  1. Franklin's been pretty good. I consider him to be pretty solid, IMO, albeit I'd prefer to have him a little lower. Davis also looks like he could be pretty solid in the 4th or 5th slot. And if they are signed to one-year deals, we aren't on the hook for that much. Kinney's the only guy I'd question, and I think there might be in-house candidates (Obermuller, Lee, and Coco for sure, possibly even Hendrickson and Jones, if we really want to take a risk) who could compete for a slot. A lot depends on whether we want to bring Hardy, Krynzel, and others up as well. I'm very sure that I could put together a good 2004 bench from some of the folks in AAA (Scarborough, Luuloa, Zocco, Rushford, and Conti are all guys I like - Conti might be a good 4th OF, IMHO).
  2. Luis will probably be in the Milwaukee rotation come 2004. Put him through the Arizona Fall League, and see how he does in spring training. He does well, then we have a rotation of Sheets, Franklin, Kinney, Davis, and Martinez. Kinney and Davis would be issues, but I think it will look a lot more solid than this year's rotation - unless Davis and Kinney collapse.
  3. Three out of four, the only loss being to the ace of th eMets rotation... Not a bad series at all, IMHO.
  4. igor67 Why start his arby clock ticking? Send him to the Arizona Fall League, instead.
  5. J.J. Hardy has ELEVEN home runs to Corey Hart's TEN? I never thought he'd be a power hitter.
  6. Deadline deal? Please let there be a deadline deal...
  7. MassBrew It could just be High Desert, but if the guy can get some time in with Cecil Cooper or Butch Wynegar this spring, he could be a good catching prospect. From what I've read, he's pretty good defensively.
  8. He had a rough start, but he's been closer to a #3 starter since May 16th of this year. We've won all but two of his starts since then, and when he's in, I feel confident that I'll be reading about a Brewers win the next day. As for Ginter, I did not say the best utility player in the majors, I said one of the best. Two others ahead of him, but I don't know of any others. EY is the only reason Ginter is not starting at second, and that will probably change in a week or so if a trade happens.
  9. Yeah... I mean, look at what we got for a $5 million infielder with almost no power... A guy who will turn out to be a decent #3 starter (Franklin) and one of the best utility players in the majors (Ginter).
  10. A move to the Carolina League by the Brewers A+ affiliate would be welcomed on my part. If they go to the Potomac Cannons, I'd buy the season tickets. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. madbad2000 Well, it all depends on what you expect from Prince Fielder. I was under the impression we drafted him to be a big-time power bat.
  12. colbyjack Question is, if he is too intimidating, we will start seeing a lot of intentional walks. Note for hometown scoreboard operators: Play a chicken every time teams intentionally walk Prince.
  13. Checking out the Carolina League this weekend. Potomac Cannons - fireworks and in the humid heat of the DC area... I might post some observations here about some of the players I've seen. There are a couple who look pretty sharp.
  14. Belcher can play center? And how about Johnny Raburn? Three hits last night. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Four other Golden Spike winners have played with the Brewers organization. Travis Lee (loaned from the D-Backs when they did not have a AAA team) Ben McDonald Jim Abbott Terry Francona
  16. No, that's Rick Manning, who ended Molitor's 39-game streak by hitting the game-winning single in the bottom of the 10th with the Ignitor on the deck. And the reference in my earlier post was to something a little different. If a player is not charged any at-bats in a game, but has a sacrifice fly, the hitting streak they have is considered to have ended.
  17. Sac flys are not counted as an AB, colbyjack, but for some reason they would still end a hitting streak... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  18. Giving up five runs, six of which were earned? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif
  19. Anything we get for him is gravy at this point.
  20. He's playing left field... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Jenkins, Sexson, Fielder, Hart, Nelson... *drools* Please, National League, adopt the designated hitter rule...
  21. Hey, we won the darn game. 2-1 in 12. Wes with the infield single to bring Sexson in. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Why did Jenkins try? Because that put the typing run 90 feet away with Sexson coming up to bat.
  23. Just falling short... if Geoff hadn't been nailed at third... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif So close!
  24. Will he even suit up this year?
