  1. Just because they are Cubs fans doesn't mean they can't voice their opinion This seems to be an appropriate time to note that the Cubs fans who post here have basically been model members. I don't believe any of them have been issued a strike or a warning.
  2. I believe Jeff's contract has a no-trade clause for the first two years and a limited no-trade clause for the second two years.
  3. I bet that with all of the commercials, and with halftime in the football game, one could TiVo both games, move back and forth, and watch each one almost live.
  4. Besides tickets given away and tickets sold by MLB, I wouldn't be surprised if a third category existed in that pool of 10,000: tickets purchased by MLB then subsequently given away.
  5. The 10,000 tickets wouldn't all be complimentary. There'd be some, but the great majority of those would be tickets made available for purchase.
  6. Depending on which reporter you believe, Weeks left the game with a sprained or strained left knee.
  7. Well he is, but he is our player. We can talk bad about him, other team's fans cant. He's speaking in the third person to offer a parody of what Cubs fans are saying. He isn't insulting Fielder. "Seriously, dink and dunk hits all over the place. We don't have any of them. The playoffs are a load of BS" Because it's quoted material that's more or less pertinent, I'm not going to hide the post or kick in the disciplinary system. However, for future reference, please note the following from the board language guidelines:
  8. I'd guess that a significantly greater number of complimentary tickets than usual were given out. Those wouldn't count toward the paid attendance. Figure in that every player on both teams would have had family there. Additionally, there would have been other employees of both teams given free tickets. You could go on from there.
  9. This seems to border on in-game thread material, but I'll leave the thread open until we get an answer to the question at hand.
  10. I've been here way too long. First time through I read that last word as rluz. rluz is in the park. Maybe it actually was him.
  11. If things don't work out as hoped, please try to remember to have enjoyed the season and remain civil towards your fellow posters. Yeah, really. On Thursday, three mods needed to intervene with "play nice" messages and five members needed to be PMed. Even if the game results aren't pretty, the mods would much rather enjoy participating in the thread by talking about the game rather enforcing board rules.
  12. Doug Melvin said the Indians were still reviewing medical records. The deadline is Monday, so we'll know one way or the other soon.
  13. I believe Gammons reported that Brantley is the PTBNL, but agent39 is telling us that the PTBNL hasn't yet been named.
  14. Please note the quote guidelines.
  15. Is there an article that accompanies the pictures?
  16. but National Announcers would not call him Billy Hall. I dunno. I think it's been done. I'd be willing to bet on it if the announcers involved represent teams who play the Brewers regularly. You could also tell the 3 were all new to each other, a couple times it went silent. Silence is golden. That's as it should be. There isn't enough of it on TV broadcasts. it was kind of strange hearing Anderson getting all excited when Hamels struck out Braun. I noticed that, too. But that's absolutely fine: it's directing emotion toward good play or an exciting turn of events rather than toward one team or the other.
  17. Why is it assumed that dale is coming back. To keep this thread on track, twobrewers set a discussion parameter. Imagine how unwieldy it could get had he not done that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. Please note the the following from the board language guidelines: There were a couple of violations of the above rules in yesterday's in-game thread. I don't believe there's any public moderator acknowledgment of those violations. However, rest assured that those members have been PMed.
  19. In general, Brian did a fine job. He was emotionally impartial, which is one of the big things you'd look for. However, there were numerous times where he described action as a Brewers broadcaster would. He often gave the score in terms of the Brewers, for instance. That should be either avoided or evened out. At one point, he referred to Sabathia as "our" ace. I think Brian is a fine choice as a national announcer. But his rookie assignment should have come in a different series. That would have made the errors he made impossible to make in the first place. EDIT I want it to feel like the playoffs the way I know it. Keep in mind that the "way you know it" is the way fans of a losing team know it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Having your home radio broadcasters is a perk.
