  1. Fromthe Yahoo Box Score: "MILWAUKEE PITCHER BEN SHEETS LEFT THE GAME AFTER THE FIRST INNING WITH A STRAINED RIGHT ROTATOR CUFF. HE IS NOT EXPECTED TO MISS HIS NEXT START."
  2. Ben Sheets has a fastball and a curve - he is trying to develop a change-up, but right now, he's pretty much got two pitches. The only issue I've seen some people raise with Nance is the fact he's 5'8".
  3. It might be worth seeing if Shane Nance can stretch himself out some more. He did okay for the start (a run in almost four innings of work).
  4. If Weeks can keep hitting like he has been (small sample size, I know...), I can live with the defensive shortcomings.
  5. Sad thing is, Franklin gave us a decent start.
  6. Al the Thinking Man Agreed, Ginter looks solid, but if Hardy and Hall are playing shortstop and second next year (which seems as likely as anything), with Helms playing full-time at third, where does Ginter play? Left field field would be the only real option, with Jenkins moving to right.
  7. batman If Kolb was throwing a new pitch, it would explain the velocity difference and the fact it was breaking. And why would he go with a two-seam that drops down and in to righties? Well, let's see, those are more likely to be hit on the ground. Could be very useful with men on base - a double play will go a long way towards getting out of a jam.
  8. igor67 Well, maybe someone can look that detail up then. Otherwise, I'd like to get some of those folks in the AFL. xisxisxis Doug Melvin is doing an okay job as GM, but I think I'd have done better than Sal Bando. No sweat.
  9. Ain't it nice to have a deep bullpen? CRicks28 Thanks for the Wayne Franklin splits.
  10. igor67 I'd send Hardy, Clark, Krynzel, Nelson, Johnson, and Weeks to the AFL. All position players, but a good mix, and if Weeks can handle the AFL, we can start him off at Huntsville. Give Clark a lot of work at third base and the outfield.
  11. Quality start by Wayne Franklin. He's turning out okay, IMHO. Since May 1, he's been pretty good. Not top-of-the-rotation good, but a decent #4 starter.
  12. Plus, DJ can play third base if things come to that.
  13. Would you rather the Brewers just packed it in, like they did under Lopes and Royster?
  14. Dunno - following it via Yahoo... Let's see if the Crew can't light up their bullpen and come back... six outs, and we need six runs. We did that once this series...
  15. If I'm Milledge, I'm headed off to community college, and the Mets will NOT be signing me as a DFE.
  16. Well, we had our 4th and 5th starters up against their ace and #2... I expected it to get rough - although I held out some optimism - but this is freaking ridiculous... If Luis Martinez runs through another seven scoreless innings in Indy, I say call him up.
  17. Well, at least we got a hit today...
  18. This is really getting ugly... Nothing through four innings... CAN'T WE CATCH A BREAK?
  19. Looking ugly... Down 2-0, bases loaded in the third. EDIT: Keith Ginter is starting at third because Wes Helms is out - guess the hamstring's still a problem.
  20. What is with Wes Helms? Why isn't he starting?
  21. Okay, let's start an informal pool: What inning does Maddux get chased? Tiebreaker: How many runs do the Brewers light him up for? NOTE: I'm trying to be optimistic.
  22. Gee, maybe Rickie Weeks will have to play shortstop in Beloit... Jeff Eure went 3-for-4.
  23. I'd have to declare J.M. Gold the odd guy out. We could probably stash him in Indy - I don't think a major league club would keep him on the major league roster for a full season.
  24. MassBrew You'd think that Lee and Davis would be added to the 40-man, or that an effort would be made to keep them in the fold for next year.
  25. colbyjack Davis has been decent prior to this year. He'd cost a lot less, and if he gets to his earlier form, that's a 4.50 ERA (ERAs run higher in the AL due to the DH - sorry for mentioning those who abbreviations, but it might be important for this comparison). I think he'd be no worse than Wayne Franklin. And Franklin's been pretty solid since May 1. Davis and Franklin would not be spectacular, but they could keep us in games.
