  1. At QB. The Hall of All time Greats at DL, OL, MLB'er, and some other positions.
  2. I think it's entirely likely there are 4-5 QB's from what was a terrible 10 year period who get in. I've always thought Luck would come back after taking a couple of years off. I think Matt Ryan and Stafford have arguments. And there are quite a few guys who are just getting going from that time frame. New England has draft picks and more salary cap room than just about any other team. Dak is certainly off to a very strong start. Goff is 25 years old and when you take away his Jeff Fischer season, he's put up pretty big numbers. Carson Wentz looks awful, but he was easily on a HOF trajectory coming into this season and I'm not writing him off at age 28. Hell, even David Carr is now in a situation where he could thrive. They've given him a ton of weapons, he has a nice body of work before Gruden got there and he's still got potentially 10 years left. I think there's a good chance you get at least 4 QB's from this group that makes it to the Hall, not just one. And given many others are still on the right side of 20 and have put up big numbers, it's way too early to write off many of them.
  3. Or how about Troy Aikman? He was a no-brainer. 1st ballot HOF'er. 165 TD's, threw for 20 just one season.
  4. As does the FIRST undefeated NFL team, the '29 Packers. Or...rather they would breathe a sigh of relief, but I don't think any are still breathing. Still...12 wins, 0 losses, 22 points given up all season. Can you get that DC on the phone? I'll give it a try...but at this point, I'm willing to go with pretty much anyone other than who we've got. Not since Mike Sherman was out GM have I been more convinced we've got the wrong person in the wrong job.
  5. I thought this dude was a Urlacher like Backer after his rookie year(with Leonard being a Brooks type). I don't know what's happened to him.
  6. This makes sense...but like all of 2020 is just a weird thing to wrap my brain around. Having to have a vaccine card to go to a game. I can't even imagine the tantrums some people would throw if this was implemented and they were turned away.
  7. Right....but isn't the purpose of the thread to discuss Hader trades? I'd hold onto Williams unless we got Lux back(wouldn't literally take Lux).

  9. That's kinda true, but he's also had some extremely talented teams to work with and the Chargers notoriously underperformed. Well it's not "fair," but does anyone think David Bakhtiari is close to being a HOF'er at the moment? Or Neil Smith? But I'd be shocked if at least 10 QB's active right now don't make it to the HOF and I would bet the over on that. The fact that most of us agree Eli Manning will be in the HOF(or Rivers for that matter) just shows how skewed it is. It's just not an accurate representation of the best players of all time.
  10. I just don't think the NFL HOF is that important. It's not like Baseball where you get accurately evaluate guys across different positions or at least try to. How do you compare a DL like Rosey Grier in the pre-sack ERA to a QB playing in an era in which a literal bump on the head will get you flagged for 15 yards? So they let all the QB's in.
  11. Sharpe should be in, Butler should get stronger consideration and Isabel if we're going back that far. But since Kramer got in, Sharpe's clearly the most deserving Packer not yet in.
  12. Is anyone denying that the vastly different rules that are in place almost exclusively to protect the QB's and encourage more points is helping QB's? It's a huge fact and I think that was the point when people were bringing up what QB's who played in the past would do in today's NFL. But I don't think Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers would fail in any era. And the young guys coming in now, many of them are able to use their legs to help their team move the ball until they can develop other parts of their game.
  13. This is one retread I would consider. Otherwise, I'd be looking to find the next up-and-comer DC instead of rehashing guys that have been at several places with diminishing returns and trying to recapture that one magical team where it all clicked for them. Fangio's a good DC and has been for a long time. I still think what Williams has done over the course of his career has been pretty impressive. Just about anyone would be better than Pettine IMO. The Packers have a lot of talent on defense and I don't think they're a very good team.
  14. I don't believe Harden will ever win a title he is a great player just like Barkley he is just not someone who will ever win due to chemistry issues. Maybe...maybe he'd have won a few had the Thunder been willing to spend another 3 million dollars. I think that trade would probably shorten the window with Giannis(assumed he re-signed) but maybe open it a bit more this year. Harden would have to make significant concessions. It's totally unrealistic anyway.
  15. Sounds good. Hopefully, he spends at least 2 more years developing.
  16. You don't think that his off-the-field issues will cause him problems in this regard? I know it was posed to me but I help but stop and think, does the majority of people even know he had any off-field issues in his past? Other than a random tweet I run across with him, I don't know if I ever even see it mentioned. I don't think the average person does, but the NFL voters certainly do. Either way, it doesn't seem to follow him.
  17. Well I'd disagree with regard to Rodgers, but they literally changed the rules for that generation of QB and those types of QB's aren't coming out today. And if they did, would the league wait while Peyton Manning struggled for several years? Manning threw 26 TD's and 23 picks his 4th year and 27 and 19 his 5th year. QB's are coming in and thriving almost immediately right now. You just had two guys win MVP's in their 2nd season, Kyler Murray looks like a stud, Josh Allen the same. The youngest player you named was 37 years old and I think most people would describe him as a mobile QB. The other are in their 40's, one's retired. Rivers isnt' really thriving and hasn't for a while, but he's put up the career stats. Pocket passers CAN obviously still have success, but they take a little longer to have an impact on the game and those guys aren't given the same rope they once were.
