  1. Yeah, those are going to be huge. I'm still not certain...and have asked for clarification. Bulaga will only have 10 years in after this year. I understand that draft pick compensation isn't determined until after the season and post-season awards, playing time...a number of factors come in, but it seems strange that they'd include the season after the player changed teams to count toward the 10-year cutoff where you can only get a 5th round pick in return. Whatever happens, it's unlikely Martinez moves up to a 3rd, so he should be a solid 4th, Bulaga is a 5th at worst and Fackrell should be a 6th. So we'll have plenty of draft capital to fill holes or move up if a player we really want is on the board. Or as I said in another post, it allows us to draft a player who's missed the year due to injury and as dropped or like with Ross from Clemson, has HUGE question marks but elite talent. And hopefully...we'll be picking 32nd in the 1st round of the draft!
  2. Alexander will have TWO years left after this year. 5 years total as a 1st round pick. I'd assume they back up the brinks truck for him as well, but they have a little more time there to work. Nope. It's a 4 year contract. Alexander is RFA in 2022. No...they're ALL 4-year deals with a team option for a 5th year. He's due to become an Unrestricted Free Agent in 2023...though he's likely to sign an extension after this year IMO. The longer it goes, the more expensive it gets. Wherever you're seeing that he's a RFA, they're wrong. The NFL changed the rookie salary structure 10 years ago. First-round picks have become more valuable due to the additional year as opposed to prior to 2011 when the top pick was immediately one of the highest-paid players in the NFL. https://frontofficenfl.com/2017/03/27/nfl-rookie-contracts-explained-fifth-year-option/
  3. They could still extend him now if they wanted to. Bahks extension doesn't prevent them from doing so. It just makes it that much more unlikely as you'd have the top paid LT, probably the top paid Center and you'll have Jenkins who I believe they'll try to extend sooner rather than later. I do hope they at least consider adjusting how they extend their young stars. Longer deals almost always favor the team when you're talking about ELITE talent when they sign at age ~24/25. Instead of the two 4 year deals, lock 'em up for 7 years. Look at Tyron Smith and JJ Watt. They were the first players(other than Albert Haynesworth) to get 100 million dollar deals. Both players have struggled with injuries, but Watt's cap hit would be 0 by now had he not restructured and he looks like a bargain and Smith's is ~10 million and his cap hit next year is minimal....particularly compared to his what his current value is. His 10 year 110 million dollar deal(which included what was left on his deal) was viewed as an outrageous contract at the time. Now it's a bargain. With a salary cap that's ALWAYS going up with the extremely rare exception due to Covid, it's more than worth it, even if you end up having to eat a little bit of the money on the backend(but even then, most of the 7-year deals are 4-year deals with outs and they're only restructured if the team wants to keep the player). Had they extended Bahk for 7 years when he was already an elite LT in 2016 for 7 years and 90 million and ~30 guaranteed instead of 4/48 and 16.7, we wouldn't have had to pay him a pretty ridiculous 4/92 with 62 guaranteed. That 7-year deal would likely have taken him through all his best years. Alexander is the next up. I'll guess he gets 4/82 with 45 guaranteed(based on what Ramsey got). He'll be about 24 when he signs. Do you think he'd turn down 7 years 135 with 60 GTD? It'd be the largest contract for a CB ever, lower cap hit and in 4 years it's entirely possible given the trajectory of player salaries that top CB's will be getting 30+ million per year. Bahk, Adams, Clark, Alexander, and Jenkins are all players you can reasonably project(or could in the case of Adams and Bahk) would have long successful careers. The only times I can remember the Packers doing this was with Woodson and Clay. And both player's contracts were relatively team-friendly toward the end. This is how Dallas is able to pay these massive deals to virtually anyone who has a good few weeks on that team. But...the Packers are gonna do what the Packers are gonna do...so...anyway...
  4. I knew you couldn't trade picks in back to back drafts because of the idiot who owned the Cavs back in the 80's, but with the draft swaps and being under the impression our '21 first went to Cleveland, I was assuming the picks we'd parted were all picks in the immediate future or had swapped them. And if we did in fact have the '21 pick, I know you can trade that after the previous years draft, so perhaps they were waiting to make the trade official until after the draft so they could include next years first. So the end of the day, we made two MASSIVE upgrades to our roster, we add two second-round picks this year, next year we've got our own 1st and we'll be able to take advantage of the MLE and the Bi-annual. I'll be very surprised if Giannis doesn't sign a 5-year extension...which would take us through 2027 and that unprotected pick. So we're not exactly flush with assets, but we do still have ways to improve the team in the near future. A VERY exciting day to be a Bucks fan! GREAT job by Horst. Recognized we needed to really change direction and managed to get TWO of the players that were on many fans "wish list," while leaving us some opportunity to add young talent the next couple of years.
