  1. Sounds like it just basically turned into the Bucks sending the 24th pick to OKC and they're sending Adams back to NOLA. Doesn't sound like there's anything else coming the Bucks way...
  2. You have ANY hope that they may include the Kings in that trade? I mean...apparently, Bogdan didn't want to move forward because he thought the trade would be voided and he'd be left out, but he hasn't signed yet and teams are using up their cap space. At this point, just do some George Steinbrenner type moves and promise someone you'll pay them in the future. Trade for Bogdan, let him sign a 1 year 9.5 million dollar deal(or whatever) and then promise him a 4/80 the following off-season. Of course that wouldn't happen, but the Bucks are getting into some pretty dangerous territory here. They're going to be worse in the regular season...which is fine. But if you don't get another player who's a shooter but who can also create a little bit, we could be in worse shape than we were last year with a tougher road to the finals this year.
  3. It's too bad the one guy that could accurately gauge body fat from a photo no longer posts here This is true...I haven't been studying body fat as some other experts have for years! Really though, I think the way Giannis remade his body is extremely rare. For a guy that long, that lanky to add that much muscle, it's impressive and shows you he's just a different type of dude. Maker didn't have to go through the Giannis makeover. He just had to get a little stronger. His best year was his rookie year and he just never really took the next step. That said...he IS a FA and we could do worse if we wanted to add some depth. Just sayin.
  4. And now a FOUR team trade. I wonder if Justin Holliday is a part of that...maybe? Steven Adams going back to the Pelicans. I'm still holding out some hope that the Kings end up in that trade with Bogdonavich. The Bucks have to have some other options. Letting Matthews leave to LA but spending more on Connaughton...it just doesn't make a ton of sense to me unless they've got a plan to add a 4th option.
  5. Agreed...that's half the fun of the Baseball season. Following the farm system. This whole process is going to be interesting. Projecting which guys who haven't played past LowA in some cases could translate to the big league team.
  6. I don't understand the NBA's CBA that well, but usually, an expiring contract is viewed as an asset. The Bucks MUST have a pretty good idea that there aren't any realistic sign and trade options to make it worth holding onto that salary. So we're gonna have to hope that people really want to play with Jrue and Giannis. I wonder if the Bucks would have been as eager to make the trade for Jrue if they'd believed the Bogdan trade would fall through. It felt like a justified overpay for Jrue since we were getting another stud without having to give up much. But now we're really stuck in limbo. I just hope due to teams trying to save cap space for next year and the financial hit the league took, FA salaries are suppressed. Then maybe we can end up with someone who'd normally get a bigger deal.
  7. Hayward just opted out of a 34.2 million dollar player option. I can't imagine he's going to come here to take a ~4/40 deal. He'd be a great addition and two years+ after that injury and now not having to play with two other elite wings at the same position.
  8. Mitch Trubisky is a pretty good example of both how quickly a QB is expected to develop now. 15 years ago a QB who started basically 3 years and was 26-18 with 54/32 TD/INT ratio and a rating of 86...he'd be considered a franchise QB. Peyton Manning through roughly the same period had a .500 record and threw more picks than TD's. But now they're expected to hit the ground running. But I remember that draft a little differently. Trubisky was regarded as the safest pick and I thought he was regarded by everyone as a top 3-5 pick by most people. Both he and Mahomes were guys I'd heard very little about. It was a pretty big surprise that the Chiefs moved all the way up to get him and I remember how some NFL teams didn't have a 1st round grade on Watson...in part due to turnovers in College and questions about his arm strength. For my part, I'm done quessing how good QB's will be in the NFL. I thought Mahomes would be a worse version of Favre based on what little I'd seen from him at Tech and that Watson would be a solid QB because he was smart and a good leader, but not a stud. And I was thrilled to see Trubisky go to Chicago as I thought he'd be a huge bust(Which he hasn't been...he's just unfairly compared to the two QB's picked after him).
  9. We could feasibly move Brook Lopez, but that opens a big can of worms. John Hollinger of The Athletic had a pretty good explanation of how the Bucks can make the Bogdanovic trade (or a similar trade) still work. He also brought up a good point on whether they might be better off without the Bogdan trade (assuming Giannis still signs the supermax either way). It's a persuasive argument, but I'm not buying it. I looked at the Jrue deal as an overpay whereas Bogdan was a great deal. It gave us the best starting 5 in the league and added TWO guys who can be playmakers. Bogdan is an underrated playmaker. Kinda reminds me of Kukoc in terms of just making smart plays to give guys easy baskets. Plus, I was confident the Bucks would be able to add some veterans who got bought out, helping with any depth issues. What's really annoying is the NBA sticking their noses in. They look the other way when any large market team does something like this, but they're going to investigate NOW? Please...
