  1. It must be nice to be a Yankee fan. The farm system has taken a hit this winter but I'm sure they'll buy more prospects this year on the international market (it must be nice to essentially have 2 drafts) or give ridiculous signing bonuses to some later round "tough signs" in the upcoming draft.
  2. Keep in mind that the Giants decide if/when the game starts. Once it starts, the umpires have control thereafter of those decisions. The Giants are going to wait until such time as there is a significant window (2+ hours), not just a partial window. The reason? Lincecum
  3. To me Hart looked ALOT better yesterday. Better than almost anyone in that lineup. The best he has looked in a long while. I know he struck out to end that game but he still looked much better. I'm hoping he may have turned a corner.
  4. Lou also said the plan is after Friday to "get back at it the rest of the weekend".
  5. Lou's pre-game comments: 1) Cedeno & DeRosa out with injuries tonight 2) Resting some regulars and will probably do that again on Friday because they are going to be getting into Milwaukee late 3) Harden will throw 85-90 pitches tonight 4) Dempster will be his Game 1 playoff starter
  6. My fear is that MLB's top priority and Lou Pinella's priority may be in conflict. MLB wants to get this game in no matter what. Lou wants to make sure everyone is ready for the playoffs. If the field becomes wet, Lou will pull many of his regulars out of the game I'm afraid.
  7. 3 for the last 63 with runners in scoring position. That's .048 as a team. Has there ever been a Brewer regular who was more of a "guess hitter" then Cameron?
  8. I expect to hear an announcement today...that Mota has been chosen by his peers to pitch in the Homerun Derby.
  9. Not to hi-jack the thread, but is anyone else tired of the Joba Chamberlain love fest? What is he doing that Seth McClung isn't? Joba debuted in the rotation on 6/03. Seth pitched that night too. Here are their stats since then: Chamberlain 0-0 record, 18.1 IP, 1.96ERA (7 runs/4 earned), 19K's/12BB, 1.55 Whip McClung 2-1 record, 18.0 IP, 2.50ERA (5 runs/5 earned), 13K's/1BB, 0.77 Whip
  10. If DiFelice is being sent back to AAA, I'd like to see him placed back in the rotation in anticipation of a possible call up to replace Bush if his struggles continue. He's one of the few rotation options we have.
  11. "I think I'm going to try the 16 / 19 / A / 89 / 94 route" This route has served me well the last week. Really a relaxing drive. An extra 35 minutes. Make sure to take the part of 16 that goes around Oconomowoc instead of the business route going through Oconomowoc. Downtown Oconomowoc construction will slow you down otherwise.
  12. The fact that Melville has serious signability concerns may be affecting things with him. New York being able to draft Cole and Boston drafting Kelly were partly due to concerns with their signability.
  13. UC-Irvine pitcher Wes Ethridge has retired the last 15 against Wichita State. Has a nasty fastball with strong downward movement. Hasn't had a ball leave the infield thru 5 innings.
  14. This game started getting strange when Ned pinchhit Gross instead of Gwynn with Hart on 2nd in the top of the 8th. Did that strike anyone else as strange? Then Shouse to start the 8th was a head scratcher with no lefty to face until Utley. Turnbow was refusing to throw his breaking ball after he bounced one in the dirt and his fastball is way to straight to throw it over and over again. Big league hitters will crush him if he isn't willing to mix in his breaking stuff. He should have been benched as soon as it became apparent he didn't want to throw it anymore.
