  1. During tonight's Bears-Colts game, Andrea Kremer said "primer" with a long i (as in an initial coat of paint) rather than with a short i (as in a description of basic principles).
  2. Team apparel at the Hales Corners K-Mart was 20% off yesterday... excluding the Dallas Cowboys.

  4. Since J.J.'s shoulder issue, the Brewers have been pretty careful about giving him periodic days off. Unless Gwynn starts today (yuck), I'd say Escobar is likely to get the first start.
  5. You can be a homer and still be objective. I think both the radio and TV teams are good that way. I think the point is valid about Brian exaggerating things like what's "close" to a home run. I certainly wouldn't fire a guy over stuff like that, though. I'd encourage him to adjust how he calls those plays.
  6. The Time Warner Big 10 alternate channel in the Milwaukee area is 897. It's up around the ESPN football channels, Extra Innings, etc., and right now, it's showing the Michigan State-Eastern Michigan game. To sum it up for Milwaukee area Time Warner customers: 63 -- analog 527 -- high definition 897 -- alternate
  7. I'm not at home where I have DirecTV, but can you find the game on an alternate channel?
  8. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Yo pitch before the year is out. But I'd be surprised if the team depended on him to do anything of consequence. Following an injury, it's a nice uplift for a player to be able get back on the field before the season is out. I'd guess that this is all the Brewers would like to accomplish.
  9. I'd forgotten about that, valpo: The National Organization of Men Against Amazonian Masterhood. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. Also, after five years (I believe), a player has to approve the use of an option. This is a good topic. While Brewerfan lists options, it's occasionally been known to be wrong. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. 9/3/08 Non-Brewers IGT: 600 People show up to Braves-Marlins game http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. I'm not fond of singular sports team nicknames, either. I guess it's OK in soccer. "Milwaukee Wave" never bothered me. "Hawks" is a shortened version of "Blackhawks." The team dropped "Black" when the Tri Cities Blackhawks moved to Milwaukee in 1951. I think "Milwaukee Bucks" is one of the best team nicknames in pro sports.
  13. According to a Yuku staff member, Chrome is based on Apple's Webkit (Safari). That means it won't support Yuku's WYSIWYG editor. Members choosing this browser should: Hit the Account link in the navigation bar. Follow the preferences link. Choose "bbcode" under Editor Type. Hit the Submit button at the bottom of the page. This is also what users of Safari and other Safari-based browsers should do. Of course, if you prefer it, the bbcode editor is an option no matter which browser you use.
  14. Here's a bug related to the Convert URL option. As members have probably noticed, when the Convert URL option is checked, long links will be truncated. However, upon editing a lead post, the destination of the link will also become truncated. (In other words, the link breaks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif) This only is an issue in the first post of a thread, and it only becomes an issue when editing. Moral of the story: if you edit the lead post of a thread, be prepared to fix any links that were created with the Convert URL option. Links with text would be unaffected.
  15. It's been documented that hidden posts seem to break page numbering and also cause reply numbers to be different for mods/admins vs. members. Do your issues resemble anything in this bug: Incorrect reply and page counts? If so, and you think you can add any information, certainly feel free to jump into the discussion. From all accounts I've seen, the "jump to first new post" icon works fine when going to the first unread message in a previously read thread. However, some members, myself included, have had issues where clicking on the new post icon next to a previously unread thread sends them to reply #1 rather than the lead. This issue is listed as a separate bug. I filed this one: In completely unread thread, "jump to first new post" icon jumps you to first reply, although I know there's another thread around with more extensive discussion. Yuku staff member Chris W962 and I have PMed a lot about the new post icon in previously unread threads. A fair number of members are experiencing it, and it's a tough one to pin down. It appears to be profile and forum-related. (That's forum-related, not board-related.) That is, I only experience the issue in some forums on Brewerfan. And I only experience it under my 1992casey profile--and not at all under several of the test profiles I played around with.
  16. Trenni explained today that MLB can't overturn the scorer's ruling. The most it can do is attempt to convince him to change it himself.
  17. First, it would have been irresponsible to predict that CC would be this good or that the Brewers would have won practically every game he started. Second, CC has to be compared to what he would have been replacing. The team would have probably been at or a little below .500 in games started by another pitcher. Those two things would narrow the gap considerably.
  18. holy bannana's post quoted above was hidden due to the combination of condescension and the monster-sized quote of a previous message. For what it's worth, his message is still available in PBIB's post above.
  19. areacodes: Al, your post is #193 (at least for me) and it is post #190 that says it is official that Escobar has been called up. dadofandrew: Yeah, it was a problem once before today, as well. i think the mods see posts that have been deleted, and we do not, hence, the issue. Mods don't see deleted posts, but we do see hidden posts. There are exactly three hidden posts in this thread. Post numbering weirdness has been happening since the push on August 19th or so, and there are bugs filed on the issue. I'll make sure that Yuku staff takes a look at this thread.
  20. D-backs beat out Angels for Eckstein Daron is going to enjoy this. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  21. pitchleague, isn't that a lose-lose-lose situation? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. Brian and Bill keep saying the call is unchangeable, which at this point would certainly seem to be correct. However, they keep implying that the scorer had no chance to change it at all. He could have done it soon after his initial decision, especially when that decision was made so quickly.
  23. I am not sure that the nieves game was televised or not. It was. FSN replayed it on January 15, 2007. Here's the in-game thread: 4/15/87 Classic: Brewers @ Orioles, Nieves no-hitter
  24. With J.J.'s shoulder issues earlier this year, I'm not against giving him a liberal amount of rest. Per board quote guidelines, please avoid long or overly nested quotes (reply numbers 20/21). Thanks.
  25. The notion that Sept. callups don't burn service time is a myth, as best I can tell. I've been up and down the CBA, and I find no mention of September callup time not burning service time. Maybe the notion comes from the fact that September days of service don't count against rookie status. (September at bats and innings pitched count against rookie status, however.) One of these years, we should e-mail someone in the know and find this out once and for all. I'll have to dig through old e-mails; I think I might have an address for a Brewer honcho that could probably help us out.
