  1. At least Mr. DP is reliable! Another DP.
  2. Hang in there folks! We're only a grand slam and solo shot away from being back in this thing. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/laugh.gif
  3. This will be a good series, because I will be at tomorrow and Wed. games. Braun will hit one out for me. And hopefully Prince will hit another one. This place is far to negative. We won the series against Philly. All we need is to win two games in Denver. Maybe we slug our way back into this game. If not, we have two more nights to play, including Gallardo and hopefully the good Cappy. This time of year, pitcher's get shelled. You need to win some slugfests. We have as good a slugfest lineup as anyone. We're still in tonight's game.
  4. Folks, we won a series against the best offense in the NL, we came back to win one of the games, and we gained a game on the Cubs in this series thanks to the smoking hot Mets. I would say, despite the tough loss today, the Philly series was success!
  5. I scoffed at some of the early talk of Braun working out with AROD and the notion that he might be a poor man's AROD. But I'm now a believer. The kid is as good a hitter as I've seen in a crew uniform in long time. And that's saying something considering Prince is on the team. Wow, the next couple years are going to be a lot of fun. If Weeks can find his stroke again, this infield will really be something.
  6. I think that kid can play! He believes in insurance!
  7. Bud looked sad. Although I'm sure he knew it was inevitable, he felt for his friend Hank. The only good that has come from this thing is all the people rehashing Henry Aaron, and finally giving Hank his due. With all due respect to Ruth, Williams, Mays, etc., Hank Aaron is the best ever. If he would have played in NYC, he not Mays would be the first name off of everyone's tongue when talking about the best ever. I thank Bonds for bringing Hank back in the spotlight.
  8. "Down 5-1 with a guy with 18 homers at the plate, bunting is a ridiculous request." That's why this team is so good at coming back this year. They always think like that. They're back in this game so far without the HR and despite Hart's K. Am I glad they've almost got it all back in one inning? Heck yah. But usually in a 4 run game I'll take 2 runs in the sixth rather than 0 runs, a K, and an inning ending dp.
  9. I like Prince! He's a real hitter, and has been very productive despite everyone's attention on the the homer slump.
  10. YES I love to eat my own words. Great JJ!
  11. The obvious DP is next after that K. Really wish Hart woul dhave bunted the guys over.
  12. That's that point brettac1. It's silly to DFA him. One person said it, and the rest of us have rejected it as crazy talk.
  13. I can still watch, cause I believe 2 things: 1) We will win tomorrow to take the series; 2) Glavine will get #300 tomorrow. Therefore, by tomorrow night we will be in the same position we were at the beginning of this game. Plus, I really believe this team is about to turn it around. It's unfortunate we had to face their ace tonight, or I think we might have really started a nice win streak after last night.
  14. And that inevitable parade of K's begins...
  15. Can't get back in the game without baserunners, fellas.
  16. Bush has too much value to DFA. He's proven to be decent out of the bullpen. Probably has decent trade value. Now let's get some runs. And it starts with Billy getting on base somehow.
  17. The starting pitching has been our Achilles heal. While this starting staff may have been one of the better ones in the NL on paper, the results on the field (except Sheets and Gallardo) reek of a .500 club. Yah, some good starts on occasion from Bush and Vargas. But truthfully, based on performance this season, this staff has four #4-5 type starters rather than the two #2s (Cappy, Soup) and two #3-4's (Bush, Vargas) we had hoped for at the beginning. The good news, and the hope is, that Sheets comes back strong, Gallardo keeps it up, and either Soup of Cappy re-find their touch down the stretch. EDIT: I should say that Vargas has been decent for a #5. But it says something about this staff that he has the second best results on the field.
  18. I certainly agree that teams can score on Hamels. I just don't believe this team can. We are just not constructed to be a come back type of team. Swinging for the fences is our attempt at coming back. That feeds right in to swinging at garbage. Most MLB pitchers are good at feeding garbage when they are ahead. If we could figure out that occasionally a timely base hit or a sac bunt might plate a run in a couple of of the remaining innings, we might actually get to the 8th or 9th tied or down by one and finish the come back on someone. Until that happens, I have almost zero hope that we can come back on Hamels. I hope I'm wrong, but the stats on are ability to come back this year leave little hope.
  19. Game, set, match with Hamels pitching. I predict about 12 total Crew K's.
  20. While I don't have any problems with the missed call at first, let's not get carried away Go Brewers5489. The Cubs are certainly good in different ways than the Brewers (like in manufacturing runs which sometimes look lucky), but overall I think we are as good as the Cubs. I think during this hot streak, like all teams that are red hot, the Cubs got their fair share of good breaks, seeing-eye ground balls, dropped out, etc. That can't continue forever (just like our start could not contine). Right now the Cubs have better starting pitcher, and a bit scrappier, but we have a better albeit it struggling offense and a better albeit struggling bullpen. Case in point was that error by Milledge. But things will even out and it will be a neck and neck down the stretch.
  21. That play was so close there is no way you blame the ump for calling him safe. In real time, it looked like a tie. Only upon incredible slow motion, it appeared that the runner was out my about millimeter of light between the foot and the bag. Only a superhuman could have made that call, pennant race or not.