  5. I still think people are sleeping on Cam Reynolds, the 6'8 2 Guard who had a very impressive rookie season(though a short one) with Minnesota as a rookie in 2018-19. I remember Minnesota fans being very upset when they let him walk. Now with the Bucks diminished depth, he could be a guy who sees a much bigger role. Could really flourish in a 3 and D role. Shot 42 pct from 3 in a small sample size for the T-Wolves.
  6. What 1st round picks do the Bucks still own from now until '27? I thought they'd traded their 1st next year, but another poster said they hadn't(I thought it was part of the George Hill trade). Then they should retain their '22 first and '23 first....as of now, right?
  7. Wait...what did you "bring to the board?" Isn't this all kinda common knowledge? I think everyone's aware he grew up a Mets fan and people have been talking about him potentially going to the Mets for several years.
  8. This is bad news for Packers fans. As crazy as it sounds, we need them to keep winning to keep Tampa at bay. Of course we need to keep winning too. The Saints schedule is easier than Tampa's. They both have two games vs the Falcons, I think the Vikings, and the Lions. But NO has played one fewer game. So while they get the Chiefs, the Buccs get the Chiefs and the Rams. Given the tie-breaker...it's a long shot.
  9. You're absolutely right. I can't watch him play...just watching the highlight of his first game back, Aaron Donald on his back and Smith taking a couple of steps with him...HOW!?! He had one leg destroyed...almost literally. Then he takes the muscle from his GOOD leg...grafts that onto the bad leg. Now after 17 surgeries and a little toothpick left for a leg...and a severely weakened left leg...and he had a contract that he'd just signed and really couldn't have been cut before this off-season and he still fights like hell to come back. Last two weeks he has 725 passing yards and has brought his team back from double-digit deficits to nearly win them games. He's definitely the type of guy you have to root for.
  10. Hey...Mitchell Trubisky is undefeated this year as the starting QB for the Bears. Just sayin'
  11. It was traded...at least I'm nearly positive it was. I don't know that they could trade 3 picks without one of them being the 24th this year.
  12. Alexander will have TWO years left after this year. 5 years total as a 1st round pick. I'd assume they back up the brinks truck for him as well, but they have a little more time there to work.
  13. plus he is one of the better defenders as a point guard. I was kinda resigned to the fact that we'd lose that elite defensive PG when we traded Bled...but to get back a defender on the same level as him...that's huge. Bled didn't play well in the post-season, but it was never a lack of effort. Not in Milwaukee in the regular season or the post-season. In fact, I think he probably tried too hard and put too much pressure on himself. But I loved the intensity he played with and how he fought through screens and was just relentless as an on-ball defender. Too bad it didn't work out...I thought back when he was backing up Chris Paul that he was going to end up being a superstar. It just hasn't materialized. Maybe down in Nola, he'll be able to take his game up a notch.
  14. Well...that sucks. The rumors about players we might sign make little sense now then, but alright. I would assume though if the Bucks found themselves right at the hard cap half-way into the season and then suffered a spate of injuries and only had 10 guys left on their active rosters, there has to be a mechanism in there that'd allow them to sign some G-league or minimum salary players, right? Like how in the NFL only the top 51 players count against the Cap so the Cap.
  15. NBA.net has Bane as the #41 and Winston at I think #58. I know they're mocked much higher than on other sites, but who knows, maybe one will be there at 40. Bane does look like he could be this year's Brogdon. They have somewhat similar profiles. Guys like Cassius Stanley will likely go ahead of those two just because he's younger and has the higher upside...so who knows, maybe, as someone else mentioned those veteran college stars who are always undervalued...maybe they're sitting there when we pick at #40. Getting the 40th and 60th picks in this draft makes this go from a great trade to a nearly perfect trade in my eyes. You still have a chance to get young talent....even if those guys are unlikely to hit.
  16. I think Howard is most likely a guy who scores 20 PPG in the G-League and never does anything in the NBA....BUT, I think the hope is he's a 6th man, a spark plug type player. A poor man Trey Young. He is 5'11 as they measure NBA players. Trey Young's just 6'1 and Fred VanVleet is just 6'1 as well. Maybe a poor man's Isaiah Thomas is a better comp. He's just 5'9 and he found a way to contribute to good teams. Plus...he's a Marquette guy, so people are familiar with him.
  17. Watching this guy's highlights...he seems like a really smart player who's going to fit in perfectly here. A very good passer...he can take guys off the dribble a little bit and create for others. He's not Toni Kukoc, but he seems like a great fit as the FOURTH option to keep the ball moving and to be able to catch and shoot and hit those threes. I'd love to get Wes back, but Bogdanovic is a huge upgrade offensively and adequate defensively. Still...I'd really hope Wes would want to come back to Milwaukee. This is his home, he'll still be in line to play ~30 minutes a game if he can. I just don't see a reason for him to go to LAL unless they can offer just that much more when he can stay here and bring a Title to the City you played your College Ball in and the State you grew up in.
