  1. So what are the odds that CC is on a plane headed to Milwaukee? Slim to none, I guess. Another day has almost come and gone without the deal being done..... and the Cubs are beating the Cards 2-0. I was hoping the Cards could take 2 of 3, but I guess this may at least get the Cards out of the way once and for all. I just can't wait to see the Cubs and Cardinals fans' reactions after we have CC in the rotation!
  2. 1. Parra and Gamel 2. LaPorta, Gamel, Escobar (or Connor Gillespie, a good hitting OFer) and Jeffress (an all-prospect trade that probably won't help us much in 2009) 3. Braun and Gamel 4. Yovani Gallardo and Gamel or LaPorta (although I would obviously prefer Gamel) Those are from a Cleveland fan website. And the author indicated that he'd "settle" for #3. How nice of him, huh? These are all ludicrous.
  3. Hardy to LAD for Broxton (before they can include him in the deal for CC). Edit: Took out long nested quote. As noted above a few times, do not quote the whole previous post, replete with previous quotes, if you do not absolutely need to. Thank you.
  4. There's no real way LAD can top our offer without sending someone like Broxton, who imo would be both dumb for LA to include & the Indians would have little use for him Although Cleveland does need a closer. If the Dodgers do add Broxton to the deal, Cleveland has to take it and we'd need to tip our cap to Shapiro for pulling it off.
  5. The Cleveland message board is pretty funny. "LaRoche" is better than LaPorta". Someone suggests they'd only take "LaPorta/Gamel/Parra" for Sabathia. And they believe Shapiro should take his time as he's in the driver's seat - that more teams will get involved in the coming weeks. I hope DM does drop the offer each time we miss a start by CC.
  6. If they want Rogers, let's do it! Just shows how they're not doing their homework and just tossing names around. Do they have a BA handbook from 2006 (#2 prospect for the Crew that year!)
  7. I concur. Whatever happened to the Vicente Padilla rumors? Granted, that doesn't have the same ring as "CC"!!
  8. Like Doug "Bob" Melvin said, it's in Cleveland's hands now. It just seems that LaPorta's as good as gone and most here have made their peace with that! That's my problem - I've made peace with it in the last 24 hours, but now it probably won't happen...... come on Shapiro - make up your mind already! I want to see CC introduced during tonight's game....kind of like when Sheets got back from the Olympics......
  9. Its not Broxton being talked about being traded for Wilson. It is Broxton being traded for Sabathia. Then who are they offering for Wilson??
  10. Maybe I'm not as crazy as I thought. If they're talking Broxton for Wilson (and maybe parts one way or the other), we should be right in there with Hardy for Broxton (and parts one way or the other)!!
  11. Or we should start throwing around really crazy stuff! Seriously, I think it's a testament to the guys who run/monitor this site and most of the posters that it's obviously viewed as a legitimate fan site (compared to many other fan sites that just toss around a bunch of garbage and are irrational about other teams' players/goals/needs/etc.). Everyone should be proud that BF.net is a credible, respected site.
  12. As much as I hate losing LaPorta, I guess I'm firmly on the "let's get this done" bandwagon at this point. But as another poster pointed out, I may easily fall off that wagon if it doesn't happen soon. I would think Cleveland should be just as nervous about taking too much time and DM having more time to think about it and pull the offer. Either get it done now or it just may not. Do you think DM really rolls the dice and does: 1. Maddux for TGJ 2. CC for LaPorta/Green/Cain 3. Hardy + for Broxton Number 3 is just a figment of my imagination, but....would fill the 8th inning/future closer hole. At least Stricker is making a run at the AT&T so I have something new to watch while waiting for this deal to get done!
  13. I agree that this is the reason the casual fan of other teams are undervaluing our farm system. But if they had read closer, I believe BA acknowledged that the main reason for the lower rating is that we have Braun, Parra, Fielder, Weeks, Hardy, Hart, Gallardo in the majors and the the other highly rated prospects are lower-level at this point. If that AA team is kept intact, I guarantee (ok, I guess I can't do that) we'll be ranking top 5 before 2009. But you are correct in pointing out that the "general fan" out there just sees "21st ranked" and assumes our system is weak.
  14. Ok, I need a break. Going to take a nap - when I come back, the deal should be done......right?
  15. No worries. CC will be on the mound for the Brewers Monday at Miller Park.
  16. Hardy for Billingsley is asking too much, isn't it? We'd need to do Hardy + something for Billingsley?? Or....how about Hardy for Broxton + something??? There's our 8th inning guy for this year and closer for the next few years.
  17. I was just thinking, if the Dodgers are really offering Kershaw (which I highly doubt), maybe the Brewers should flip positions and try to ship Sheets to the Dodgers!
  18. Knowing the Cubs arrogance the centerpiece is probably Felix Pie. I agree. How long have we heard "top prospect Felix Pie"?! And the fact that the Cubs are "entitled to a world series"... they have to win the sweepstakes!
  19. OK, this deal better happen before we get to page 50.... plus, I'm blowing my whole Saturday just watching this thread and Sportscenter. ....well, I guess that's not too bad.... but it has to happen before I head to Summerfest later!
  20. This is great - was this on Comedy Central or something? He's "settle" for Braun and Gamel? How big of him. And it would be nice if he'd at least get the GM's name right - its' DOUG, not Bob, you moron!
  21. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Yeah what would Jack Z and the top 2 scouts bring in a trade? Sabathia, Harden, and Maddux? This is probably for a Jack Z thread, but here's my thought. Mark A probably needs a Team President (rather than management by committee), so he promotes DM to that position. And Jack Z gets his shot at a GM job - but here rather than somewhere else! I really fear losing him. DM is an organizational kind of guy who would probably work in the Team President role and Jack Z is the reason we're in the position we're in today. Keep 'em both!
  22. Amen, brother. I like LaPorta and his potential and would hate to lose him, but a prospect is a prospect is a prospect....
  23. Maybe DM is just playing with us. Holding off to see whether BF.net implodes before he makes this deal..... we could only be so self-centered..... Although someone brought up "increased ticket sales" as another reason to do this deal. I think that's a very good point. I have 1/2 of a season ticket plan with tickets to tomorrow's and Monday's games. And I'm now thinking of walking up to tonight's game because of the "buzz"! If they get CC, it's possible they could come close to selling out the remaining games (not absolutely, but we're talking big crowds the rest of the way)!