  10. We could feasibly move Brook Lopez, but that opens a big can of worms. I'd be happy to swap Lopez if it meant getting Hield in return...but I'm not sure the Kings would do that or if that would even be enough.
  11. Last year we did a sign and trade with Indiana sending Brogdon to Indiana for a 1st and two seconds. I think we can do the same with Sacramento. BB for DDV and Wilson and a couple of 2nds. They probably want that more than Ersan anyway. The Pacers had the cap space to sign Brogdon last year with or without the sign and trade. Because he was a restricted free agent and the Bucks COULD have matched had they wanted to, they worked out the trade. The Bucks don't have the cap space to do the same with Bogdan. And now cutting Ersan...seems like they could have waited until tomorrow to cut him, but the deal would seem to be completely dead now. I thought he was gonna score 20 a game and hit 40 pct from 3 in this system. This sucks.
  12. Maker was 3 inches taller and 30 pounds heavier than Giannis. And he was a freak athlete(3rd highest vertical in combine history for a player his height). So I don't see any comparison to Bol or Bradley. He also had plenty of room to fill out his frame. I don't agree his frame was much different. Maker has broad shoulders and could have put on the weight if he'd been willing to put in the time. The bottom line...at least IMO, Maker could have been a really good player. He just didn't put in the time or the work that Giannis did. Edit-https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2639737-thon-maker-nba-combine-2016-measurements-analysis-and-draft-projection There's a whole run-down in there and reasons why Maker would take a couple of years to develop, but my point is more about the picture of him. I'm not trying to do a whole..."guess his body fat" game, rather just point out that he's the frame to be the stretch 4 they'd hoped he'd be. He STILL has that upside. Still...if we had picked Sabonis, we might be celebrating our 2nd Chip in Milwaukee.
  13. So if we were to sign a couple of guys... let's say Karim Mane and Myles Powell to two-way deals...would those count against the cap if we don't have a full 15 man roster? If we just sign a UDFA, that's ~700K more than if a 2nd round pick, right?
  14. Alright then...they're really playing with my emotions here! Maybe he'll just come to Milwaukee using the MLE, sign a 4 year deal for the ~40 or so million we can spend, and then put an opt-out in there in case Giannis leaves or so we can pay him more next year and not lose DD? I put the odds of that happening at about .01 pct but seems like it's still 50/50 he ends up in Milwaukee.
  15. Yeah...he just won his 2nd straight MVP and DPOY award! But I take your point...and I'd still take that chance. Maker DID have all the ability to be a star. Maybe if he'd been in a better system or maybe it was just his work ethic. But when you hit on those guys, it changes your franchise. That said, as I watched looked closer at the draft, the more I was hoping we'd grab Winston with that 1st 2nd round pick(or only, I don't know). I guess the logic that because a guy has played 3 years of CBB, he doesn't have a huge upside is flawed. Kawhi was hardly a blue chip NBA prospect.
  16. I see that...Marks was on the ESPN Broadcast and he's the one guy who's saying they got just the 60th. The Atlantic said they got both and someone linked that in the first couple pages. So I don't know if they got the kid from Kentucky. He would seem to fit what the Pelicans need more than the Bucks(A Center to play next to Zion). We'll find out in the next few days, but he's not all that interesting of a prospect. He's a backup Center with limited offense. So, we'll see.
  17. No. If they match someone else's offer, the rules treat him as a newly signed FA. They couldn't trade him until the middle of the year. Right....of course, that makes sense. I'm just trying to justify still believing the Bucks will end up with him! I remember reading why they do it that way...but you're right. Can't remember the last time a team selected a player with the intention to trade him. I would guess it'd be Eli and the Chargers? But this is why so many Bucks fans and other NBA fans believe that the Bucks traded away Dirk...which has been a fun talking point for years.
