  1. Just read the synopsis, seems many doubt he can stick at catcher, more like a 1B...hit tool is why he's drafted. Brewers going with the Cubs draft mantra a little here?
  2. KJ Harrison, a catcher....drafting for need here?
  3. Two in the top ten rounds, according to Jim Callis last night.
  4. I hear you. But the 9th best talent is still going to be better than he 20th best talent or whoever you take. I realize if you go 9 and pay him slot then you can't necessarily reach higher with 34. But honestly with the depth we have in our system I'd rather go 9 and 34 then, say, 20 and 22. I think we need the elite type player and while I realize anyone could turn into the elite type player I think the odds are more likely that the more talented guy will. As far as our pick goes I am convinced we are taking Adell but I still have hopes for either Baz, Faedo or Bukauskas. As Oxy pointed out in the subsequent post, this is not necessarily true. IIRC, both Gatewood and Harrison were considered to have higher ceiings than Medeiros. I don't really care how much depth the Brewers are perceived to have, they are going to need more. Completely agree with this. There is no such thing as "enough depth." The Brewers cannot afford to ever have another bankrupt farm system. Best way to ensure that is to stuff as much talent into it as possible, quantity as well as quality.
  5. Did anyone double-check that this isn't Lou Palmisano trying to get back into the draft? Where is his birth certificate?!?
  6. I may have missed it, but what is your close connection to David Peterson? I work with/am friends with his mother-in-law....he's not married yet, but they are engaged.
  7. Round 1, Pick 9, the Milwaukee Brewers select David Peterson, LHP, University of Oregon
  8. Since no one really stands out to me as a must-take of those being talked about with the Brewers, given PG's rank and my admitted/acknowledged personal bias, I hope the Brewers pick David Peterson. Big, tall LHP with great K:BB and K/9 works for me. Brewers could use more LHP in general, even if he only projects to mid-rotation, that's fine by me. It would be cool to have such a close connection to a possible Brewer.
  9. Hopefully he doesn't decide to self-medicate for the pain.
  10. Wow, that is just not smart on Romero's part. I just will never understand how short-sighted some of these young talented people can be.
  11. I think Lavar should spend less time hyping and more time helping his son fix his broke-azz jumper.
  12. I was JUST about to edit my post....sorry about that, hadn't read as far as #387 when I asked the question. His future mother-in-law is a very matter of fact person about people and is incredibly successful in a field that requires you to read people. She GLOWS when talking about David. I saw his 20 Strikeout game against ASU, it was impressive. His walk to strikeout rate is insane this year....he made some minor tweaks to his mechanics since last season and the results have shown. Have to love the physical size, would imagine he could add a tick or two to his velocity and will be able to sustain it.
  13. Patrick, Was wondering if you would mind sharing some of your thoughts on rising Oregon Friday night Ace David Peterson....I'm close with his future mother-in-law, so I've been trying to track down third party info on him for this year's draft.
  14. Really??? Wang certainly appears to be erecting his prospect status.
  15. I'm listening to Mike Heller's radio program on 1070 am and Craig Coshun is on talking about all the changes with the Brewers over the past few days. When they came to the subject of Villar and is he the 3B of the future, CC said he believes he's more than likely the 2B of the future....depending on what happens with Scooter in the offseason. Wondering what people think a fair return would be for Scooter, assuming he continues his solid season as is.
  16. Wow, you threw me for a loop there, at first I thought you were going with a Brady Clark reference!
  17. Add "Real Genius" to the early Val Kilmer stuff..... I liked that one a lot too, I've just see it replay quite a bit, so that's why I didn't include it. Good call!
  18. Be Cool....Specifically, Vince Vaughn is great in this. Rat Race....thought John Cleese and Rowan Atkinson were particularly funny in this. Three Amigos....I know it was huge at the time it came out, but you don't really see it on TV anymore (at least I don't). Still one of my favorites. Top Secret!....Val Kilmer at his early comedic best.
  19. Absolutely! This movie makes me cry from laughter every time I see it. Some great minor appearances in this movie as well from Farley, Chevy Chase and especially Don Rickles.
  20. Dumb and Dumber Grumpy Old Men Grumpier Old Men Fletch Fletch Lives Rocky I-III Burgess Meredith's characters in GOM, GrOM & Rocky I-III have provided some legendary lines.
  21. That's what surprised me, pretty much nothing happened throughout the league. Off the top of my head, this was the least active trade deadline in baseball that i can recall, but maybe my memory of previous years is off. I think this is ultimately the effect of the extra Wild Card. More teams think they still have a chance, so they're less likely to make any big moves, yet they know they aren't good enough to absolutely go for it either, so they end up doing nothing. In the long run, this probably puts more importance on the Aug 31st deadline.
  22. I don't think you need that "might" in there Fondy. The Brew Crew almost definitely dodged a bullet there....add in what they DID get and it's a no-brainer. Whew!
  23. FIFY. The Crew needs talent period. Best player available as much as possible. Castellanos fits that bill....the fact that he's at a position of need is gravy.
  24. Anyone here tried it? Is it as good as I've seen it described? Thinking of picking some of this up, but wouldn't mind hearing experienced opinions first.
