  1. Between eight to twelve more players are supposedly going to be suspended tomorrow morning, per ESPN (ya, I know, I know. I shouldn't put much faith into them). But I think this is likely. We've been focusing so much on Ryan Braun's PED issues. Here's a really ugly question. Could there be another Brewer player named tomorrow? I don't want to even think about this, but if one player in our locker room was using, isn't it at least possible that there was another? Thinking about this makes me a little sick to my stomach, but it's something to talk about. Somebody please tell me that I'm grasping at straws.
  2. This development may cause me to cancel Extra Innings next season. I would. I did Extra Innings when they had the preview for a week last season. MLB.tv premium blows it away. Being able go back and watch any Major League game from earlier in the year is greatness.
  3. How many balls have we even hit out of the infield tonight? Two? Three? This is embarrassing. Absolutely embarrassing.
  4. I don't blame you, Baldkin. The Brewers don't look like they care right now. They're going through the motions. One run and nine hits the last two nights. At home. Well, at least I can listen to Bob Uecker now while watching the game on my Roku. They added the audio overlay option sometime while I was in the hospital in July. I'm loving listening to him, even if the game itself sucks.
  5. LOL at Yuni trying for a double. What was he thinking running on Bryce Harper? Rendon was just sitting there whistling waiting for Yuni to get there.
  6. Wow, Yuni with a nice play at first to end the inning. Down 0-2. Let's go, offense!!!!!
  7. Our offense is non-existent right now. Ueck sounds bored.
  8. How many times have you heard it? "Should have been a double play". Instead, it bounces right past Rickie. 4 to 1 now.
  9. Nice job running ourselves out of a possible run. Sigh. And of course Francisco hits a double off the wall in center. The pitch after Gomez gets nailed at third.
  10. I don't get it, turborickey. Why have these guys up if they're not going to be played? We know what Rickie Weeks is going to provide us. We don't know what Scooter Gennett might do because he hasn't had any consistent playing time. Khris Davis has crushed two first pitch home runs, and yet we're not seeing him. I'm surprised Caleb Gindl is getting any playing time at all, and I feel if Braun hadn't been suspended, we wouldn't be seeing him at all. I love listening to Robin. So humble. He will always be the face of our franchise. He could come up to the booth every night, as far as I'm concerned.
  11. Yount and Clemente are my two all-time favorites. God, I would love to meet Robin. Oh, please let Gorzo be ok. That didn't look good. We are absolutely snake bit. If we didn't have bad luck, we'd have no luck at all right now.
  12. Mini Me? Can he play third? He might not have much vertical leap, but the guy would have about a 3 inch strike zone. Eddie Gaedel revisited. He'd be an upgrade over Betancourt. Sign him!
  13. LOL, Starlin Castro just standing there at second as Bianchi makes a break for third. Did anybody see him spitting sunflower seeds? I swear that guy's head is out of the game more than any player I've ever seen. Doesn't matter though, as Weeks comes up and grounds out weakly to end the inning. Thanks, Rickie.
  14. Can the Scrubs get any luckier? Seriously. High chopper Bianchi can't get. Liner off of Peralta. Now Luc boots one. And Wily isn't going after anybody. Now Rizzo with the bases loaded. Peralta at 74 pitches. Bet nobody is up in the pen, either. This game is spiraling out of control.
  15. RIP Boomer. You were indeed the first Brewer great. It is not lost on me how awful our first basemen have been this year. They could all stand to watch some footage of George playing the position.
  16. It's too bad Porter was able to stand up for a week in the fall of 1982.
  17. Thanks, Axford! Thanks for nothing! Trade him. I'd take a box of Oreo cookies for him.
  18. It's up to Rickie Weeks, who's 0-4 with 2 K's today. Can he tie it up?
  19. Axford being Axford. He's great in mop up, when there's no pressure. But when he's called on to keep us in a game, he's just terrible. From a 3-1 lead in the top of the sixth to a 5-6 deficit in the bottom of the eighth. Joy.
  20. I'm trying to decide, is this better or worse than last Sunday's lineup? Sigh.
  21. We all know that last year Jonathan Lucroy was headed to the All Star game had he not seen his season interrupted by the freak accident involving his wife and his suitcase. Well, here we are in the second half of 2013, and Jonathan Lucroy, after a slow start (some have blamed the WBC where he was a backup catcher), is on fire once again. The Brewers sent two representatives to the All Star Game in 2013, shortstop Jean Segura, and center fielder Carlos Gomez. Well, I think it's a safe bet that Jonathan Lucroy warrants some serious consideration for the same honor next year. Let's look at what Jonathan has done over the last 162 games: http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/6034/wapm.png A .302 average. 25 home runs. 102 RBI. An .860 OPS. 284 total bases. Buster Posey won the 2012 National League MVP hitting .336 with 24 home runs and 103 RBI. .960 OPS. 291 total bases. Let's face it, guys, Jonathan Lucroy is one of the best catchers the Milwaukee Brewers have ever had. He's got plenty of seasons ahead of him, and I hope that the media outlets start to realize what we in Milwaukee already know. Luc is a star in the making.
  22. Why would we want to give some of the youngsters who will likely factor into our future some playing time in a lost season when we can continue putting useless guys like Juan Francisco and Yuni Betancourt out there? Metaphorically speaking, we are not only in the caboose, we are standing so far back in the caboose, I couldn't see the locomotive with a pair of binoculars. Since we have zero chance of getting back in it, bring every youngster we can up, and get them extensive playing time. Now. Let Logan Schafer and Khris Davis split time starting in left field. Let Schafer start in center on days where Carlos Gomez needs a day off. Let Sean Halton come back up, and play him every day at first base. See if consistent playing time can get him a groove. Let him show us what he can, or cannot do, at the Major League level. Let Scooter Gennett play at second. Every day. I don't give a rat's you-know-what Rickie Weeks is being paid. Outside of a month this season, he has been useless. He's awful in the field, and completely unproductive at the plate. If Gennett shows he can handle second until a more attractive alternative comes along, great. If he bombs, then we know we need to address the position in the offseason, in this draft. And who knows, maybe Scooter surprises us all. I'd love to see it happened. The kid plays with a chip on his shoulder. He's been told he wasn't good enough his entire career. DFA Yuni Betancourt. He never needs to play in Milwaukee again. Ever. I don't care if every single shortstop on our 40 man roster goes down. I'd rather bring up somebody from AA than see this worthless lump in the Brewer uni again. Send Juan Francisco down. He has great power. That's about it. Get him to work on his defense. Get him to work on pitch recognition. Maybe he can be a bat off the bench in the future. But right now, he's just a warm body. Send a pitcher down. Bring Halton and Gennett back. It is time to look to the future. Period. It's time Ron Roenicke realize that, or it's time to part ways with him.
  23. Tyler Chatwood is 11 for 30 at the plate this year. His .702 OPS is higher than Rickie Weeks (.691), Yuni Betancourt (.584), Logan Schafer (.632), Martin Maldonado (.535), and just under Juan Francisco (.710). That's right. He's outhitting 5 of our 8 position players this evening. But we are improving our draft position for next year! That's a positive!!!!
