  1. The organization seem's to have established this unwritten rule of moving older guys along quicker, even if their play is not on par with younger competition. So, why stop now with Hunter?
  2. Wow, Morris steps up when Lawrie declines invite to fall league, does well, really does well in ST and this is how the club treats him? No wonder this club has issues. Q: What kind of message does this send to the player. A: A bad one !!!!!!
  3. Also goes without saying that if an article has already gone to print and named the releases, the dicision must have already been made on assignments. Come on people, someone has to know something !!
  4. Also, the players that have been invited to the Rising stars game, need to fly Fri. (04-01-11) to Miller park, play Sat. and fly out to assignments on Sun.
  5. Well, unless I got bad info., today should be assignment day. Let's just hope the assignments will be performance based, unlike the way they determined which players were taken over for split squads. This is the weirdest ST I have ever seen from the Brewers. Watching the minor leaguers over on the other fields and trying to figure out who would be assigned where was like standing still and watching a merry go round or playing a game of musical chairs. Been doing the ST trip for about 8 years now and like I said, this was by far the strangest.
  6. Lets just hope that they are being careful with Lucroy. The last thing we need now is for them to rush him and have it get worse rather than better. On the other hand, maybe it's a bit worse than anyone knew about?
  7. It's not a matter of disrespect at all. I was merely pointing out that all the players have to overcome some sort of obsticals along the way during their travels towards the big team. I also like to give credit to the guys who do the work during and off season to overcome some of these issues, and still play while taking care of business. Thats all !!!!!!!!
  8. Good luck to Salome, but the difference between having a true physical injury and a lack of intestinal fortitude are two completely different things. I say good luck to the catchers that have stuck with it and showed the willingness to see it through to the end. Thank goodness Salome never tried to make it in the U. S. Military !!!!!!
  9. Didn't see it on the box score, but saw Garfield get his second triple of spring training yesterday. He has been hitting the ball very hard and has also chalked up a homerun and increased his K to walk ratio. seems to be much more patient.
  10. LouisEly, I don't know what you consider inside info. to be, but I just know that if you truly want to find out what's happening with certain player's and are willing to take the time to make the connection's/association's, there's alway's someone who know's what's going on. Many player's treat off season in a less than serious manner. That's why they look slower, sloppier, and generally out of shape when spring training arrives. I know it dosen't seem possible, but mark my words, some players show up that way every spring. If you can make the time, travel to Arizona this spring training and you will definately see what I am referring to. If you can't, I am alway's there and will most certainly pass on the info.
  11. Robert's has not had any of his game truely tested outside of Arizona. The bat sounds great, but sounds like another backstop that has difficulty moving because of his conditioning. I know his defensive skills are light years away from some of the others. I think Roberts will go to Helena. Neda was very late on the scene last year and will be under the microscope more than most this spring training. Neda also has not been tested at any level and we will just have to wait and see with him. Garfields offensive performance was middle of the road, but he truely impressed with his defensive skills and how he handled the pitching staff (which included calling the only no hitter in the entire system last season) as a 19 year old. Garfield will also have a chance to better his CS % in Brevard where the pitchers will be concentrating on holding the runners on better than they did in Wisconsin. Dean played in Helena and did pretty well, I think he will jump to Wisconsin and split time with (total guess because of age/maturity, Neda). I have attempted to stay up to date on the off season workouts of the catchers. While some are doing almost nothing, others have enlisted the help of fitness experts such as Todd Durkin (fitness quest 10) and are really putting an all or nothing effort into the off season preperation. Remember, a full season catcher does not have the same opportunity to work on the offensive side as do the other players. A catcher is with the pitching staff almost 90% of the time. Also, a catchers off season prep. is very important in regards to conditioning and nutritional plans for the up coming season. Remember, nobody, I mean nobody gets worked like the catchers do and the better shape you come into a season the better chance you will have maintaining throughout that season. The key is to do the off season work and then focus on good nutrition during the season to maintain/extend the results you have obtained during the off season.
  12. Once again, unless Garfield has somekind of serious injury coming out of Spring Training, he will be bumped up to Brevard. The club really believes in Garfield and likes the way he conducts himself on and off the field. While Garfield's hitting is a work in progress, he is still very advanced defensively for his age. He will need to prove that he can throw out a greater % of runners, but if you look at the way that Wisconsin handled their pitchers this season, you will see that both catchers had trouble with runners due to the pitching staff concentrating on throwing strikes and not holding runners on well at all. When an organization has a P/C team such as Garfield and Oddorizzi, they will usually move them together, especially after the only no hitter that was called and thrown in the entire system this season. Garfield has already put weight back on and is doing very well in Arizona (Junior Fall League) with Dykstra, Gennett, K.Davis, C. Davis, Dennis, Morris etc... and all the while still catching Odorizzi. Garfield is still only 19 and will continue to grow and put on mature muscle mass as he gets older. It's all about nutrition and being that Garfield just completed his first full season (reaching organizational goal of catching 100 plus games) he now has an idea of true travel on the road and why eating correctly is so important to maintain optimal weight, strength and conditioning. I also imagine that Todd Durkin (Fitness Quest 10) has an awesome plan to build Garfield better for next season.
