  1. A whole 6 RBI in his last 37 games. People are probably just shocked that Rickie did something positive.
  2. It might not say a lot about the individual prospects, but it does say that when we play our young talent against the young talent other teams have put together, we're losing a hell of a lot more than we're winning.
  3. My thoughts on the franchise right now? Milwaukee Brewers. 28-41, last place NL Central. Nashville Sounds (AAA). 24-46, last place Pacific Coast League. Huntsville Stars (AA). 29-39, last place Southern League North (first half). Brevard County Manatees (A+). 36-30, second place Florida State League North. Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (A). 29-36, seventh place (of 8) Midwest League East. Combined record: 146-192. 46 games below .500. Our Major League, AAA and AA teams are all the worst in their respective divisions. Only Burlington's 26-39 record keeps our A class team from being in last place. Our High A team is the only one that is not below .500, and at the bottom of the barrel. My thoughts on the franchise? We do not have the talent to compete at any level. Doug Melvin has stripped this organization of talent from top to bottom.
  4. It was just 6-1 and Matt Dominguez hit a grand slam, a bomb to left center field.
  5. at getting beaten 10-1 by the Astros. All you can do is laugh.
  6. You're right. I'm sure he's not an improvement over a guy that's striking out 40% of the time he comes to the plate.
  7. Juan Francisco at first makes me For the season, Milwaukee Brewer first basemen are hitting for a combined .179 AVG. Their slash line? .219 OBP/.284 SLG/.503 OPS. Sean Halton in his last ten games at AAA Nashville is hitting .514 with 3 HR and 9 RBI. His OPS in that span is 1.481. The man was first baseman for the Sounds before Hunter Morris was brought up from Huntsville.
  8. Oh God, it's even worse than I thought. From baseball reference: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/split.cgi?t=b&team=MIL&year=2013 For the season, Milwaukee Brewer first basemen are hitting for a combined .179 AVG. Their slash line? .219 OBP/.284 SLG/.503 OPS. Halton in his last ten games is hitting .514 with 3 HR and 9 RBI. His OPS in that span is 1.481. And still he sits there in Nashville.
  9. Who cares what his size is? So he doesn't generate quite the power numbers the Brewers are hoping for from first base. Are they getting that now? Brewer first baseman have something like a disgusting .550 OPS this season. Give the kid a chance. He might surprise people, and at the very least, he sure can't be any worse that what we're trotting out there now.
  10. Name this player: A former second baseman for the Milwaukee Brewers (multiple seasons) His average slash line while in Milwaukee: .286 AVG/.349 OBP/.389 SLG/.738 OPS His average per 162 games while a Brewer: 172 hits, 26 doubles, 8 triples, 7 home runs, 51 RBI, 18 stolen bases, 11 caught stealing. 43 walks, 43 strike outs. Would we be happy with this kind of production from Scooter Gennett? I think these numbers are very attainable for Ryan.
  11. He's playing slightly better. 'Rather well' is a really, really big stretch. Yasiel Puig has been playing rather well. Domonic Brown lately has been playing rather well. Rickie Weeks play has been better than he was, which was absolutely awful. He's batting average and OBP are a little higher. That's the extent of his playing better. His average is now above .200. Yay. He's sure not producing any runs. And that's why he's on the team. He's being paid the big bucks to be a run producer, and provide some power. He is doing neither. His last 27 games is being pointed out as an improvement. 4 RBI in 27 games. 27 games is exactly 1/6th of a season. 6 x 4 RBI = 24 RBI in a 162 game season. Not trying to be argumentative here guys, but under what stretch of the imagination is that "playing well"? I'll include this period where he's "played well", and go back even further. Let's take it back to May 1st. In his last 109 at bats, since May 1st, he still has... 4 RBI. Let me just repeat that. Rickie Weeks, the highest paid player on the Brewers, has 4 RBI in his last 36 games. With Corey Hart out for pretty much the entire first half of the season, with Aramis Ramirez coming back from injury, missing a great deal of time at the start of the season, and even more games after returning, and with Ryan Braun missing time because of his thumb...we needed our highest paid player to carry some of the burden. We needed him to produce. He has produced nothing. Juan Francisco, the human strikeout machine, has now seen the field in 10 games since coming to Milwaukee. In 10 games, he has more RBI, 5, than Weeks does in the last 36 games. Logan Schafer, in his last 13 games, has 6 RBI. He has more than Weeks. Scooter Gennett, in the 10 games since he has been called up, has 4 RBI. Martin Maldonado, since May 1st has 4 RBI. Even hitting .130 over that span, and in half the at bats (54 to Weeks' 109), he has 4 RBI. Rickie Weeks has not played well by any stretch of the imagination.
