  1. Well, there is a new Power 50 member. Will he bump Brian Foster off? The horror.
  2. along those line...Toby, why the heck is Bill Hall still on the power 50? The same reason Brian Foster is.
  3. This got me all amped. I thought I somehow missed out on May and part of June. I was really looking forward to seeing Adam Loewen's name in the thread. Alas...
  4. LHP Luis Martinez yet to give up an earned run What did I tell you about jinxing it??? He's a goner next time, for sure. 23 IP, 7 H, 11 BB, 33 K's; Geesh. You'd expect those kind of numbers from a dominating kid in rookie ball, but in AA, that is almost unheard of to begin a season, especially the 7 hits in 23 IP. The 11 walks kind of mitigate the very few hits allowed, but it is still otherworldly impressive. We may or may not have a monster on our hands.
  5. The thing that was holding JJ back was, because of his middling power, he needed to draw more walks. Now he is walking almost once in every 5 AB and hitting for more power anyway. What is his next goal, stealing 50 bases? Go for it, JJ. Who cares about that Prince guy, anyway?
  6. JJ Hardy... holy crap. That's all I got.
  7. I would like to note that I was the 2000th viewer of this thread. I think that gives me good enough stats to be drafted in the 13th round, if not higher.
  8. I'm officially placing a gag order on any conversation involving a certain Huntsville lefthander's scoreless innings pitched streak. You jinx him, I come and find you.
  9. I looked into my crystal ball and foresaw Dennis Sarfate taking the mound for the Raptors, er, Snappers in the second game of tonight's doubleheader.
  10. I'm going to take at something here and guess that Parra will be starting for Beloit tonight. His last start was on Wednesday, so that's 4 days. I don't think they'd want to give him too much rest.
  11. Hardy keeps being true to his word, banging out some extra base hits and walking. If this keeps up at some pace through June, the promotion watch for JJ will be on. Plus, his name is in big letters in the box scores so it is really easy to find. And isn't it nice to see Frank, er, Mike Kremblas get a couple of hits?
  12. The name Charlie Lozada doesn't sound particularly Venezuelan or Dominican. Maybe he's an Aussie or South African kid. Or, maybe not. That is a lot of catchers in rookie ball/extended spring training, I'd forgotten how many there were. Of those guys, Serafini, Rottino, and Ramirez also play elsewhere, so they can be moved around on the field, especially Rottino, who plays infield positions. You have to imagine catching is going to be a big focus of the draft, too, so are more than likely going to be 2-4 more guys coming from the June draft, and probably at least one top 5-10 pick, who would likely be the starter for Helena. This all adds up to some released players sooner or later this season, and since the younger kids are pretty safe, the older extended spring players have to be a little worried.
  13. I knew I kept Luis so high on the Power 50 for some reason or another.
