    He overachieved last year and slumped to start this year is my theory on it. He's a 270ish hitter without much power or speed.

    I think its because everyone on the team had multiple hits and the wind was blowing out~. However I think Jenkins will post an 830+ OPS after the all star break. He did last year, he's showing more patience at the plate, all he needs to do is start driving the ball more. Sitting vs lefties doesn't hurt either.

    I'd say thats because for whatever reason he's not throwing many curves. Maybe they make him dizzy still or something. But when a player can sit on a fastball you are going to have problems finishing them.

    Its really been two one week stretches that have killed Jenkins numbers this year. Take out those 2 weeks and he has around an .820 OPS on the year. Of course you can't take out those 2 weeks and those 2 weeks are just dreadful so you get his sub .700 OPS.

    "Anyone know his OBP for the past week? " .423 OBP .837 OPS If you take out his 0 for 25 slump (yeah its not realistic but humor me, heh) He has a .405 OBP and 1.000 OPS on the month assuming no HBP this month.

    He has 58 K's in 66 IP, thats a good K rate. He has 16 BB's in 66 IP, thats not bad at all either. The HR's are the only really big concern to me. I wasn't expecting a rerun of last year, I was expecting a 3ish era, WHIP somewhere around 1.05. There is still plenty of time for him to reach those numbers.

    Well the good news is, Rusch usually leaves by the middle of the 6th inning even when he's pitching well. The cubs bullpen is not very good, so if we can keep it close until the 6th I like our chances given the quality of pinch hitters we have on the bench.

    Rusch hasn't let in more than 2 ER's in any start this year except against NYY and Bos... I don't think this is going to be as easy as it looks. Granted his secondary numbers are worse than his ERA.

    Its good to see a backup catcher hitting lower than Moeller.

    I'm at work so unable to watch the game, how does Ohka look with a bat? Is he as lost as most of our other pitchers?

    Give Tomo a break, he's pretty new with the team and it takes time for Yost to teach them how to BATTLE out there.

    Well i personally think we have one of the better overall pitching staffs in baseball, its top 6 or 7 top to bottom. That means if the hitting does take off (which is unlikely), yes we'll be scary good. As in wild card contention good.

    I don't know if we really want the person batting in front of Jenkins to be bunting runners over given his performance on the year.

    Baseball is a streaky game, Jenkins is a streaky guy. Last month he hit 272 with 14 walks for a 369 OBP, hardly an automatic out. His big problem was the lack of power last month. This month he has come out very very cold, but to say he should be benched on a regular basis is not going to help the team. Sitting against lefties, sure I can see that.
