  1. To clear something up, Rushford will sign a minor league contract with Indy, so he will not be placed on the 40 man roster, to answer Mavs' question. I'm glad to have Jim back also. He's got a better chance at spending a few years in the bigs than Guerrero does.
  2. In other news, RHP J.M. Gold has landed back on the disabled list (and the Brewers chose to expose Guerrero?). I'm positive I can count all the sub 22 year-olds who have been injured almost nonstop that had above average major league careers on Captain Hook's right hand. Gold's "potential" is as a reliever, if that. The idea that he's still protected is laughable, and it has been for almost 2 full years. Guerrero has an athlete's chance, but I don't see him as more than a reserve.
  3. Scooter may not be much of a defensive player, but he's played about 300-400 AAA games at SS, so he won't embarass you either. Even at 2B, he should be at least mediocre offensively. It's criminal Scooter's sitting at Norfolk while Rey Sanchez has a 450 OPS, which isn't down that much from his career mark of 650.
  4. I tuned away late, but Marquez was effective in his first couple of innings back with the team Sorta puts spring training in perspective, huh? Guy walks in, all but off the street, pitches fine.
  5. Well I'm going to go out on a limb here, pulling an Al, and working from memory alone. I pulled an Al once, I had to ice it and stay off of it for a whole week!
  6. Isn't the "cutdown" day in AAA any day now? Shouldn't be a problem finding decent arms as soon as 30 teams cut a player, about half of which should be pitchers.
  7. And he's only 23. The guy has had more K's than innings at every level, and had a 1.2 WHIP last year. He improved his 5+ 2001 ERA to a sub 3 ERA at the same level in 2002. It makes as little sense as letting Paul Stewart go. I'd guess he yelled at someone, there's a short leash for guys not considered true prospects.
  8. No wonder his wrist was sore. I'm sure he was insisting he was fine until the minute the X-ray came back.
  9. Only Prince Fielder hitting above .250 in the early going within Monday's line-up. Man among boys.
  10. Isn't Moon a no hit/good field catcher? The A's must have seen something in Kremblas, as Wilson can hit at least. I would assume Ash liked him, and probably Frank put in a good word, but honestly, he hasn't seen him play much.
  11. Any idea why we're keeping the 32 year-old Smith OF around? Jed isn't a AAA star, but a INF/OF would seem to have an infinite amount of value compared to a corner OF.
  12. Again, 24 is awful young to "give up" on a pitcher, especially those able to K over a man an inning.
