  1. Seriously, you can't say double-u Tee Eff? I can't believe that is considered profanity. I just see how effectively TLR has used his staff and how we have used ours and I get a little mad.
  2. It will be his third outing in 5 days. I have been hoping he would start game 6 given StL's difficulties with tricky lefties. Instead he might be good for an inning.
  3. 2. Greinke missed two bats all of last night. One of the more incredible stats I've ever heard.
  4. Yup - after the ball went through his legs he turned around and started back toward the OF grass, running into Molina. I love JHJ but he said something about "nothing you can do" when the ball doesn't bounce true and it torqued me. I coach 8 year olds to stay down on the ball and come up. For the ball to skip under his glove is very much something you can do something about. That he ran into a terrible basrunner and gave him a run as well... The rest of the team must have infected him.
  5. That article about how Greinke is a GREAT pitcher and led the world in xFIP this year and how it made no sense that his results didn't match the stat that usually shows the actual value of a pitcher, well now it all makes sense.
  6. Weeks has had 4 errors in 10 playoff games and that doesn't include the dropped ball last night that led to a run. As bad as the rest of the team has been defensively, they have a combined 5. Its just not ok. A few of them were clearly mental issues too. I don't know why he ruched the throw last night. Pujols was still several steps away.
  7. [expletive deleted] was RR doing pitching Narveson for one hitter? Ugh. It hurts. (edit: language --1992)
  8. I was in a restaurant at the time. They had 4 PJs but I couldn't hear at all. Who did they call interference on? JHJ? Lovely way to compound a terrible play.
  9. On the positive side, last night drove down the cost of tomorrow's tickets. A LOT.
  10. All the games would be mid week. Maybe you guys are talking about decent seats or something. I'm talking about getting into the stadium. I bet I can get in for <$200. Of course, there is some work to be done first.
  11. Yuni actually made a few nice plays before his terrible error. And feel free to pile on Braun too. The ball went through Hairston's legs but Braun could have run the ball in to get Yadi out. Instead he threw the ball 10 feet up the line. I really felt like there were at least 6 errors out there last night and that doesn't include the fly ball Hart didn't get to. Throw in the 1/15 with RISP and 2 outs and you have to wonder if these guys are just gagging. It hurt to watch.
  12. I'm not suggesting they won't sell. I'm saying tickets people were paying $1 for dring the regular season are not going to sell for $400. Not during the week.
  13. Yep. And the best ones are humble enough to realize this, and understand both the ramifications AND limitations of their findings. Others let their ego get the best of them and ignore certain biases and assumptions that have inevitably entered into their research/models. And the most arrogant of us disregard all that information thinking we know better. We call that person Dusty Baker.
  14. That's what all the kids say. Wait 'till you are SconnieMan and then come back to me http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif. I'm all man. I say what I can to talk myself into staying young. We are in a different age. We have infinitely more information at our fingertips now than any generation before us. Suggesting we shouldn't efficiently and effectively utilize this information because we have a hunch, well thats how you end up Ned Yost.
  15. <----- Disappointed. I think I am going to break the piggybank to go to that game and I am not looking forward to watching Marcum.
  16. I don't think those prices will hold in Milw. I am sure people are scalping from all over the country. I just don't see it. By Sun morning tix were available for ~40 for the game last week.
  17. Well thats stupid. I s'pose if they can sell them so be it.
  18. No, you pretty much got it. But technology and math trumps the hell out of tradition. Just look around you. A hunch doesn't buy you what it once did.
  19. Start your #4 on 3 days rest? This is just getting weird. I'm all for giving Narveson a start. I've been advocating that for a while now. But starting two guys on short rest when people were thinking Wolf was as bad as Marcum just 24 hours ago... Well I would hope we can disregard some of these ideas better than RR disregarded starting the alltime slowest CF ever.
  20. You guys need to go see Moneyball. Like now.
  21. Thats a lot. 2 years ago I sat ON the home dugout for the last game of the season (and got $32 tix free for the following year) against the Phillies for $60/. We had a glorious meal at the Metavante Club and with the best seats in the house it cost $125 for the pair. You are telling me SRO WS tix are going to cost me $300/? Ugh. I better find some tix for Sun then... Is all the parking sold out beforehand? If I go Sun and get there as gates open will I be able to get in the Preferred lot? I see passes selling on eBay for silly amounts. I went opening day and it was a tranwreck.
  22. I have tremendous respect for any fan that travels to see their team play. It costs a lot and doesn't happen unless someone is a pretty big fan. I had no probs with them last year when we were in StL for a road trip. But the hypocritical nature with which they view their team is rather amazing. And if you look at how the Brewers have been supported in recent years its remarkable. To have one of the smallest markets and to avg ~3M fans when you have made the playoffs once in 29 years is amazing. Its easy to get fans when you win all the time. Look at all the gear the Yanks sell. But to have a team supported without that kind of history is MORE of a badge of honor to me. If you look at the Regional Sports Network ratings for teams the Phillies were #1 and the Cards were 2, and Brewers were #3 just ahead of the Red Sox. Pretty good for both teams.
  23. This literally makes my head hurt. You want to optimize your chances of winning both games. You are literally causing the chances of winning both to go down SUBSTANTIALLY by limiting the effectiveness of the best pitcher you have going in one of those two days. You just don't use pitchers on short rest. The data on this is not debatable. What you are talking about lowers the EV of winning both by at least 10%. The sole purpose of doing so would be to have an extra game.
