  1. Yeah, seeing as a pitcher will go down. Its really a question of who goes when Morgan returns.
  2. Way to go Boggs! Now that's some pop! Get Almonte off this team baby!
  3. The problem is that to score from third on a grounder in those situation you have to take off on contact. So it really can't be the runners judgment. If he doesn't run on contact, he'll likely be cut down at home plate. And you aren't sacrificing the runner at 3rd, because the runner from first should get to 3rd anyway, which Lucroy messes up obviously. At worst, you should end up with runners at 1st and 3rd with 1 out. Obviously, we screwed it up about as bad as possible last night, but normally that won't happen.
  4. Career Home ERA 3.48. Away ERA 5.06. His home park clearly helps him. Sure it has a short porch right down the left field line, but the rest of the walls are extremely deep. Last year, Minute Maid was the third best pitcher's park in the league behind Safeco and Tropicana.
  5. Very happy to see Boggs starting over Almonte. Good thing Roenicke realizes he's better than him. Nieves starting is for two reasons. It's a day game after a night game, and Wolf is starting. Lucroy and Wolf have just never meshed. Oh well, at least Rickie is back too.
  6. Yeah, he really has nothing credible to base this on. If he did his research, he'd find that Attanasio has been quoted as saying he's not leaving the Brewers, and likes owning our team.
  7. I doubt it. There's really no place for him once Saito and Parra come back. We'll have a full pen of Ax, Loe, Saito, Hawkins, Mitre, Braddock/Stetter, and Parra.
  8. He was available, and warming in the bullpen as Green got rocked last night.
  9. Yeah, I know it's personal philosophy. I'm just saying that you really can't get on Roenicke for putting that play on. Most managers would do the same thing. If you want 2nd and 3rd with 1 out there, then just bunt it.
  10. No it certainly does not. We proved that pretty well last year. Hopefully the bottom of the order can be good enough also. Betancourt, Morgan/Gomez, and Lucroy isn't horrible. They can provide at least some production for us.
  11. Well, you have no idea where the ball will end up on the contact play. If the ball is hit into a double play situation they would either throw home or allow the run to score, which is why the contact play was put on there. It has it's drawbacks yes, but overall it is a good play to put on in that situation. Especially, with a hitter like Almonte at the plate. He is susceptible to the DP, so it makes sense to try to avoid that, or get lucky and get the run. It's unfortunate that it turned out the way it did, but it could've worked also. Just got unlucky on the play. You have to commit whether or not to take off from third before the ball is hit in that kind of situation, or you have no chance of scoring on any ground ball.
  12. I concur, but Corey will be back on Tuesday, so only 2 more games of this crap. Hopefully Boggs starts in RF tomorrow over Almonte.
  13. Actually, it's the right play to go home on that. It keeps you out of the double play, and you score if they misplay it at all. Also, the runner from first should be able to get to third anyway, which Lucroy stupidly didn't. I don't fault the call to send the runner home at all.
  14. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/120556459.html Roenicke considered sticking with Ax in the 10th, and he should've. Also, apparently Green had been good and kept the ball down in his previous outings. Idk what Roenicke is looking at. I really hope he doesn't think Green is actually good.
  15. Braddock hasn't been bad, and he's a better option to pitch against righties. Stetter is purely a loggy, and can't do much besides getting the occasional out against lefites. Braddock can do that, and give you a full inning or two also if need be.
  16. Hart has only played in 4 games in Nashville. He missed all of spring training. I hardly think it's unnecessary for him to be down there. He'll be back Tuesday, and that's still probably not enough at-bats for him. Parra is coming off a back injury, and has only made 4 appearances after missing all of spring training also. Same thing for him. I don't have a problem with either of them still rehabbing. The problem I have is Almonte making the roster over Boggs and Cruz coming out of ST, and Green making the roster over someone like McClendon or Justin James. Or for this game specifically, I have a problem not using Mitre over Green. Mitre has a 0.00 ERA so far, and Green has been nothing but horrible. There wasn't much we could do about Almonte with Weeks unavailable.
  17. The better options are the people on the DL. If I had it my way Green would be DFA'd on Tuesday to make room for Hart. Then we can send out Kintzler when Saito returns, Stetter when Parra returns, Estrada when Greinke returns, and then DFA Almonte when Morgan returns. Then we should be pretty much good to go in the pen. A nice bullpen of... CL Axford SU Saito/Loe MR Hawkins/Mitre LOGGY/MR Braddock LR Parra
  18. Pretty sure he's wrong on that. I think Stetter does have an option left. I guess someone else can clarify on that. As far as I know, we only used options on him in '08 and '10, because he was up all year in '09.
  19. I definitely would've just left Axford in for the 10th. Otherwise, I'd go with Mitre. Green is clearly our worst pitcher right now. He will be gone once all of our pitchers are off the DL.
  20. There's no way he was available tonight. No matter what Roenicke said. He would've gotten Almonte's AB if he was.
  21. He will go. Just look at the numbers in the pen. We have Greinke, Parra, and Saito on the DL. Greinke replaces Estrada, Parra replaces Stetter, Saito replaces Green. Kintzler will do down when Hart comes back.
  22. Sure glad we put in Kintzler in this situation..... One good outing shouldn't make him consistently get chances in close games. There were plenty of better options here. Now it's gonna be tough to come back.
  23. I'm feeling a walk-off by someone tonight. Idk who yet. Haven't gotten that far, lol.
  24. Yeah, the situation has definitely been handled well. I thought for sure Prince was gone this offseason, but when I knew he was coming back I just decided to stop thinking about his contract situation. I just want to enjoy him this year, and cheer him on. Hopefully he will help us get back to the playoffs, and then we can all give him a nice send off. I appreciate what he has done, and will be sad to see him go, but the situation is what it is.
