  1. I can just feel Braun ready to just go on a tear. Seems like he's right on the cusp of a great run....
  2. Yeah, the "value" always cited for Suppan is "innings eater", which is extremely important when you're talking about a .500 pitcher with 4.25+ ERA. So when even he only goes 5 innings, it just puts even more pressure on the entire staff.
  3. Ok, already - enough complaining about the schedule! We're 8-7 at home. So, if we had more games at home, we'd be 12-11. It just sounds like whining. So someone shut these guys up!
  4. Yeah, not a great strategy, but at least they got away with it.
  5. Great, three walks, including the pitcher. Hope it doesn't come back to haunt........
  6. Isn't Luis Pena the nearest thing we have to a prospective closer in the minors? I don't know enough about him, but I'm sure someone out here does. Is he a possible closer candidate? This year? 2009? Ever?
  7. No, and my explanation would have been almost identical to Ender's.
  8. Ok, I think we've reached a point where we simply need to decide whether the young players we have are over-valued or if it's the manager. I'm not a big "dump Yost" guy, but it's the only logical move. If Prince, Corey, Rickie, Billy, JJ, Ryan, etc are over-valued, the only variable is the manager. SO, I think DM is going to be forced to switch skippers just to see whether or not we really have the young talent he believes he has or not. If a new manager comes in with the same results, we're in big trouble long-term (regardless of manager). But that's really the only variable that can be swapped out at this point (i.e. you can't quickly trade away a few young players or bench them - these are the guys we've brought to the dance, so the manager is really the only thing to change - fortunately, or unfortunately).
  9. Actually, I think those are the little cards the mexican guys try to hand you along the Vegas strip. Just taking a "peek" in between pitches to know what they'll be seeing in the team's hotel lobby after the game....
  10. I think it's fair to say TODAY that it's completely wide open. Are we looking at a number of young players who we have over-valued? We could be looking at a complete meltdown where we lose 100 games again in two years because we have a team full of AAA players! Of course, they may all heat up and live up to their potential and we have a world series contender in 2010. The way they're playing right now is reason to postpone any talk of 2010. It's a complete crapshoot.
  11. I always wished that he had a real shot at regular playing time to see what he could do. I really believe he has the ability to be more than a 4th/5th outfielder, but hasn't been in a situation to take advantage of the opportunity. More than anything, I'd like to see him get real playing time if for no other reason than to see if I was right or wrong. And I guess if I am wrong, better that he gets that opportunity with TB than us! But I think I'm right - I just have a sense that he could be a solid starting centerfielder.
  12. And Bill, in his infinite wisdom, just said "Heilman will be in there for a couple of innings at least". Well, unless the Mets tie it up, he only has 1 2/3 left!
  13. That's one of the reasons I could never live out west. My favorite teams would always be a two hour time difference. I can't watch the Brewers at 10 AM, it's just not right. Yeah, it would not be great getting back home from the bar at 1pm!! Although today it would at least be 2pm. Although it would just mean more time for a nap!
  14. Oh my, what a play! It really looked like Hardy was a bit quick there too, didn't it? Although the replay showed him much closer that I initially thought. Way to get out of that inning! But why do I fear that we're going to need more than 9 runs to win this one today....
  15. I thought Ned had a plethora of options this year in the bullpen and that Brian's House was just a "lefty specialist"....
  16. Did this game really begin at noon?
  17. Didn't a wise man once say ..... lead-off walks kill?
  18. Understatement of the day. If he and Prince come around, the Crew will be scoring 20 runs a game! Ok, slight exaggeration....
  19. He's moving toward being deserving of significant playing time even after Cameron returns.
  20. That middle of the order sure is going down meekly these days.... except for a couple of Hall bombs. Although the "glass is half full" view is that we're 7-4 WITHOUT Braun and Fielder producing like they're capable of!! It could be great if they come around...
  21. Because that's all they score then? There must be a stat related to this.... go find it, Stat-heads!!
  22. Surprised FSN hasn't just given up on the Bucks. Why even bother telling us that the game is on?! Sorry, now back to the Brewers.
  23. This is the true 4.50 ERA Suppan for whom we paid $10M per.
