  1. 3-4-5 up for the crew. This is the inning to take the lead and turn it over to Turnbow.
  2. Raise your hand if you would let Doug go out there in teh 7th. I wouldn't.
  3. Nice win. Cappy gets 17 and the crew gets back to .500. I wonder where this team would be if Sheets had pitched the whole year?
  4. Alcides is an 18 year old who held his own in A ball this year. Hernan is a 21 year old who had a decent year in A ball. Of course Alcides is far from MLB ready but even a year at A+, then a year at AA, and a year at AAA puts him in the majors at 22. Even if he needs a repeat year along the way he makes the majors at 23 the same age as JJ. I do not understand why nobody here is even the slightest bit excited about him. I think that with four years of growth he coud put up compareable numbers to .237/.324/.372(J.J. this year). Sure he could flame out but this guy has a super high ceiling. He is a long way off but he is someone to watch IMO.
  5. Great work Russ. I only wonder what you could do with a real statistics package instead of Excel
  6. This is a very painful game to follow. Yes I am happy that Prince got to hit. Yes Yost has made some good moves this game(some that haven't worked out). Yes Yost has made some bad moves this game(some that did work out). Hopefully we can at least tie it back up in the bottom half.
  7. I posted before the double but the fact that he doubled doesn't really matter. If you make a stupid move as a manager and somehow your team still wins you aren't a good manager. Prince can be used later but in that situation you had the righty/lefty matchup and a pitcher who throws a lot of heat just like Prince likes.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  8. Just to show I don't hate all of Yost's move. I like Turnbow in the 9th here.
  9. If Prince isn't going to be used against a right hander who mainly throws a fastball then when should he be used? Plenty of innings left to use helms later. Prince should not be on the roster if they aren't going to at least use him to PH.
  10. Does Yost hate prince? Is there any good reason Helms should be batting here? edit: just because it worked doesn't make me think it was a good move.
  11. If D.D. comes up to bat with a RISP I'm having Prince bat. Just so when Yost leaves Davis in and I complain it won't be second guesing.
  12. 55 pitches for Valdez in just 3 IP though. It looks like we will have at least a couple of innings of middle relief to score some runs on. In other pitch count news Livan Hernandez 105 in 6 innings for the Nats. Maybe he goes 150 today.
  13. I thought they were trying to limit Eveland's innings? Wouldn't Ty be a better choice?
  14. Sounds lose 9-4. Prince goes 2 for 4 with a double and another home run. Yawn.
  15. If strain is being used in terms of liagments then yes it's a tear but not a complete tear. This is often the case with knees ligaments like ACL. Unfortuneately, the word has morphed into meaning a mild injury to other body parts. If Sarfate has a true strain of a ligament(Ulnar most likely) I doubt the crew would be talking about him returning this year. I think some pitchers have now opted for tommy john to fix just strained ligaments if that liagment has been a problem area.
  16. It's nice to see three brewers on the list and two in the top ten. I still think they have underated Prince. Hermida(also 21 years old) at #5 is hitting .299 BA/.463 OBP/.520 SLG at AA compared to Prince's .286/.382/.549 at AAA. Sure Hermida play in the OF but Prince has better number in previous years. It's close. In any case what is is James Loney doing on the list?
  17. Why do we have to be so dumb. This was absolutely the WORST choice Ned could have made. At least Rickie is leading off the next inning but if we don't score there I don't like our chances in the 9th.
  18. Absolutely NOT ok because Magruder is next! If Brady is still in there maybe but not here.
  19. 16 pitches for ben in the first 2 innings. He is going the distance again.
  20. With little bullpen use yesterday and an off day coming up I'd wouldn't hesitate to pull Santos early especially for a pinch hitter if the situation comes up. Slightly off top but I don't believe in the astros. I know they have three great pitchers but the other two starters are questionable and their offense is horrible. Ensberg is having a career year but besides Berkman they are really weak. I like how we match up with them.
  21. In a game like this why bunt at all? 5th inning of a 6-6 game? Sounds like you might need more than one run to me. I'd have pinch hit and let him swing.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  22. While I don't think this is the biggest game all season so far it certainly would look nice to win game one and then have our three best pitchers going in the last three games of the series. This may be forward thinking again but with the off day monday the crew will get a chance to skip someone in the rotation. With a decent start by Okha yesterday today's start by Santos might go a long way in determining who does get skipped. Lastly, it looks like the Giants used their bullpen frequently in their series against the cubs. If we could rough up Hennessey early today that would put us in a very good position in the series.
  23. Who would have thought we would win a game against the cards when we had 4 errors, hit into 4 double plays, and had Pujols go 3 for 4?
  24. It looks like another 5 and dive for Cappy. "Only" two walks though today so I guess that isn't too bad. edit: maybe not.