  18. Big Ben's a lock as well. I forgot about him. I don't know if Matt Ryan gets in, but that's as much because he's declining whereas I still think Stafford CAN be elite. But QB's are disproportionately valued in the NFL. Out of the top 100, 15 of the best players in the NFL are not QB's...Kirk Cousins is not one of the 50 best players in the NFL, but he's around there in the NFL top 100 this year. So aside from Big Ben being a lock due to the two Super Bowls and the numbers, given how highly valued QB's are, how do you leave Stafford out? I guess if his career were to end abruptly, maybe not, but he's only 32 and he's been a pretty good QB on a pretty awful team for a while now. Matt Ryan was probably that a 2nd half meltdown from being close to a SB lock at this point as well. An MVP and a SB win gets most guys in.
  19. For sure, and Warren Moon would be an MVP candidate every year if he played now. If Moon and Marino played in the NFL now it would be hard to choose between who would be the MVP every year it would basically be Moon or Marino as the MVP with everyone else not even having a chance. Marino and Moon were both great...but I don't think they have anything on Mahomes and or Rodgers and in a given year Wilson or Watson. The rules have changed but the QB's have also changed. Marino was a statue. Moon was in that run and shoot offense that inflated his stats relative to his peers. The guy from the past who I think would thrive the most in this era would be Steve Young. He's basically Taysom Hill with Rodgers accuracy.
  20. I think Stafford should be in. I think Wilson's also a lock already. I wouldn't put Eli in, but he's going to get in. What makes it so much harder is how meaningless most of the stats mean. Take Trubisky and compare him to almost any of the greats in the '80s, 90's even the early 2000's and he looks like he's pretty good. That's a guy who's not good enough for a team and fan base that hasn't had a decent QB since Cecil Isabel was throwing to Don Hutson playing for them. It was about 10 years ago when people were talking about how bad the QB position was IIRC...and these guys keep coming out and they just keep hitting. There have been so many guys I haven't thought would make it...the latest being Herbert, but Wentz, Mahomes...I thought Watson would be a solid starter, but not spectacular. Josh Allen. I thought Lamar would take 3-4 years to develop. Mahomes...I thought there was a chance he'd develop, but that he'd be like Favre. Not the best of Favre and Rodgers the way he threw the ball up at Tech.
  21. I see this is sarcasm, but I'd gladly make that trade...provided Giannis was cool with the guy who said he had no skill teaming up with him. It'd obviously never happen...but I'd definitely make that swap.
  22. Yes... Nothing's changed my opinion on Pettine.
  23. Even if this team somehow goes on to win the Super Bowl, I still hope they get rid of him. It's often pretty hard to evaluate how good a DC is. Normally you just watch how the unit plays and if it's poorly, he gets blamed. In this case, he 100 pct deserves the blame for them playing so far below their talent level. I do think picking up Anthony Rush is going to make a HUGE difference for our run defense. I was really hoping when Seattle signed Harrison, we'd be able to grab him as they weren't going to get rid of Reed or Ford, but I think it's about 50/50 Rush is a better run defender at this point than Snacks is. I think he's going to play a pretty significant role this year and the next couple for the Packers. Again, the thing that makes me pull my hair out more than anything is the stupid slanting our DL do or how they try to shoot the gaps. If Pettine tries to make Rush do that, he'll be totally wasting his talent. So hopefully it's back to just occupying blockers and not asking them to penetrate.
  24. I don't think recruits care one way or another if you leave after your Jr year or your Sr. year. Of course, he can play 3 more years and still technically it'd be "leaving early." If he can develop into one of the top QB's in the country and the Badgers can take the next step as an offense and become a real threat throwing the ball, THAT'S going to make UW more attractive to HS QB's(and WR'ers). I think the best chance to get another elite QB prospect may come after next season when Mertz will be in his 4th year and any incoming player will see an opening in the near future at the position. Long term, if he were to be a Heisman candidate and win some awards, that'll help out even more. Ultimately, Cryst has plenty of opportunities to prove to young recruits that UW isn't just a running school. That skill players can thrive there. If Mertz can somehow get us into the playoffs, that would REALLY help our recruiting in the immediate future as much as anything.
  25. Yes, that's definitely what it is. He's in a unique situation. He could go pro next year or play 4 more seasons for the Badgers. Usually, any Redshirt Sophs that go pro comes from Alabama, Clemson, GA or they're guys who didn't meet the clearinghouse certification. That is pretty rare at UW. I had to take a foreign language the summer after HS because I didn't qualify until I did and I was warned in advance and went to a HS that walked you through all that. I know there are a lot of HS's out there who aren't aware of all the requirements to athletes must meet to be eligible to participate in their freshmen year. So you see a few each year, but it's rare. Sam Darnold was a Soph, so was Jessie Bates, Quinnen Williams, Dwayne Haskins...among others.
