  1. Ned Yost Jr.!!! probably not. I heard he was a jerk when he plaed for the Wausau Woodchucks last summer
  2. brucru1... Do you know anything about who's starting for the big club tonight?
  3. Anyone notice Scranton-Wilksboro's line-up has a strong Milwaukee flavor? M.Budzinski CF A.Machado SS L.Collier 3B J.Rushford 1B M.Smith LF Scranton...where old Brewer farmhands go to die (hopefully) or become future all-stars (hopefully not)
  4. What does Jeff Liefer have to do to earn a spot on the big league roster? Learn to hit right-handed? Learn to play third? Learn how to speak in an Australian accent? Come on, this guy is a good hitter...give him the call! Also, I guess we learned why Chris Michelak is toiling as a situational lefty in AAA, while the big club has a distinct need to that very thing.
  5. Hopefully Brad Nelson can reclaim his top 3 prospect status. I don't know if he will ever be in the Brewer uniform (with Hart and Jenkins foreseeably in the future), but what team isn't looking for power-hitting corner outfield prospects?
  6. I just got the Huntsville link to work, and a conservative talk show is on the air...no stars game. I think it must be tonight then.
  7. Took, why do you continue to bee an ass and keep that quote on your posts? I said it was an honest mistake, and that I was dumb. Isn't that enough? Please take it off.
  8. Brian, it should be obvious by now that I suck at the whole sarcasm thing. (Plus, a subtle reminder exists in every one of tookej's posts.)
  9. Well, Bako wasn't going to win any batting titles anytime soon. Milwaukee was probably going to release him anyway, so they went out and got something for him. Gripp was a decent player, and its too bad he got caught up in a numbers game at Huntsville. I think he would have done just fine at third.
  10. Hmmm.... there was no pitcher listed for Friday's start against Charlotte. a) They usually list starters for the next two days b) Luis Martinez's turn in the rotation is Friday the plot thickens. I hope they are keeping David Manning's spot warm at Indy.
  11. I think you have a good point. The chances of Martinez being with the big club at least as a fifth starter are likely considering his age (24 next year). I just hope we don't have another Rafael Roque on our hands. Projected 2004 rotation: 1. Sheets (the way he is pitching now, he is a legit ace) 2. Franklin (not a legitimate #2, but has been pitching above all expectations this year) 3. Kinney (in a funk lately, needs to turn it around) 4. Rusch ( I seriously think that the Brewers will hang onto him. The way he has been pitching after the all-star break, I have no problem with this.) 5. Martinez (Have to give him a chance, especially if he performs well in the cup of coffee he will have this year) Other possibilities: Obermueller Tuet Coco Davis Neugebauer (extreme longshot, most likely going to be in bullpen if anywhere) Jones (another extreme longshot, but he more than likely will be in the major league camp, and if he performs well, the Brewers may try to catch lightening in a bottle) Pember (if he can get healthy and play a bit this year, he's got decent stuff)
  12. No....I'm sure that hitting a Wagner slider is tougher than heck. I guess the blame can be put on VDLS too for allowing a hit to Berkman. Or the whole Brewer offense can be blamed for not garnering more than 2 runs. Just at the time, Helms had a chance to tie the game with either a sharp grounder to the middle of the diamond or a deep fly ball, and he did neither. I'm sure he blames himself. If the Brewers are ever going to turn the corner, they will need to tighten up in those situations.
  13. As long as these moves domino into the release of "Hollywood Rally-Killer" Clayton, I'll be happy.
  14. Agreed.....all Helms has to do is make contact and hit it on the ground and he ties the game......but he whiffs on ball four......he has got to be more protective of the plate than that
  15. Well, I eat my words........Berkman just answered why VDLS was pitching to him in the ninth
  16. Totally Agree Brewdude......Kolb should have been the man. He's the hot pitcher right now. Yost was trying for the matchup with turning Berkman around to bat righty, but obviously that didn't work. He needs to pick a guy and stick with him.
  17. Yeah, you have to give Rusch credit for shutting down a tough lineup in a hitters park tonight. I'm sure some prospective playoff teams are taking note of it too.
  18. Too bad for Rusch.....but free baseball anyway. I was thinking this was going to be a blow out, so I'm very happy with the performance. I think that Rusch may have a club option for next year, but don't quote me on that.