  12. Rickie has driven in 4 runs since May 12th (27 games). I don't care what his OPS is over the last 27 games he's played. He's not producing runs, and that's the name of the game. By the way, two of those 4 RBI came on a 2 run homer against the A's in a game we were losing 8-0. The game was, for all intents and purposes, over. He simply does not produce in the clutch. He's hitting .115 with runners in scoring position for the season (6 hits in 52 at bats). In high leverage situations, he's batting .045 (2 for 44). You can't simply look at an OPS over a period, and say he's doing better. When he's getting his hits, they're not coming with runners on. I want Rickie to do better. I hope he starts driving in runs. But to say he's been more productive is simply inaccurate. By the way, Scooter Gennett in 10 games has 4 RBIs.
  13. The bottom three in our lineup: Francisco .212 AVG Weeks .213 AVG Betancourt .215 AVG then the pitcher Is anybody surprised this offense isn't scoring runs today? I have to agree with the consensus. I see no reason why Francisco was traded for. He provides no boost to this team whatsoever. They won't bring Hunter Morris up even for a try, but they'll keep a "prospect" that has less plate discipline up with the club. As bad defensively as he might be, at least Hunter has played first base. Francisco is just another black hole. I'm just praying that Ryan gets that thumb healthy, and avoids suspension. Please, God. I am a long suffering Brewers fan. For thirty five years, I have followed this team faithfully. They haven't won a darned thing, but still I watch. While other new franchises are farted out of the commissioner's arse, and go on to win World Series titles, I stick to my team. Could you maybe give us a break with Ryan Braun...please? It's bad enough we have to have his possible drug use in our face at every turn, along with the heckles of "the Brewers franchise sucks". Could you maybe just once throw us a bone?
  14. Logan Schafer has been playing really well of late. He's an unsung hero of sorts filling in for Brauny. 6-9 with 2 runs scored, 3 doubles, 2 RBI and his first career stolen base in the two games he played against Cincy. I like it!
  15. Scooter's going to score from second on a single to left field? Scooter's going to score from second on an infield hit?
  16. oops, sorry about that, the proper edit has been made. No problem. I do stuff like that all the time. I am really liking Scooter Gennett. The guy brings some real energy to the game. Things like taking third there won't show in the box score, but they make a big difference in the team's success. Get the man a new belt!
  17. Glenn Braggs was quite an athlete back in the day, but he never quite figured out how to play the entire game of baseball... Gomez is just awesome! Between him and Segura this year, I can't decide who I like better. Can you imagine what shape this team would be in without them? I shudder to think about it. Braggs had Prince Fielder type of power, he just never put it together. I remember watching him check his swing once, and snapping the bat in half.
  18. Is Carlos Gomez the best pure athlete the Brewers have ever had? The man is just insane. Fast, strong. Wowie wow.
  19. I know they're capable of it, but coming into tonight's game, the two were a combined 21 for 98 on the season. I'm really happy to see both having a great game. I collect both player's baseball cards.
  20. I just woke up, looked at the box score, and saw that Scooter Gennett and Logan Schafer are a combined 5 for 5, with Scooter having his first career home run. Am I seeing things, or do I need to brush the sleep from my eyes?
  21. David Schoenfield (who I usually cannot stand) posted his All Star team on his ESPN column. He had Braun as a starter, and Segura and Gomez as reserves. He said Gomez was pretty much a lock as making it, even if he doesn't get voted in. If you look at the other outfielders in the NL, neither Harper or Justin Upton deserve to start over Braun. Carlos Gonzalez will be in there, as his numbers are quite good. I think Braun still gets in as a reserve. Don't be surprised to see three Brewers on the team, though I don't think any are starters.
  22. I know this is the Marlins, but Figaro is looking really good. And only 46 pitches through four innings. I'm not used to seeing that from Brewer starters.
  23. Ramirez tried to steal? Seriously? I'm faster than he is, and I'm slower than moss growing on a dead tree.