  18. LOL...nice to see the rest of you are just as lost as I am. Luckily there are always a few "reillymcshanes" on these boards to help us navigate it so we don't sound like idiots.
  19. Do you think we've got a shot at someone more than just serviceable with the MLE? Again, Serge was being talked about as a potential target for the Bucks. He's near the end of his career. Do you think they'll try to add one more significant contributor or kinda piece the rest of the roster together with minimum salary guys? The problem is that we have a hard cap of approximately $139M. We cannot go over that because of the sign-and-trade deal with Bogdanovic (it's a rule that kicks in when you do a sign-and-trade). Our salary is at $123M (according to the graphic posted earlier) for 7 players. That means we have to squeeze everyone in for about $16M. And that's assuming we want to go above the tax line (which is $132M). That would only leave us about $9M. The MLE is, I think, $9.5M. But it's hard to imagine spending that all on one guy. They might want to split it up. I'm guessing we draft a couple of guys ($1M each), which helps keep costs down. I guess who we spend on will depend on who's willing to come to Milwaukee - and at what price. I'm guessing we get some decent guys, but not guarantee. Ok...I didn't know that. I thought as long as you signed the guy while you had cap space, you could still use the MLE to go over the Cap. What do they do if you were to sign a player...say Jordan Clarkson now for 4/40...and then they filled out their roster with guys making the veterans minimum? How do they enforce that? I'm not questioning you...I'm just asking questions because the NBA salary cap is easily the most convoluted. Also, are you including the likelihood that we are given some cap relief for Leuer? It SEEMS as though that's very likely to happen(but hasn't yet, so I'd assume you're not counting that into you're not figuring that in yet).
  20. I got to the second line and am convinced he will become a Buck: Has amazing wingpan (measured at almost 7 feet)… Right? I mean...Jason Kidd was TERRIBLE, but the idea made some sense. I'm just going off this kid's athletic ability, what they say about his work ethic, and then just the size and length, I'm just dreaming about a 34-year-old Jrue Holliday with a 24-year-old kid who we've brought along ready to step up and become a star. I hope they are at least thinking like this...get your older College player who can come in and contribute right away and then look for a young guy with big upside. Guys like Bam, Siakam, Luis Scola, Marc Gasol, Manu, Tony Parker...and a whole lot more were drafted later and were or ARE key to Championship caliber teams. To win it all...and keep the window open, the Bucks have to be just about perfect from here on out. We're all set right now, but I want Giannis to have an ALL-TIME great run with the Bucks(as opposed to the rest of you Bucks fans I'm sure...)so I know it's a long shot, but I hope this draft is more than just a couple Sterling Brown types.
  21. Sure, but if they're at the stage where they're trading players to recoup picks, that means they're likely a bad team and the players they'd be trading would likely be Holliday(assuming he extends), Middleton, and Bogdanovic. Right, that's why it's a win/win. If they continue to be a title contender, 29th or 30th pick is't really worth much- even as trade bait. If they're bad, it's only because Giannis demands a trade at some point. Then you blow it all up anyhow. Trade away Giannis, Kris....everybody and you get 1st round picks back and a ton of cap room. Yeah, I get that...and I'm not trying to be negative...this was an objectively good day for the Bucks and their fans. BUT...if you get to that point, you can "blow it up," and then you will be terrible, but you won't own your own picks....so...you'd be missing the main component of rebuilding. And I was thinking more if Giannis doesn't re-sign. So then you've got this team minus the Greak Freak and your picks. So I think it's either win BIG or lose BIG. But it's more than worth the risk. My old man still talks about the Bucks Championship and the 70's Marquette teams. So if they win the title this year and then Giannis leaves, this decade is still a huge win.
  22. I'm sure that's what the Bucks are going to do. Try to find guys who can fill certain roles and who are undervalued. Still...just because I already mentioned him and because this scouting report uses Jrue Holliday as a comp, I've gotta post it. https://www.nbadraft.net/players/karim-mane/
  23. I think they can appeal and get some cap relief with regard to Leuer since his injuries forced him to retire.
  24. Sure, but if they're at the stage where they're trading players to recoup picks, that means they're likely a bad team and the players they'd be trading would likely be Holliday(assuming he extends), Middleton, and Bogdanovic. The Bucks decided that this was their best chance to keep Giannis and contend for Titles the next 4-5 years. And if things work out badly, they obviously know they could be headed into a 10-year window where they're just awful. So I give the owners a ton of credit for green lighting this trade with all that on the line. It'd be easy to play it safe, maybe just make the Bogdonovic trade and hope that's enough and if it's not, then you can look to rebuild and remain a competitive team. I don't think anyone's actually upset with the loss of the picks...just kinda looking at what it'll mean for the team down the road.
  25. Do you think we've got a shot at someone more than just serviceable with the MLE? Again, Serge was being talked about as a potential target for the Bucks. He's near the end of his career. Do you think they'll try to add one more significant contributor or kinda piece the rest of the roster together with minimum salary guys?
