  1. I understand the time value of money. I'm talking if they add a pitcher like a Gray/Quintana/random that may be acquired and is re-signed/extended, would it not make more sense to become as flexible as possible in 2019, 2020.
  2. I guess I should say that this thought was born of the possibility of adding pitching at the break...pitching that will become costlier before Braun's contract is up.
  3. Is it possible, and would it be smart to try and get Ryan to restructure his remaining deal to heavily front-load it? I'm thinking if possible, it'd be smart to retire as much Braun debt now while there is hardly any other payroll, to give more financial flexibility for signings and re-signings down the road.
  4. Age only really matters in his body development, but as far as his skills improving, his experience is still young, whether it's four or eight years of high school experience, that doesn't work on making his skills that much better. Better competition forces development, and I'd think we'd all agree that what he faced in high school was sub-par talent, so now that he's practicing and playing against elite talent, his growth curve as far as bettering his skills is not different whether he's 20 or 24, or somewhere in between. He's still going to see significant body development too, despite what his age may be, because he's now working out in a pro program. He's going to be an excellent player for the Bucks.
  5. What exactly have your attorneys said to you about these issues? Have you gone public with this? Reading all the way through, I'd put this pastor on blast, tell the story in detail everywhere you can...If they've stolen and sold any of his items, especially the guns, you may have people that bought these things come forward (maybe). How big of a community is this in?
  6. Good to know, I keep seeing IP Man coming up on my recommended movie list on Netflix, I will check it out. Thanks!
  7. I can see that, and don't necessarily disagree...I still had a lot of fun watching it. Probably wouldn't have been the trio I would have picked, but I think they wanted three guys that approached the electric guitar in three very different ways to show how diverse of an instrument it can be.
  8. It was more than just those two tournaments though, it was really like half of the season. We're talking the 17th pick here for a playoff team, he will be more ready to play than one of the young freshmen. His body is more ready, and his game is more refined. This isn't a rebuilding team anymore, they need to start going for it now and strike while the iron is hot. This kid can shoot, is long, will rebound, defend and run the court. He fits perfectly for what the Bucks do. I wanted Bam, and so did the Bucks, but he was long gone at 17. No one else that was available was as "ready now" at the 4/5 as this kid.
  9. Guerra's at least had nothing to do with the field. He was forced to run the bases which pitchers aren't used to doing and just came out of the box awkwardly. It is why the AL is better than the NL most years, the NL teams lose a chunk of their pitching to hitting and running the bases and they get to rest guys through the DH slot. This rule has to change one way or the other and soon. /rant off *Rant approved* Well said, Ennder.
  10. My recommendations for must-see, hidden gem type movies Not "new" movie: Layer Cake, just fun, interesting with a great soundtrack Documentary: It Might Get Loud. Three different generations of electric guitarists talking about electric guitar and music. New Releases: King Arthur...Guy Ritchie is hated by the critics, but I found this movie thoroughly entertaining. It's a known story, but I didn't find it to be "just another King Arthur" movie. I will buy a Director's cut, I think the editors played a role in the lack of success for the film....still though, loved it as did the people I saw the movie with and they own the theatre and see more movies than just about anyone else.
  11. I think Maker will grow into that defensive presence everyone is hoping for, he has the frame for adding good weight without losing athletic ability. I like the Wilson pick just fine, he finally started to get "it" down the stretch this past season and was really hard to stop for Michigan late.
  12. The same medical staff that went along with Thornburg not having surgery... I'm aware a 2b won't throw as much or as hard as a pitcher, but a 2b will have many more opportunities to throw at awkward angles without proper form, which is just as dangerous as a pitching, if not more because they are not keeping their arms warm like pitchers do. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong, but I am in favor of taking the most cautious approach in these situations. MRI's aren't perfect for reading how the injury is, actually doing an exploratory is a lot more sure fire way of ensuring it's healed properly.
  13. I was unaware he was pitching when he hurt it the first time. Since he won't be pitching, he could not injure it again.
  14. RE: Keston's elbow, I'm going to post the same thing I said about Tyler Thornburg rehabbing instead of surgery: Mistake. He may be available sooner, but that elbow will be a ticking time bomb. I know surgery is no sure-fire bet, but long-term prognosis is better than not getting it properly fixed. I'll gladly admit it if I'm wrong.
  15. I don't see how the results of the trade are all that important when we're talking about this little girl's life. SMH. But since you brought it up, why would you cheer for the Red Sox to get a raw deal on this trade? All it does is make them less likely to deal with the Brewers again. The BoSox front office probably doesn't blame the Brewers for this situation, but they will want to avoid the PR side of this with their fanbase if they end up on the wrong end of really unbalanced trade scenario.
  16. Probably a bullpen guy. At least that is what comes to mind when I look at him overall. Really? Even if he does have three real pitches?
  17. Interesting, the Dodgers just took Zach Pop. White Sox also took Evan Skoug.
  18. Bowden Francis, interesting pick in the 7th. Like the three pitch repetoire, not crazy about the weird delivery, but what do I know.
  19. Anyone gone through and estimated what they think the Brewers may have available for surplus pool money so far?
  20. A draft expert once told me on twitter to always expect players drafted on day 1 and day 2 to sign.Callis was getting sick of getting asked last night if there were signability issues with this guy and that. He just kept repeating, two guys in the first 10 rounds in last years draft didn't sign. Chances are, they'll sign.
  21. If you do, you should call Attanasio and explain to him why you should be in the front office instead of Sterns and company.
  22. Oh, OK...got it. I'm all for the "the bat plays" mantra, so I'm good with the pick, not criticizing at all. Thanks T and AT for the knowledge.
  23. That isn't really true. It is more no one really knows if he can or not because he hasn't played there that much since his freshman year. What's the likelihood that he'll stick behind the plate if he was moved from Catcher in college? (not flaming, asking seriously for your thoughts, I know almost nothing about him).
