    What do you mean "lit up?" As in booed? He is going to get booed everywhere. He would have got booed regardless of the off-season allegations, in LA, because Kemp probably should have gotten the MVP last year. I think everyone would have expected that going in. But isn't LA a place to be seen? Do they really have fans there? I fell asleep in the 6th. Friggin West Coast trips get me every time. I think the Crew needs a series against a weaker opponent to get back into the swing of things. Pitching against them has been tough to date. Perhaps this series gets Braun back on a roll.

    I hope the Nats keep winning. Will be nice to see someone else dominate, and dominate through the draft and development aspect of baseball. Of course, with that many early first picks over the years, the chances were some of these guys would pan out someday. Just think if they would have signed Fielder in the offseason......

    Which makes it so disappointing that Braddock did whatever he did to fall out of the organizational love. But honestly, a right hander with great off-speed stuff can be just as effective as a loogy. With Parra, his struggles were all mental. He obviously has great natural stuff, when he is on. But the fact is, is that he has never been on consistently enough to be productive. The Brewers won't part ways with him because they are afraid that he will actually live up to the potential with another team, when he could have done it with the Crew. I have heard people reference De La Rosa. But let's be honest, who on here was a fan of Jorge? I for one think that the organization needs to start looking at quality RIGHT NOW rather than putting up with an average reliever. In a season when you could lose 60% of your starting rotation, you need to win when you can. Bring up guys that will help you win now. Don't wait for talent to pan out on the MLB roster. Just my opinion though.

    At some point you have to play Corey at first to see how he handles it. Why not against the 'Stros? Get his feet wet and see how he does. And Aoki, with his approach at the plate, would be just fine against lefties.

    I have had the surgery 3 times. Not good for Chris. Will be interesting to see if Estrada is given the shot all year, and if he begins to falter, who from AAA or AA they give a shot first. Assuming Wily if he uses his changeup, but could be very interesting. Sad day for Chris. I am sure he will work hard to come back strong next year.

    On Posey - More him talking through his agent asking for the rules being changed so that collisions don't happen at the plate...basically. Sounded like crying to the media more than anything. There were a ton of collisions at the plate last year and throughout time. Heck, I have a huge signed and framed picture of Fielder basically knocking Greene unconscious at the plate, here in my office. What it boiled down to was that Posey had bad form, combined with a hard hit bending his leg back. It was very unfortunate, but it is part of the game and the hazards of a close play at the plate.

    That's what I saw here as well. Bottom line, it was a great baseball play by both guys. I give Castro a lot of credit for staying in the game, the guy seems Mike Matheny tough. He didn't go whining to the media through his agent either, like a certain catcher in the Bay Area either- not that anyone would care, because he's not a 'star'. That's pretty much the same words that the MLB Radio guys said last night on the drive home. I too agree that he wasn't staring him down. They both were a little shook up after the hit. It was pretty solid. I would have had him tagging too. Lee is not exactly known for his arm and it took a great play to get Gamel out. I haven't heard anything on any sports media stations both last night and today about anything malicious on the play. Only thing I have heard are the random jabs at Posey.

    Mat's wife said he went in for x-rays last night as they feared he had a separated shoulder. Xrays were negative. I was right behind home plate last night and he didn't seem to favor it at all. Looks like he felt the impact. Guys on MLB Radio on the drive home said how it was a baseball play and not dirty at all. I didn't hear any chatter either from the Stros dugout thinking it was a bad play. He blocked the plate. Where was Mat supposed to go?

    John - I have been a Brewers fan since the 70's and I guess I recall a completely different scenario (perhaps it is selective rememberance on my part) of the way Molitor left town. The Brewers REALLY low-balled him and word on the street is that they wanted to cut ties with him, which I will never understand why. In my recollection he didn't spur the Brewers to sign with the Blue Jays. They actually offered him market value for a contract. Had the Brewers wanted him there, they would have given him a better offer to stay. As for spurring the Brewers again later on by signing with the Twins, how can you fault Paul for wanting to play in the State he grew up in? He retired a Brewer and will always be rememered as a Brewer, not a Blue Jay and not a Twin. Robin, Paul and Jim were the faces of the franchise back then, and he, just like Robin, Hank and Bob, deserves a statue at Miller Park as well. It is long overdue. The guy was a phenomenol baseball player. Just my two cents. Of course, #4 will always be the greatest Brewer to play, in my mind. I think in those days, you were either a Yount guy or a Molitor guy. I sided with #4 (still loved Yount though).