  18. Yeah, that was the tweet I'd seen when I said it looked dead. A lot of compelling arguments as to why it could still happen. But the fact that they had a sign and trade worked out before they were allowed to negotiate was questionable. People are arguing this is a smoke-screen so as to avoid the appearance of tampering(which is kinda rich given how that's such an open secret around the league). Maybe he just wants to gauge the market and if he'd like, sign with the Knicks and score 20PPG while winning roughly as many games in the next 3yeras as the Bucks will win this year. Who knows. So I'm still gonna cling to hope when free agency starts, he doesn't get a bigger deal and or realizes the Bucks provide the best opportunity to win a ring. Otherwise, I guess I'll take comfort in the fact that we'll still have DD and we'll be able to go out and sign someone else and the rules that would have limited us, re; the hard cap and sign and trades, aren't quite so cumbersome.
  19. They've got the 42nd(according to a few outlets) and the 60th. But those will technically be the Pelicans picks. Definitely the 45th and the 60th picks though. Pretty sure it's the 42nd as well as it's just one guy who says we don't while most others say we did get the 42nd in return.
  20. Yeah, the story that Bogdanovic is going to leave, most likely to the Knicks, Hornetts or another team(a 3rd bad team) rather than the Bucks, a place he wanted to go, doesn't make sense to me. I really like DD, but this trade seemed to put them over the top when it comes to the playoffs.
  21. It's weird...some people are saying it's that, other are saying there was NEVER any agreement and the Bucks just kept hoping it'd happen. I mean...the Kings could just match any offer he got(assuming it wasn't ridiculous) and trade him anyway. I wonder how high they are on DD. The reason people were surprised by this from what I've gleaned, was they thought Hield would be the guy who'd get dealt, not Bogdan. Maybe the Bucks swing a deal for him? I don't know what other than DD they've got...butt...who knows. The Bucks will add at least one more SOLID guard one way or another.
  22. In order for it to be a ruse to avoid tampering, wouldn't the team that's been "wrong" have to file a claim and pay for an investigation into tampering? I hope you're right...but I'm not real confident. He DID say he wanted to play with Giannis...so I don't know. I guess the Kings would just match whatever he signs for and then flip him to the Bucks as he's a RFA. Though I doubt we'd do that since he's said he doesn't want to come here. When this first happened, there were people saying they were surprised they'd be moving on from Bogdan as it looked more like Heild would be the one on the way out. Maybe the Bucks can still pull off a trade for Buddy Hield? Edit-The post I was replying to is now gone...but it said that someone on Twitter was convinced it was still going to happen and that his was a ruse to avoid tampering charges. I'm inclined to believe the Lakers themselves may have also tampered and told Bogdan he was their top priority since they were in heavy pursuit of him as well. We'll see how it plays out.
  23. Apparently, the deal is dead(as of now)...Bogdanovic is going to enter free agency looking for other sign and trade options. That is a MASSIVE blow to the Bucks. What can they do to recover from this? Now use the MLE and hope the market is suppressed enough to get a Harris type player to sign? I don't know, this whole thing sounds weird. He wanted to come to Milwaukee, but other GM's were upset that the two teams had already worked out a deal.
  24. LOL...yes, I did. I actually had to drive down to Illinois and was mostly listening to the Milwaukee stations, but flipped over to 1000(whoever they are)...and the calls were hilarious. The "fixes" were all just...priceless. Most centered around a franchise QB for next to nothing. Darnold was headed there(that actually makes sense). Luck in another...he'd come back and instead of playing for the team that owns his rights and has a great OL, he'd somehow end up in Chicago. Haskins was another. Not sure what he'd do. I definitely hope they don't end up with Darnold. Pretty sure they'd ruin him, but he's talented enough I don't want to give Nagy that chance.
  25. Mason seems to be a real good bet. I think bringing in another good guard is important. Preferably a PG or a combo guard who can play the point, but I don't want Mason to be our 2nd option. Connaughton-Really thinks he comes back as well. Just doubt there'll be a big market for him. He's not a great shooter or scorer, but a really nice defender and glue guy. The only guy I'm reasonably sure we won't be able to sign is Wood. I think he'll get 10 million or so. IF we were able to spend our full MLE this year, he'd be a candidate, but I guess we can't. The Bucks now have a Championship contender(a stronger one than the past two years)...but they've also got a short enough bench that guys can come here and really contribute to winning a chip. Dwight Howard signed a Vet Minimum last year and he was a really nice addition to the Lakers. I just hope after being locked in the Bubble last year Giannis maybe softened his stance a bit on fraternizing with "the enemy" and maybe he'll be able to sell some guys on coming to Milwaukee.
