  1. I received a credit card offer at my office. I'm assuming a buddy must have signed me up for something because the offer states "Nobody's a bigger Astros fan than you! Show your love of the game with the Astros Extra Bases credit card." I guess I will pass since I don't have enough time in the day to check both Brewerfan . net and Astrofan . net. The Astros are in trouble if I'm the biggest Astro fan.
  2. I have EVO and fat fingers and the only thing I wish it could do is edit/create excel files. I have been very satisfied.
  3. My wife & I saw it from inside our house. My initial reaction was that it was an airplane on fire. But when I didn't see it crash/land, I just assumed it was a firework
  4. My wife & I took our daughters (6 & 4) to DisneyLAND back in October. We brought along a scrap book so that the girls could get autographs from the Disney characters. They love looking at the scrapbook with the autographs and pictures. Also, you get a card to give you access to the pictures that the professionals take while your kids pose with the characters. I didn't need it, but a friend of mine had his camera damaged and was thankful to have the opportunity to spend the money on the expensive professional pictures.
  5. Homer If you are in WI, then you will have a good chance of claiming unemployment. The rules are stacked heavily in the employees favor. This is based solely on the fact that I'm a business owner in WI and I have had to pay out on some outlandish cases. Good Luck!
  6. I figured Syracuse was going to be in rough shape this year after their exhibition game. See the 2nd & 3rd posts from this thread. Apparently, they recovered nicely from that loss. pitchleague wrote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I saw Syracuse lost to a D-II school last night. Nice. homer wrote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I saw a headline that said "LeMoyne stuns 'Cuse" and thought it was some guy named LeMoyne that had hit a three or something.
  7. I passed the exam 2 years ago. I already had my CPA and CMA, so I didn't think it was that bad. I probably overstudied, but I couldn't take the chance of not passing due to timing of some things already in motion. I used the Kaplan/Dearborn books and I went to a one week study seminar. I've learned from past exam taking that doing tons of practice questions prepares me the best for the exam. I have a friend who used a different set of books and was getting nowhere. Then he bought the Kaplan/Dearborn books and it all made sense to him. I don't always have time to check this site, but you can pm me for any individual questions. Good Luck.
  8. Thank you for your service and a special thanks for the direct link. Keep up the good work.
  9. Please let me know if anyone is willing to part with 4 tickets together for the July 26th game. Thanks BMuch
  10. Congrats FTJ. I am looking to buy a GPS as well, but would also like to use the GPS in the boat to help me navigate. Which GPS devices would display your actual position (ie. in the middle of the lake) versus showing you on the nearest road? Also, can you add customized points of interest? Thanks
  11. It's also still possible you'll be able to file for the $8000 credit this year, but I would tend to doubt it. There appears to be a bit of a reversal of thinking and there's a good chance that if you bought the house in '09, you will still be able to claim the $8k on your '08 tax return. Sorry that I don't have a link. My tax software sent me an update stating that the taxpayer should be able to make the claim, but the IRS is still in the process of updating the tax form. BMuch, CPA
  12. I am running a marathon this May in San Diego My brother-in-law, who lives in the Fox Valley, is going to be running in his first marathon in SD in May. Probably the same one.
  13. Why would you be able to claim a house that you bought in 2009 on your 2008 tax return? Part of the stimulus allows first time homebuyers to take the (up to) $7,500 credit on their 2008 tax return if the home was purchased between Jan 1, 2009 - June 30, 2009. BMuch, CPA
  14. but a snafu at City Hall has changed that. The same thing just happened to Menasha (near Appleton). I've been wondering if the rules for exemption changed or if the crossings weren't maintained properly.
  15. We were advised to snip the end with a scissors. So we informed our daughter that we would be cutting part of the end off of her Nuk because of germs. Our daughter didn't really like her Nuk after that and she then willingly gave it up. Good Luck.
  16. Backup Thanks for the heads up. My wife & I contemplated going to the Pudgy Seagall. We'll have to give it a go next time.
  17. I just had an anniversary weekend in Sturgeon Bay. We stayed in a recently remodeled cabin at Cliff Dwellers. http://www.cliffdwellersresort.com/index.html It is very affordable ($140/night) and was private, yet close by to Sturgeon Bay's attractions. We had dinner at Sage, a very upscale restaurant with great ambiance (live bass & piano) and great food. It is located on the main (old downtown) street in Sturgeon Bay. We also went to Simon Creek winery. We just chilled listening to live music overlooking the vineyard and a pond along with a bottle of very good wine.
  18. If the weather doesn't pan out, there is a hotel with waterpark in it. Also, there is a place that offers horse rides along with the go carts and mini golf. The weather was cold for us one week last summer so we went for the horse rides, which were much nicer than I expected. We saw several deer in the forest along the horse ride. The casino in Lac Du Flambeau hasn't been mentioned yet as an attraction. My in-laws have a cottage on Big Crawlingstone (Lac Du Flambeau).
  19. I know that a similar topic has been raised in the past, but I'm actually just looking for recommendations for a new electric shaver/razor. My neck is very sensitive, so please keep that in mind. About 10 years ago I used a Norelco with its lift and cut system, but after awhile it became the lift and yank system. I've used Mach 3 for some time now, but I still get neck burn. Please help me with recommendations.
  20. My father was Dick Much. To no one's surprise, he had eight children (all with my mother). My mom is BJ Much, but apparently did not live up to her name.
  21. You could have the students calculate how much sales tax is included within the concessions purchased. (Requires division) Edit: You could see if they could come up with the calculation on their own first. My guess is that noone would get it though. You could work budgeting into the field trip. Ticket + concessions + souvenirs
  22. Anybody know when the checks are supposed to be sent out? Is it May? The check issuing begins in May. Checks are issued in sequential order of the last two digits of the taxpayer's social security number for taxpayers who have their tax returns processed by the IRS by April 15th..
  23. Those (the notice of a potential rebate) are sent out once you file your taxes. I got mine about a month ago. The notices went out even if you have not yet filed your tax return. Jaybird appears to be in line for $600. $300 is for dependents and those individuals who pay no (or very little) income tax.
  24. That was a call that could have gone either way, or been a no-call. I probably wouldn't have made a call. If you are referring to the charge against W Ky, then I disagree. That was an obvious block. Emanaker (sp?) drew the contact with his outstretched arm and leg, which was off of the ground, while running side by side with the offensive player. Not a textbook definition of having defensive position.
