  1. I'm not particularily worried about Weeks, either. His numbers aren't great, but they are not terrible, either. Remember, this is his first full season of professional ball and he is in a pitchers league. As an aside, one of the things that makes Fielders start so impressive is doing this in a pitchers league. Does anyone want to guess what sort of numbers he'd be putting up in the Cal Leauge about now?
  2. Kat; I'll call you Cobra Commander if you switch your little picture thingie to a pic of the blue man himself.
  3. NO ONE had mentioned Kinney in this thread. Right you are Kenny... or is that Kinney?
  4. I don't suppose we call all agree that Milwaukee would be a WS contender with 5 Doug Davis' in the rotation and just let this thread die a natural death?
  5. I don't consider a guy with a 5.14 ERA someone who "usually pitches out of his jams". If a guy pitches five innings, and allows two baserunners and inning, and allows runners to score in only two innings, having given up five runs, he's gotten out of the majority of those jams. So what if his ERA is 9 for that game, he's battled and his name isn't Kinney. You just don't understand the power of such logic, and it dooms you to a lifetime of answering such posts. God speed, man. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Or maybe I've spent too many years reading clancy's post and they don't faze me anymore?
  6. They sure did battle the whole series, tho. I'm as proud of the guys as Yost must be.
  7. Am I the only one who thought Modesi was safe? I know the throw beat him to the plate, but the tag was high. I don't think it was even close.
  8. Best worst heckler in the Midwest League Just because you made them cry doesn't make you a good heckler. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. I've got a good feeling about Kinney tonight: 1/3 inning pitched 0 h 0 er 0 r 1 k 0 bb On fourth pitch, tho, he strains his groin and is put on the 60 day DL.
  10. Hi guys!! Jeanette here! We purchased the tickets for the Beloit game, but have to wait to see about the Milwaukee game. As of right now, I would have to say we wouldn't make it to Milwaukee but who knows what tomorrow brings! Have a wonderful night!
  11. There is a link for that already, provided by EZBoard. Its right on the first page of the forum: EZBoard Help
  12. I'd prefer the Portal and Downloadable Media Guide. Since you have to wait on the portal and the season is almost over, I've got no problem waiting a few months for them. Like I can make you get them done sooner anyways.
  13. Hey, I'm in Nashville for work. It's only 100 miles or so to Hunstville. I just may make the drive tonight. Any idea on whether or not these games sell out? According to what I heard when I was there, it doesn't sound like they will sell out. Its probably a good idea to call ahead, tho, just to be safe. That's a long drive to be turned away.
  14. I think Huntsville would have needed permission from Birmingham to have him added to their roster, since he would have been demoted rather than promoted.
  15. I think the only reason that Eveland is closing is to keep down the number of innings he's pitched this year. Every indiciation is he's going to be in Beloits rotation next season.
  16. But who/what determines the Brewers need to send a catcher and team X sends a shortstop, etc? Is it on some sort of rotating basis? Do the teams "bid" for the positions? That's a good question. I wonder if any of the insiders could provide us with the answer.
  17. If someone could please clarify the AFL selection process, MAYBE I could understand the Johnson pick. However, if catcher was our "slot", I would have rather given it to Vandy. As a college graduate, he isn't that much younger than Johnson. Absent of such process, I totally agree about resting Krynzel and playing Weeks. I know this thread is a little old, but I thought I'd chime in since it doesn't appear anyone answered. To be eligiable to play in the AFL, a player must have been in AA before a certain date- I wanna say July 31, but I'm not sure. Each team gets one exception to that eligability rule. So, if Milwaukee was indeed slotted a catcher, and they chose to send Vandy, they would not be able to send Weeks (or anyone else from Beloit/HD) to the AFL, as he would have used the "under AA" exception. Under such circumstances, it makes a lot more sense to send Johnson.
  18. Courtesy Mike2k33 in the chatroom, Beloit wins 4-2. Dennis Sarfate goes 6 innings, allowing 2 hits while striking out 10. Rickie Weeks goes 1-4 with a double, sac fly and K.
  19. Since Week's made his debut Sunday, I thought I'd re-post this in the Link Report, so we can look back in 20 years and see where it all started. From BA Daily Dish Brewers 2003 first-rounder Rickie Weeks went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a stolen base and in his pro debut in the Rookie-level Arizona League last night. Weeks reported in good shape and is headed to low Class A Beloit tomorrow. In the game against the AZL Rangers, Weeks' first two at-bats, both strikeouts, were against the Rangers' first draft choice John Danks. Weeks was unaware until a postgame interview that the first pitcher he faced was a fellow first-rounder. He was impressed with Danks, saying, "He threw me some good pitches and I struck out." Thanks to maisel4me, who posted this information in another thread.
  20. That's the point....those organizations seem to be in limbo constantly and they are doing all right and kick the crap out of our local heroes constantly. It's an embarrassment. I'm embarrassed when this lose to teams like the Mets and the Padres and the Pirates, teams that are not too good. It doesn't bother me nearly as much when they are beaten by teams with superior talent, regardless of where they play their games. The way this team has been managed the last 15 years, they couldn't win playing in NY with the Yankee's money. That's why I couldn't care less about market size.
  21. Anyway, I have said this before . . it really stinks that we lose to teams like Florida and Montreal who play in horrific ballparks and have awful attendance. It's embarrassing. Of course, it doesn't matter that those teams are 11 games over .500...
  22. "It's like the 15-year-old kid that goes to the bus stop and gets his butt whipped by an 18-year-old every day. Yeah, it's hard to keep getting up and going back to that bus stop every day. But every once in a while, you beat the crap out of the 18-year-old. Every day can be the day. That's the beauty of this game." Thanks for posting that, Geno. I read that Monday or Tuesday, and thought it was one of the funniest things I read. That's battling in the truest sense of the word.
  23. Did Eddie Perez just get an INFIELD hit? Yeah, which means it would have been an infield triple for anyone else on the roster.
  24. Crew, Patrick has the Brewerfan.com shirts, w/ .net patches. I've purchased all my shirts thru him, including the one that I gave to Ulice. In the Weeks photo, from L-R, we have: Bill Batterman (batman), Brian Kapellusch (squarepusher), Rickie, Chris Hawkinson (me) and Patrick Ebert (colbyjack).
  25. I'll add to what Patrick said about Rickie. Physically, he's a lot bigger than I thought he'd be. I think he's going to hit for more power than I thought he would. Its pretty easy to see where all those tool come from. Its real hard to say you know someone from meeting them once, but he made a great first impression. He was humble, and very appreciative of the well wishes, well spoken, and very excited. For him to take some time to speak with us, with all the things going on yesterday, is one of my all-time great baseball moments. I can't wait to see him in action in Beloit.
