grin on my face - from the youngsters' success, and the crowd's genuine *and justifiable* Brewers excitement. Wow. Could have done without the rain, though, which is why I'm only posting at 1:00 AM.
  10. It's also Little League Night and a Time Warner customer appreciation night. Both of those promotions have surely added to the crowd for tonight, Yo or no Yo.
  11. The Woodard game is probably my favorite 90's Brewer memory. We were at that game! More specifically, at those games, as it was a doubleheader vs. Toronto. Steve Woodard made an impressive debut in game one and the Brewers turned a triple play in game two.
  12. It's also my niece's birthday. But she's 3, so I think that chimp with the cake might scare her.
  13. Well, I have a Davis jersey now (the Brewers' holiday rummage sale was the weekend after his trade, and Tom felt sorry for me). So I might wear it tonight - at least from the front I'll look like I'm solidly on the bandwagon. Some of Sunday's chat room population suggested I mar the authentic, game-worn jersey with duct tape to cover up DAVIS and write in GALLARDO. Perhaps if Yo proves to be "as advertised", I'll seek out G-A-L-L-A-R-D-O letters. Heck, I've got a D and one A already - I can just reuse them. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. Prediction: 7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K. Who commits the error, Brian? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. This is strange. Somehow (and in the context of this thread, surprisingly) I've managed to pretty much avoid the problems described here. We have had Charter in Madison since they took over Bresnan or whatever the predecessor was. We have had expanded basic cable the whole time. The service is fine - we rarely see outages or get poor reception. We (I should say "I" because the account is in my name) don't get incessant offers to upgrade the cable, or add phone or DSL service - and you'd think they'd at least want me to switch to digital cable. We haven't so far for two reasons: 1. we underutilize enough channels already, with just the 70-some in our current package; and 2. because we hear so many complaints about digital cable. At some point I assume they'll make everyone switch to something digital, and then I expect to be adding to either this thread or something like it. We do get lots of mail offers from TDS (who supplies our phone service) asking us to please please please add DSL, but we just recycle those (keep the recycle bin outside the house, and they don't even cross our threshold). When the day comes when I have to choose DSL, we'll probably go with TDS because my brother-in-law works there.
  16. Too bad you can't readily make over the Doug Davises into Yovani Gallardos - since according to the Brewers' website, Yo's the next Brewer to don the big 4-9.
  17. http://www.smoy.it/fotologlike/yo.jpg Welcome to Milwaukee! I'll see you there Monday night.
  18. Yeah, it's my moderator group photo. And you'll never guess which one is hawing.
  19. And my favorite exchange: Ueck: I tell ya, when the Brewers hit their next inside the park homerun and they look back to see who hit the last one, and they see Fielder's name... (laughter) Ueck: Of course it'll probably be you and you'll remember it. JP: And you'll be right here with me. That is a good one, Islands. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. Ahh, thanks. Somehow I thought it was related to the image on the calculator screen. 89? Really? Wasn't it just 92 like yesterday? I could live with this pace for a while yet.
  21. How long do you think it'll be before some Cub misses time due to injury caused by brawl, in-team fistfight, or other similar activity?
  22. Yes, please help out us clueless types. And here I thought I was a nerd.
  23. Last weekend we were at a graduation party on the S.O.'s side of the family. His sister-in-law remarked to me about the Brewers' chances of getting into the playoffs, and added that the would surely be some postseason games that we couldn't attend (implying that we would make our tickets available to her). I won't repeat exactly what I was thinking, because I want to keep Brewerfan beautiful; but the chances of that happening are mighty slim. I would be kind of incensed if after 15 years of buying partial game packs, we were shut out of a World Series. Actually, I might be more than "kind of" incensed. Edit: Yes, 20fry, we have a 20 game pack. So in the context described above, it makes sense we didn't get the letter.
  24. The Brewers sent out letters recently explaining the playoff ticket policy... How recently? I don't remember seeing that.
