  1. Well, we are two outs away. C'mon, Doug Davis!!! EDIT: ONE MORE OUT! EDIT TWO: REDS ON THEIR FINAL STRIKE! EDIT THREE: Sean Casey with a double. EDIT FOUR: BOOK IT! THE STREAK IS AT EIGHT!!! Doug Davis with a COMPLETE GAME five-hitter, allowing only one unearned run!! His ERA drops from 4.85 to 4.29! In a total of 19.2 IP with the Brewers, he has allowed only THREE (3) earned runs. I think we have our #2 starter, folks.
  2. Wow... 6.2 IP, 0 earned runs, 1 hit, 1 walk... I knew he'd be a good pickup - but I was expecting to have to TRADE for him. Instead, we got him for nothing more than pro-rated elague minimum. I'm ready toput him into the 2004 rotation, folks. On our way to 8 straight wins. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  3. If we had signed Nomar Garciaparra... If we had kept Molitor... If we Higuera and Eldred hadn't been hurt after signing long-term deals...
  4. Uh... Doug Davis, has posted a 2.41 ERA with the Brewers. So far, so good. Let's see if he can keep it up. He's done pretty well so far in his two starts, keeping the Crew in the game.
  5. One will see a lot of fastballs in that spot. Of course, JJ Hardy may also be ready by `04, in which case Bill Hall plays second base. So where do we put Ginter?
  6. Will we make it 8 in a row? By the way, does anyone here think Doug Davis deserves a shot to be in next year's rotation?
  7. If the Reds throw at Bill Hall's head, then I hope Doug Davis returns the favor to a Reds hitter.
  8. Yeah, Royce has heated up, but I's rather see J.J. Hardy there next year. Hardy at short, Hall at second, and... Crap, we're gonna have to find a way to get Ginter in there, because Wes Helms has third base locked down.
  9. Two sweeps in a row? Can the Crew do that?
  10. Put Danny Kolb in and take it to the bank... The rotation seems to be doing okay, in fact. Sheets, Martinez, Kinney, Franklin and Davis could be a good one next year. Free agent? Who needs a free agent? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif And Podsednik with TWO homers tonight? Did he borrow one of Sammy Sosa's bats?
  11. SoCalBrewfan The way I see it, for a 5th OF, Conti is probably perfect. Superb defense (Jason Michaels found out about THAT today), some pop (ask Turk Wendell), and decent speed (13 SB in AAA) and he plays att three OF positions. If he's starting every day, or even in a platoon, then some manager is in trouble, but as a reserve, he's pretty good. Of course, EVERYONE in Indy has been having a rough go of it offensively this year, so Conti shouldn't be singled out, IMHO. If he and Brady Clark are the reserves next year, I won't complain too much.
  12. SWEEP!! The Crew did it! Post the broom graphics, folks!
  13. Brewers up 5-2, top of the ninth, Danny Kolb pitching... Philly is toast. EDIT: Abreu gone. Lieberthal grounds out... Final out! Thome walks, Ledee pinch-hitting...
  14. You can just about put this one in the books. http://members.aol.com/mmp1nc/broom.gif
  15. He also added two more runs. Took Turk Wendell DEEP. I think we got the sweep... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. Yep. Man, I'd almost want to check out a Phillies board - but I'm not THAT sadistic.
  17. Well, Jason Conti gunned down Michaels at the plate after Jimmy Rollins singled. Assist #21 between Indianapolis and Milwaukee for Jason Conti this year. EDIT: Did Scotty Podsednik just get an assist as well? Will it be Geoff's turn in the ninth?
  18. Can the bullpen hold it together?
  19. Vincente Padilla fires the payoff pitch to Keith Ginter who takes it DEEP... Now, let's get a couple more runs here... EDIT: [EXPLETIVE DELETED] it, Jason Conti, WHY did you have to press your luck?
  20. After this inning, it's probably time to let the bullpen take over. Davis seems to be close to hitting the wall, IMHO.
  21. Speaking of stuff - what's the deal with Abreu? Did he not come up to bat or something? The Yahoo summary shows Byrd singled, Polanco popped out, the Lieberthal walked. If Abreu did not bat... what's up with that?
  22. Give Doug Davis a lot of credit. The only run he's allowed today (4 IP) came off of an error by Ginter. His last start was 6 IP with only two runs allowed.
  23. Can't wait for him to get back. Ginter's made two errors already today. Get Helms back at third, move Ginter to second, and Hall to shortstop.
  24. Yeah, a sure loss, all right... For the Phillies. Now, if Doug Davis can just keep it going... I'm thinking SWEEP!
  25. The Brewers ought to call Lee up in September - give him a shot. Maybe even keep him on the 40-man. He might be a useful bottom-end of the rotation type.