    Heck, at this point, wouldn't you take guys like Gindl/Gennett/Green who actually make contact and put the ball in play? I agree on the pitching prospects and drafting with that mindset. You are going to find more quality pitchers higher up in the draft whereas good hitters can be found throughout. It really depends on what you determine as a good hitting prospect. Are you speaking purely power hitters? Because we don't have a ton of that in the minors. What we do have are guys who consistently put the ball in play and get on base. I would take 4 of those before I would take one power hitting threat. It is easier to replace the production, being on base, of Hart and Weeks, than it is to replace a guy like Greinke. Stay the course. You need good pitching to win championships. Greinke will be worth the money and there is no way this fan base would take another rebuilding project. The Brewers have been looking to lock up their young guys. That doesn't sound like a team looking to rebuild or preparing to do that.

    Mat has also hit two very long singles this year off the wall. I think he is an upgrade over Prince defensively, even though he didn't pick that low throw from Alex the other game. He definitely has more mobility and height, both upgrades. Anyone who wants him to put up huge offensive numbers, like he did in the minors (at least this year), is ridiculous. LEt the kid battle all year. He will be more productive than any other option we have there this year (including a combo position move such as Hart platooning and moving an outfielder over). Once the organization shows him some love, as in not pulling him late, then I think you see his confidence grow. Give the kid a chance to prove he can handle it. I like Mat and his chances to succeed this year.

    I think they tabled talks for now because there really is no rush. Plus, wouldn't you think they want to see what the Hamels deal will be? And I think Zack drives the talks, not his agent. Zack has stated time and time again that he likes playing here and he has actually even loosened up with the press, something he never did prior to coming to Milwaukee.

    I agree. Keep the lineup consistent. Mat has hung in there just fine in ST and now in the regular season. Let him prove he can keep doing it by providing him an opportunity. Besides, when the Brewers jump all over Maholm early, and he gets pulled, they probably bring in a right handed reliever anyway. And to those ripping Gomez batting second, give the guy a chance. It is game 5. Nyjer got his first hit last night. No one was calling for him to be out of there after a sample size of 2 games. Gomez has a sample size of one.

    They keep saying that if they sent Parra down to the minors that some other team would claim him because he has "special talent." The same special talent that has yet to blossom in the big leagues. Sure he has potential, but tapping that Parra Potential has been almost impossible. He's got a live arm and throws some great pitches, but is too inconsistent to warrant putting in tight games.

    As soon as Ax gets control of that slider/curveball, he'll be just fine. It would appear that tonight K-Rod could have his first chance at a save for the Crew. I am just a little worried about our middle relief though. 4 games is a small sample, but at the same time, there really hasn't been a bright spot yet.

    They are reporting 25-30mph winds blowing out to RF right now. Marcum being a flyball pitcher, this could be a scary night. Looking forward to seeing Gamel's first bomb though.

    Gomez will bring some excitement to the game today. IF he gets on base, he'll distract Garcia enough to give Ryan some juice right down the middle of the plate to hit out. Have faith in Gomez. Roenicke just doesn't want to deviate too much from the daily lineup. Gonzalez had a great spring as well. I have no problem with the lineup. See how it goes. Have some faith. It's the first game of the year.

    It embraces the latin community in the area. I don't see anything wrong with it. Remember, we used to cheer for a guy dressed up in a costume to go down a slide into a glass of beer. How is that any different? I like the park. It will be interesting to see how the ball flies once the heat and humidity roll in this summer. It appeared the later it got the better the ball carried last night.
