  1. I think this move is going to backfire. No matter who we pitch against Santana we're probably going to lose. Now we pitch Suppan in a game we'd have a decent chance of winning in a Gallardo/Pelfrey matchup, but with Suppan we're screwed. Ugh....with the possibility of getting swept by Cincy tomorrow, then heading to NY where we'll be lucky to win 1, this is setting up to get ugly really fast.
  2. You would have to think that at least has to be in the back of Melvin's mind. Unless he has no interest in going to Milwaukee? You would think he would take any suitor though...I'm fairly certain that Pedro wants no part of Milwaukee. He'll end up in L.A. or Anaheim in June. Say what you want about our city but it's just not attractive to the big name egos in baseball.
  3. What are you guys talking about? Didn't you hear, "Sup' pitched great." Having those flashbacks again!
  4. I know 6 games is a tiny sample when looking at a full baseball season but I think it's safe to say the following: -Suppan is a major liability in the rotation (master of the obvious). Why Macha had him start the first game is beyond me. He is going to be the Glendon Rusch of this year's team...I predict he will be out of the rotation by late May with an 0-6 record and and ERA over 6. -The bullpen is below average without a healthy Hoffman. I'm ok with a bullpen of McClung, Stetter, Coffey, Villa and an effective Hoffman; Julio is a joke and I think a combo of Villa/Hoffman for the 8th/9th would be great. -The offense will be above average when it's all said and done. We've played 5 of 6 games against All-Star starting pitchers (and relievers if you count Marmol) and done alright, not great but it should only get easier from here on. -Rivera needs to play more. In his limited playing time, he's shown he can hit the ball so why not give him more chances especially when Kendall is ice cold. Overall, it feels like we are a good starter and a good reliever away from contending. In other words, right now we're a pretty average team (78-84 wins). Whether or not we can hold things together for most of the season and hope Melvin can make a decent deal or two in July remains to be seen.
  5. I agree. If there is one pitch you don't throw to Soriano, it's a fastball at the knees. It's as if that is the only pitch he is looking for.
  6. If those who went to the game today would be kind enough to share some thoughts on what the atmosphere was like, were there a ton of Cubs fans, traffic, any funny stories, etc. I think many on this board would appreciate it.

  8. I was going to post my game thoughts but that pretty much says everything I was going to say. Now watch us lose 1-0 tomorrow! As excited as I am to have baseball back, I certainly don't miss the crummy feeling after a loss...just one game, I know, I know.
  9. I'll toss my name in for the Sheets ball....thanks!
  10. You know how easy it is to pick up a 6 pack of plastic Miller Lite bottles and sneak them in under your clothes, especially when it's chilly out? A 6 pack of plastic bottles is $6 and my two buddies and I each take two in. 6 beers in the park costs over $42!!! The concessions stands will always thrive because on any given night, 2/3rds of the attendance is there for a treat and get to splurge a little. They could raise beer prices to $10 and you'd still see the frat boys and young businessmen handing over $50-$60 for a round of brews.
  11. Dude...you need a new avatar. That just looks bad.
  12. For those complaining about fees, the Cubs charge $4.50 per ticket PLUS 9% SALES TAX! And I won't even go into the costs of parking and overall hassles of going to a game at the dump known as Wrigley. And yet there are still people out there that think a game at Miller Park is too expensive.
  13. Did anyone get a response/win a chance to by opening day tickets? I thought the Brewers were going to notify everyone today, but none of my work buddies nor myself got any type of message from the Brewers. Maybe they're only notifying the winners?
  14. It's probably a long shot, but does anyone have a account code they did not use that I could have? I logged out and did not get White Sox tickets. If so, please send me a PM. Thanks.
  15. A guy???? How can they hire a GUY after Trenni?!?
  16. I have a hard time believing that there are only single seats left for the 4/11 Cubs game. That's what it's telling me when I try to buy tix for that game. Same thing for the 5/9 game.
  17. Jeez....and here I thought since this is only for season ticket holders that there wouldn't be major delays. This is as bad as tickets on sale to the general public.
  18. Did anyone else get the "technical difficulties" message? I've filled my shopping cart with tickets twice only to have them all get erased. Then I got kicked out entirely and asked to reenter my password. This is not the smoothest operation in the world, by a long shot.
  19. No other sports get scrutinized to the extent of MLB because they all have random drug testing and rules against performance enhancing drugs. Heck, NFL players can hardly take anything sold at GNC these days and if they test positive, they get suspended.
  20. Andy Mazur is brutal! Used to hear him when he would fill in for Pat Hughes on Cubs games (when Hughes would miss half an inning to go to the can)....the most monotone, boring radio personality I've heard.
  21. Wow...not so sure about that first photo.
  22. Is there any chance we'll see a rain delay today? It would be nice to have an hour or two delay that forces Santana to leave the game.
  23. Pretty sure the Cubs would much rather play the Dodgers than us or the Mets2 Comments: -What exactly are the Cubs going to be hiding from the Mets? This isn't football. They're not going to go with a "vanilla" offense in order to hide their playbook for October. - I'm pretty sure the Cubs would be just find playing the Brewers or Mets at any time during the playoffs. In fact, I'd bet they would rather play the Brewers/Mets instead of the Phillies/Dodgers.
  24. Anyone know if the Cubs are planning on resting players for the last 7 games? I haven't seen anything, but I can't imagine they'll be playing their regulars all week (of course I hope they rest everyone against us).
