  1. It is true that the Brewers overcame some blown games in 2008 to make the Wild Card. But let's take a stroll back to 2007 when the Brewers missed the playoffs by 2 games and the following things happened: 1) Loss at Texas when the Rangers were down 3 in the bottom of the 9th with 2 out and nobody on. 2) Loss vs Philadelphia when the Phillies were down 3 in the top of the 9th with 2 out and nobody on. 3) Scott Thorman. If those three extremely unlikely things fail to happen then the Brewers win the Central. The one reason I have not totally sworn off the Brewers (other than the actual reason: I can't) is that while they have given away 4 games and they have yet to steal any. That will happen at some point and when it does I will feel a lot better.
  2. Let us hope the Brewers bats have some magic left in them.
  3. The recent dearth of updates made me believe the days of FJM were coming to an end. Apparently that was the case as dak, Junior, and Ken Tremendous have decided to call it quits. It is the end of an era, but the archives are deep enough to keep me entertained for a while. Link
  4. Couldn't Escobar be moved to second base, or Gamel to second and Escobar to third, or some variation of that? I would like to see Weeks get traded but only if the Brewers could get something of equal or greater value for him.
  5. I threw my tv remote at the wall as hard as I could after Bush gave up a grand slam to Jim Edmonds back in July. The remote did not survive. I am not a person that has temper issues, but it is very difficult to control yourself when you get wrapped up in something that can be very frustrating and is also totally out of your control. Short story, I have felt what you have felt when you smashed your chair. Taking a break from this team is a good idea and perhaps I should follow suit.
  6. I have lost all faith in the ability of the Brewers to win in any capacity. I don't know why I watch anymore.
  7. A perfect game would have made matters slightly worse.
  8. I thought about the Superdome as well. My rationale is that it is close to Houston and the dimensions of the makeshift baseball field would be decently close to those at The Juice Box, with a short porch in left field and all.
  9. I decided today that I am going to root for the Cubs to have the division sealed up by the last series of the season. This way they would have no incentive to pitch Harden or Zambrano and would probably be inclined to rest Soriano, Lee, Ramirez and Co. But rooting for the Cubs to win the division you play in. If that is not this sign of panic then I do not know what is.
  10. Kent: Hordes of panicky people seem to be evacuating Miller Park for some unknown reason. Professor, without knowing precisely what the danger is, would you say it's time for our posters to crack each other's heads open and feast on the goo inside? Professor: Mmm, yes I would, Kent.
  11. That is correct. Despite the crappy play of the Brewers over the past 8 games, the fact of the matter is that 2 consecutive wins by the Brewers coupled with two consecutive losses by the Philles would put the Crew up 5.0 with 16 to play. That said, right now I feel like the fan of a 14-seed in the first round of the NCAA Tournament that is watching a double-digit lead slowly-but-surely vanish.
  12. The Wild Card lead of the Brewers is as big right now as it was on August 10th!
  13. Panic mode to the point that I simply don't want to watch the team anymore. This is just like last year when you knew they were going to blow a lead, it was just a matter of when. Oh yeah, the Brewers have 4 games @ Philadelphia, 3 @ Chicago, and 3 vs. Chicago. I am just going to enjoy lead while it lasts, because once it is gone it will not be coming back.
  14. For those of you scoring at home, the Brewers are 2-6 on this homestand. It's almost as if they forgot how to win and/or are trying their best to miss the playoffs. This is just awful, and if they miss the playoffs this season they may as well fold the franchise.
  15. Since his low ERA point of the season, Sheets has made 10 starts and is struggling to the tune of a 4.10 ERA (105 ERA+), .738 OPS Against, 56 K, 17 BB, and 3 HR in 63.2 innings pitched. A slumping Sheets is still the second best pitcher on the Brewers.
  16. Walk off HRs are not as fun when that happen against your favorite team.
  17. The teams in the highest level of Japanese baseball are named after the corportations that own the teams.
  18. There will be no extra-inning games, only juggling contests. Each team will have a designated juggler and the first team that stops juggling loses. An additional ball must be thrown to each juggler after 60 seconds of consecutive juggling.
  19. Botched double play balls are something that good teams can overcome. Signed, Alex Gonzalez Joking aside, I was day-dreaming earlier today about the Brewers beating the Cubs in game 7 of the NLCS on a walk-off inside the park grand slam. As great as that would be, should that actually happen I will soon lose all will to live because I will have experienced the highest level of happiness that I am capable of feeling. Rant aside, I can live with pretty much any ending to the season as long as it happens in the playoffs. Missing the postseason this year is something that I simply to do not want to have to handle.
  20. Fans of opposing teams probably feel the same way when they get shut down Bush and McClung, less recently to Parra, and to a lesser extent Suppan. On the other side of the matter, doesn't it also seem that the Brewers rake when at least two of Counsell, Rivera, Dillon, and Kapler are in the lineup? Just a thought.
  21. I would be very excited if the Brewers got Sabathia. The price may be steep, but if the Brewers have to part with some players that might be contributers in 2010 then so be it. A 1-2 punch of Sheets and Sabathia could do some serious damage in the post season.
  22. Apparently MLB.com has a new/updated media player for their highlights and such. What do I need to download so I can watch each and every one of 3TO's bombs?
  23. Opening Day 2005, the longest HR in Miller Park history, the HR that landed in the Dew Deck, and now you can add an epic game-tying HR to the list of of moments that by themselves were well worth the price of admission. All hail 3TO!
  24. A massive tip of the cap to Russ for doing some research on this subject. I actually started this thread with the hope that Russ would be able to pull something up...lo and behold he came through! Thanks for the help and slight restoration of my sanity!
