  1. Ryan Braun has jumped to #39 with a VORP of 29.8. If that's not impressive enough, Braun is not too far behind Prince Fielder, who has a VORP of 36.3.
  2. That series actually should have been a split, lest we forget the Cubs' rally on Monday. What irks me is that two 43+ thousand crowds have had to watch this crap.
  3. Per JSOnline: It's only a Partial Tear. The Milwaukee Brewers received good news on pitcher Ben Sheets today as the ultrasound test performed this morning showed only partial tearing in a tissue band holding the tendon of his right middle finger in place. That most likely means that Sheets will miss closer to a two-week period than the six weeks he could have missed had the tissue been completely torn.
  4. If the LOOGY could double as a mop-up guy he would have good value, in my opinion.
  5. Forget that. I would like to see TGJ vs. Ned Yost (The same Ned Yost that beat Enrique Cruz) in a home run derby.
  6. I understand the sentiment, but I'm going to have to disagree. The reason for this is that I have heard that there would be random bursts of excitement at Camp Randall Stardium during the '82 Pennant Run and World Series. I find that to be pretty cool. As for your example, I think the fact that the cheers are coming from someone that is at a Brewer game should be taken into consideration. I appreciate their decision to attend a Brewer game as opposed to watching the Packer game at home.
  7. I would like to see Vargas traded if for no other reason than it would allow Villanuva Burrell has a no-trade clause and it is unlikely that he would accept a trade to Milwaukee. To go on a bit of a rant, Philly fans really hate Burrell, who happens to have a .391 OBP this season. Apparently they don't like players that average 30 HR, 32 doubles, and 95 walks a season.
  8. Here are some past trades involving Lofton: December 3, 2004: Traded by the New York Yankees to the Philadelphia Philles for Felix Rodriguez. July 23, 2003: Traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates with Aramis Ramirez and cash to the Chicago Cubs for a player to be named later, Jose Hernandez, and Matt Bruback (minors). The Chicago Cubs sent Bobby Hill (August 15, 2003) to the Pittsburgh Pirates to complete the trade. July 28, 2002: Traded by the Chicago White Sox to the San Francisco Giants for Felix Diaz and Ryan Meaux (minors).
  9. We know that the Brewers are interested in Kenny Lofton and may or may not have almost acquired Akinori Otsuka. So let's just say that the Brewers are seriously interested in trading for those two players. What would it take to get them both? I would imagine Gwynn, Vargas, and a prospect or two would get it done. The question, of course, is which prospect(s) it would be. EDIT: I should mention that I would ALMOST pee my pants if this trade happened. I say almost because I'm saving myself for a very special occasion. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. How many full season ticket holders do the Brewers currently have? For some reason the number 3,000 seems about right.

  12. "On-base percentage is great if you can score runs and do something with that on-base percentage, clogging up the bases isn't that great to me." -Dusty Baker Is there any truth to the belief that the OBP prowess of Adam Dunn, Frank Thomas, Pat Burrell, et al is cancelled out by lack of speed. Is there any evidence that high OBP/slow baserunners hurt, or at the very least do not help, their team by getting on base? Personally I believe that getting on base is always an overwhelming positive, but might I be mistaken?
  13. Cubs down 3-2 going into the bottom of the 8th. If the Bucs can hold on at least the bowl of crap would have whipped cream and a cherry on top.
  14. It would have been nice to go into the All-Star Break feeling warm and fuzzy with a win. Now we have this bowl of crap to digest until Friday. Yuck.
  15. Generally you need baserunners to manufacture runs. The Brewers have had a dearth of baserunners in this game.
  16. Game Over. In other news, the Bucs escaped a bases-loaded no-out situation with only one run scored.
  17. As the old saying goes: In baseball you''ll win 54 and you'll lose 54, but it's what you do in those other games that counts...The 2002 Brewers went 2-52 in those "other games."
  18. I hope that the AL playoffs are set up so that Boston and Cleveland would face each other in the ALCS. That had the potential to be epic.
  19. When will Villy replace Vargas in the rotation? Nothing against Vargas, who could start on pretty much every team on in the Majors, it's just that I have a fever and the only cure is more Villanueva!
  20. Jeff Francoeur 2005: 257 ABs, 11 BB, .291 EqA Jeff Francoeur 2006: 651 ABs, 23 BB, .246 EqA
  21. I seem to recall a screen-grab from 2005 of Ben Sheets humping Bill Hall in the dugout. Anyone know what I am talking about?
  22. Be careful. I've heard that there's big trouble in little China at the moment.
  23. As good as Sheets has been I remained puzzled by his 6.18 K/9. From 2004-2006 he had a K/9s of 10.03, 8.10, and 9.85, respectively. Furthermore, his career K/9 is 7.65. Has the league figured out Sheets, so to speak? And by that I mean, has the league figured out how to not look foolish by Sheets' curve, to which Sheets has adapted in order to remain successful
  24. The Nats currently have a pythagorean W/L of 29-49 to go with their actual record of 32-46, which, as a Brewer fan, I am conditioned to view as a solid record.
  25. You beat me to it Brian. This was a pound-of-flesh type victory for the Cubs. Let's get 'em tomorrow or die trying!
