  1. I probably said that wrong --- she just said she never thought she'd move back to Wisconsin.
  2. I think part of the attendance surge has to be a sort of "honeymoon period" where the Brewers are suddenly really actually competitive and fun to watch. If they keep winning next year and after, a number of people will probably become more comfortable with watching the games on TV instead.
  3. I remember in the beginning of the year she didn't seem too happy to be back in Wisconsin, saying she never thought she'd ever come back. Is this just a very temporary thing? Apart from being a cute face on the TV, she's does a really great job. She's' added a lot to the broadcasts and it would definitey be disappointed to see her go.
  4. Unfortunately, he is going to be *THE* premier free agent in about 2-3 months, and although I think Mark will make a very good offer, he'll probably dash off to Cali. We need a good late-September beg/chant...
  5. Fielder is definitely above Braun. Braun is "cooler," but Fielder has more personality. Braun just acts like your average frat guy.
  6. Naming Wisconsin's biggest sports celeb is difficult because Wisconsin suffers from the fact it is a medium-sized but majorly spread out state. There are quite a few sizable places that probably shouldn't exist (Eau Claire, La Crosse, Wausau, etc), not to mention thousands of tiny towns in the middle of nowhere. These places don't associate themsleves with "Milwaukee," and The Twin Cities' market pull can be pretty strong and tempting for a lot of them. Even in the Fox Cities (where I'm from), I still definitely detect a significant lack of Milwaukee enthusiasm. It's disappointing, but no matter how good or big the Brewers get, they'll always play third fiddle to the Packers and the Badgers; You'lll never see a Brewer telling you to turn your cell phone off before movie. With that said, no matter where he is, Brett Favre is top dog here in Wisconsin. It's actually pretty (extremely) creepy.
  7. So long as we can take the series that we should, I think we are fairly reliably in line for the Wild Card. The Mets are falling back to Earth and do not appear to have the steam to make a run for it. The Marlins and Phillies are good, but I just don't see the wild card coming from there. The Phillies have spotty pitching, a recently unreliable bullpen, and major consistency issues with their hitting. The Cards have a tough stretch of games coming up - 3 @ Chicago, then 4 @ Florida. We have the Nationals and Padres. If we lived in Shouldland, we'd be 3 or 4 games up at the end of next week. I just don't see how they can win the wild card with their bullpen. If we do not win the wild card, however, they will be the team that does. I suppose just to ice the proverbial Brewers cake, we'll have to take one of the games in the last series against the Cubs, but again be swept and hand over the Wild Card to the summarily-swept Cardinals.
  8. Has anyone seen this kid play or perhaps know why he's not in AAA yet? From what I've read, his lack of power is a serious problem in regards to projecting his success in the majors. If I remember correctly, he only has 3 or 4 doubles despite being the fastest guy on his team. I'm not sure where he projects since JJ seems to really like his spot at short and probably wouldn't take too lightly to a relegation to a position like 2B.
