Some Giants blog (Giants Cove) is reporting Durham, Taschner and PTBNL for Salome, Nelson and Ford. But the blogger is hoping it will rather be Weeks, Gamel and Escobar coming back to the Giants. LOL But he admints that "Gamel and Escobar are two of the top prospects in Milwaukee's system (which tells me they probably won't be coming to San Francisco for the likes of Durham and Taschner)" Do ya think? Maybe if the included Lincecum..... After reading that blog, I thought I was on a Cubs fan site!

Chances of trading Jeff Suppan this offseason?

Well, even by putting Suppan in there instead of McClung, Bush or Villy, it still doesn't inspire much confidence!! I think we're looking at a big letdown next year, so we better win it all in 2008! -
edit: The highest OBP on the Brewers right now, is Prince Fielder, at .360. Durham is at .385 this season, and .352 over his long career - he fills a need for sure. Are you serious? I guess I hadn't noticed that. Everyone has been focused on fixing the bullpen for the 2nd half. I think at least a little attention needs to be placed on this terrible OBP stat! I'm surprised I hadn't notied that .360 was THE HIGHEST on the team. Wow. That certainly makes me more in favor of trading for Durham than I was when I went to bed early this morning. (And I do like a middle infield of Escobar/Hardy for the next 10 years....)

Peavy, I think you're right. We should hold off before believing anything coming out of Cleveland sportstalk radio. They will have Braun back in the deal before long if we let them!

If that's the case, hopefully DM has moved on to other options. No way I'd go to LaPorta/Escobar/Green. That's just silly talk.

If not Bedard is probably a lot cheaper. Bedard is more realistic as a Plan B than Cain or Lincecum. Have also heard Vicente Padilla, AJ Burnett, Randy Wolf, Greg Maddux. We could probably do Maddux for Gwynn almost straight-up and still go get one of these others.

I guess with 1.75 liters of Brandy, we'll need to wait a bit longer than 7am for any update from Crew, huh? If it was only 1 liter, he may already be up and changing his mind.... Anyhow, I'm still on board with the deal, but becoming more impatient. I really want to see him pitch for the Crew Monday night...

But Burnett for Hall? I'd take that chance since Hall thinks he has a ton of trade value while hitting .207.....

Yeah, I don't like the feel of this as it drags out longer and longer. Let's grab Maddux for TGJ and take our chances. Re-sign Sheets. Get Gallardo back in 09. Trade Fielder for ? We'll be just fine if we don't land CC - especially for some absurd package of players.

If Shapiro gets LaPorta and Gamel, they should give him the Executive of the Century award and DM should be burned in effigy.

Yep, based on TH's latest, I say let it go. There's NO WAY you include LaPorta AND Gamel or Escobar. That's just crazy talk and DM needs to be (and I believe is) smarter than that. Let them trade him to Philly for a bunch of A prospects. Shapiro can explain that to his boss and the Cleveland fans how he passed on LaPorta for a bunch of guys who never made it to the majors. Screw them.

I disagree. He'd pitch Monday for McClung. Bush wouldn't leave the rotation unless we also get Maddux in a separate deal.

Then why the heck doesn't Melvin trade Hardy, far superior to Wilson to the Dodgers for Broxton, See above...my thoughts exactly. Which means there has to be something else strange going on - or the Jack Wilson rumors are just wrong.

Ok, Summerfest plans fell through (really wanted to see Cheap Trick, though) and I already have tickets to tomorrow's and Monday's games. So I guess I'll just need to head to the bar to watch the game. AND to get away from this thread for a little while (which I'm sure everyone will be ok with!). It has to happen this evening, doesn't it? Announce it during the game??

Maybe I'm delusional! I agree that the longer it drags out, the less likely it will happen. It sure seems like they had a deal in principle a day and a half ago, but now are shopping the deal around. I would expect DM to do the same thing if the roles were reversed, but it just makes me nervous being on this side this time. I just hope when he's ready to trade Prince that he shops til he drops!

Brewcrewin07: I do agree with you. I was making fun of a few posters over on the Clev fan site, but for the most part the posters seemed pretty civil (and even a couple were complimentary of Milwaukee and the Brewers and were wishing us luck).
