  1. Did anyone try the player's lot this last homestand? If so, any luck
  2. Has anyone been to a game yet this year? I heard that you can no longer get autographs at the player's lot before or after games. Heard that they put something up that makes it impossible. Just wondering if anyone else knew anything about this.
  3. I definetly understand your point about it being nice not to have to stampede to get an autograph, however, like you said you can't really compare the two. Getting a team poster signed is great but really not the same as getting a pro team something. Even a top flight college team, UNC, wouldn't compare to professional athletes.
  4. That is why I liked the Block Parties. I know some people had bad experiences at some, but the Whitefish Bay one was nice. Everyone was in one long line, the employees got there and walked everyone single file to the player's line they were there for. Done like that there is really no way to be unfair. It will be interesting to see how they handle it.
  5. I agree with you that if you get there at 5am you shouldn't be the same place in line as someone who got there at 8am, however, what makes you think that the same thing won't happen here? Even if they let every single person in the door in single file, the autographs won't be right away, so people will still be running and pushing and everything else.
  6. It also says that they expect a full roster to be there and will announce specifics later. By having it in January you are giving players, Fielder, a built in excuse to not be there. I would think most guys will be there but I bet there will be some family vacations or prior commitments too.
  7. I really don't think there will be fewer people, if anything, I think they are expecting more at this year's event. People will pay $25 for Braun instead of waiting until mid-season and paying $100++. Everyone is going to assume that there will be fewer people and this will lead to the same lines.
  8. Anybody else upset that the Brewers are charging for autographs at this years On Deck? Tickets are $15 ahead of time and $20 at the door as well. I also don't like the change of venue. I think they took a nice event and ruined it. Are the players' doing so poorly financially that they need to charge for autographs. I suppose Autograph Fridays will be done now too, unless they charge for it.
  9. Anybody think I would have any luck at the player's lot before Sunday's game? I didn't know if the players would be more willing to sign before the last game or not, or if there would be a ton of people there.
  10. I would also like to get Gamel, however, I am affraid of how many people will be there Saturday/Sunday
  11. Not to burst a bubble, but I'm pretty sure he didnt physically take the time to switch the balls himself. He signs a bunch of balls pre-season & mid-season and then gives them to his personal assistant. When she gets the mail, she just sticks one of the pre-signed balls in the return envelope and voila! While it's a nice thought, the reason you got a different ball back was because he wasn't available to sign the one you sent. Hence, he probably never seen the ball you sent, didn't personally take the time to switch it himself. But atleast you got an item back. I am sure you are correct, but hey works for me!
  12. I also got a Bob Uecker ball back in the mail. Took about 10 days from the time I sent it to get it back. I actually sent a cheap ball in case I didn't get it back I wouldn't be out much, but to my suprise he sent back an Official Major League Ball signed big on the Sweet Spot. I am pretty impressed that he would actually take the time to switch balls when it obviously would have been much easier just to sign what I sent.
  13. Nick isn't the only problem. There are always the same 6 or 7 people there. Argue all you want that they aren't collectors, but no one needs 20 autographs of one player. I go to the lot about 5 times a year and sure enough the same people are there. The players don't sign anymore because they know what is going on. In the beginning of last year you could go and get Hart, Hardy, Weeks, Jenkins, Cordero every day now you are lucky to get Riske.
  14. That is what I mean though, that it seems like anybody with talent on our team has some exclusive contract but other guys who come here aren't. At the On Deck event when I got to Gagne I said it is great to have a Cy Young in Milwaukee and he just put it on there. I don't know if he did because I didn't ask or what.
  15. I am really suprised to hear that CC signed sweet spot and did the Cy Young inscription. At the Brewers On Deck event, Gagne signed sweet spot for me and put the inscription. Here are two former Cy Youngs who sign sweet spot and inscriptions, and yet I can't get Corey Hart to sweet spot any more.
  16. When I was about 3 people from getting my autograph, a dad lifted his little son over the chains and handed him a bat and said now remember where I want him to sign. Somebody else in line told the dad that he wouldn't let his kid in. That was definetly a case of the dad wanting the autograph and the kid not knowing what is going on.
  17. I even had people offer money to cut in line, but I told them look people have been here for hours and that wouldn't be fair to those people. I understand if you want an autograph you need to try hard, but to me that means getting there early and waiting it out, not cutting in lines.
  18. I also went to the block party in Whitefish Bay. I got there just after 7am and was about the 20th person in the Braun line. The first couple of guys said they got there at 2:30am, which is just ridiculous considering they got there almost 5 hours before me and got their autograph about 3 minutes before me. Overall, I was very happy with the way the block party was ran. The only frustrating part was that it was almost impossible to take pictures of Braun while he was signing because there were so many people who weren't in the autograph line who were trying to squeeze in to at least get a picture. Overall, I thought the block party was a good time, however, I do like the set-up of the Brewers On-Deck event better where they hand out things to the people in line so you know right away if you are going to get an autograph. It seemed more organized and prevented people from trying to cut in line at the last minute, which happened a lot today.
  19. I can't wait to go tomorrow and stand in line for hours and then see who else doesn't show up.
  20. Maybe he really does have something going on, but it seems like this always happens with Fielder. Maybe he really dislikes Milwaukee
  21. I am curious as to why they would cancel them.
  22. Thanks for the different ideas. Do you know if Uecker signs the sweet spot or does he sign a side panel? Also, have you had luck with players signing balls through the mail?
  23. When sending a ball do you send two boxes or do you use large padded envelopes?
  24. I was hoping someone could help me out with the Brewer Block Parties. Are these worth going to? If so, how early do you get there? I see the final parties have Fielder and CC at one park and Braun and Hart at another. I would really like to go get Braun, but am curious if it is worth it. I don't want to wait in line forever and not get anyone. I would appreciate any advice.
