  1. I think you all have changed my mind on Turang. Now I'm all excited about him again!

  3. These two things are not mutually exclusive. Often times, a team's "best hitter" is the one with the best OBP. This isn't "old" thinking, and I think it's perfectly reasonable to want more OBP in the two-hole, just as it may be reasonable to want Adames' SLG deeper in the lineup. I don't particularly care about the Brewer's lineup on a day-to-day basis anyway because the lineup seems to be pretty balanced in terms of quality. Just a lot of average hitters in this lineup. May as well just go L/R/L/R, or consider baserunning ability. I think, in fact, that Adames' baserunning is just as much a factor on his hitting 2nd.
  4. Just to add... other than promoting Chourio, they've also got a lot of roster decisions coming up in the minors as well, what with guys deserving promotion and new draftees just weeks away from beginning their careers.
  5. I can't help but feel that the Brewers are in a weird "holding pattern" until after the trade deadline. There are a lot of roster decisions that just feel like they haven't settled on what they want their stretch-run/playoff roster to look like, and I think that includes potential line-up tweaks. I still think that those Hiura-in-LF games were for the benefit of other teams' scouts. They may end up doing nothing substantial over the deadline, but I think a lot of the awkwardness will settle down after some of these guys get traded, or get healthy (e.g. Topa/Peralta).
  6. Yes. If Turang reaches that stat line that I previously posted as his prospective ceiling, he WOULD be a borderline all-star, and should not be traded for a rental like Bell. But we don't know that he will become that. Like most prospects, he probably will not reach that ceiling. I would guess that over his first 6 years in MLB, his 6 year slash line would MOST LIKELY look more like .240/.330/.380 (with good defense, speed, lefty-stick). Still a legitimate big-leaguer, but pretty replaceable. If they trade THAT player for Bell, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. But as I previously stated, I'm not sure Bell is even worth it. If the team is dead set on "going for it," (whatever that means), then they need to trade like they mean it. They need to trade whomever it takes to get a guy like Soto/Reynolds/[insert superstar here]. That would not be my preference, as I think I'd prefer that they simply sit tight this year (probably an unpopular opinion).

  8. I wouldn't lose sleep over losing Turang, as I agree that his ceiling looks pretty limited. I mean, what is his ceiling? At his peak, he might be a borderline all-star on a bad team? (.290/.370/.430)? It's really hard for me to imagine getting more production than that from him, and he very well could end up being significantly less than that. At the same time, he's a very good defender, fast, and a lefty-stick, so a nice player to have for the next 6 seasons. My problem is that this year's rental market is pretty weak. No one is a sure-fire improvement, and I believe that includes Bell (as Tellez has shown flashes and Bell has shown months-long slumps). I mentioned it in a different thread, but I wonder if a Tellez for Bell swap would make sense for both teams? I dunno, Bell just doesn't inspire me. (Also, I am guilty of really liking Tellez).

  10. Does anyone have any insight as to Wisconsin native, Jack Washburn's draft situation? He had a decent junior season for Ole Miss. Perhaps he's planning to return for his senior year? I don't know how much of a prospect he may be. https://olemisssports.com/sports/baseball/roster/jack-washburn/3797
