  2. Will is jogging on an anti-gravity treadmill using 75% of his body weight. I'd say that's good news.
  3. Don't know what was worse Blazeks throw to second or Broxtons throw home, yikes To use BA's words, give Maldonado credit for "smothering" it.

  5. If Sedar stopped Villar, you'd have to assume that Santana was supposed to stop too.

  7. Thought about starting a separate thread for this one, but I guess it belongs here. Either way is fine. If a post in this topic generates a bunch of replies, we can always split them off.
  8. I have nobody that can attest to my truthfulness, but I totally predicted the home run hit by Dodger's pitcher Kenta Maeda in his major league debut Wednesday night. When Kenta's turn to bat came up, he wasn't even in the on deck circle. He grabbed some gloves and finished donning them in the batter's box. On the way to the box, he nodded an apology for the delay to Padres' pitcher Andrew Cashman. That's when I thought to myself, "this dude's going to homer." For what it's worth, this was Kenta's third professional homer. He hit one last year, and he hit one eight years ago. I don't know how good this guy's going to be, but nothing seems to rattle him. He shoots a smile to the catcher before every pitch and seems to go with the flow.

  10. Or so they say. The FAQ may need updating, so it might pay to call and ask. I wonder if the site works in a web browser on Android.
  11. What you get with which package depends on where you live. A cable provider will likely give you one team's channel or maybe two without any added packages. Extra Innings covers out of market teams. The issue is when you're in several "home" markets. To get those teams, such as getting the Brewers in Iowa, a sports package will likely fill the gap.
  12. Both TV feeds of tonight's game in San Diego suck. The sound comes and goes, and suddenly I'll be watching a part of the game that occurred earlier. Announcers are cut off mid-sentence, and the sentence restarts. Right now, the picture is frozen. It's not my equipment or the system. If I flip on the Athletics-White Sox game, all is well.
  13. Last year's link still works: http://www.brewers.com/corporate Enter the password (brewerfan) when prompted.
  14. The video in the demo is so-so. The FAQ appears to be out of date. It says that Flash is required, but the demo played without it. I had no trouble using AirPlay to transmit the demo video from Safari on my Mac to my Apple TV. I'd assume that AirPlay would work fine off of an iOS device too.
  15. Craig said that Jungmann was working hard and that he considered "5 innings, 80 pitches, and how you get to those 80 pitches."
  16. Here are the subscription details: http://www.milb.com/milb/multimedia/ $49.99 for the year or $12.99 per month. The list of supported devices is limited (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch). Complete game archives are available on demand. There are a few blackout restrictions that apply to people in small areas out east. Does anyone know of there's a free trial? I don't see one mentioned.
  17. I thought it was apparent that the ball would stay in. But it wasn't necessarily apparent that it would be caught. It was a nice play by Flores.
  18. If Davies comes to the majors and stays, he'd be controlled through 2021. Outlander would like to see that control extend through 2022. To make that happen, Zach would need to spend approximately 54 days in the minors this season or accumulate some minor league time during another season.
  19. Each spot in the batting order gets 19-ish more plate appearances per season than the spot before it.… I think that's a good general point that's significant but doesn't necessarily trump everything else. As an example, lineup gurus tell us that the #5 hitter should be better than the #3 hitter because the #3 hitter comes to the plate with 2 out and nobody on more than anyone else. So besides the number of plate appearances, the leverage of those plate appearances comes into play. In the case of the pitcher hitting 8 vs. 9, I think the neutralization occurs because the starting pitcher is likely to be replaced in the batting order and that at least two plate appearances in his spot will be made by guys with at least a modicum of hitting ability.
  20. The statheads say that the numbers compared to hitting the pitcher ninth are more or less neutral. And Craig Counsell says the numbers are more or less neutral. So given all of that neutrality, I'm more or less neutral on the idea.
  21. This is a fun article: The day Robin Yount caught an inning for the Diamondbacks This happened when Robin wasn't quite 50 years old, and the D'Backs were playing an in-season exhibition game against their South Bend affiliate. In-season exhibitions are never popular with players, so of course, they were grumbling. Robin caught to stop the complaining.
  22. Robin was actually hiding a motorbike injury, but the golf story is better.

  24. Aaron's defense appears to be fine at this point. The problem has been his declining offense. I don't think he'll get that back unless he finds a way to "reinvent" his approach at the plate. Aaron's a pull hitter who's lost power. At his age, I don't see that suddenly reappearing.
