  1. Should have been a strikeout. I assume, sarcastically, we will also get the same call. It's sad that umps can lose concentration and not do their job.
  2. It may take winning three of four against the Cubs at MP and picking up one game elsewhere to win it outright. Those series' against the Reds and Pirates are important. We can't play down to them. I could be wrong, but instead of the bullpen starts, I'd look at Wilkerson and/or Jungmann at least once. They've both pitched well late. That's what I would have done.
  3. Although the '87 Brewers were close. It had to be said.
  4. Broxton's use and understanding of the strike zone is shockingly inept.
  5. I have a feeling that the more you see of Aguilar, the less we will like him. He's been used very well by CC this season. Could be so. I like him. But this may very well be his optimal use as you said.
  6. Thames' RBI count is not great. That's a good example. He's got a guy at second with one out and can't come through. Situations like that cause his weird stat line. I suppose he has a decent OBP but I'm not a big fan. I'd be curious to see what Aguilar could do with more ABs
  7. Calling that a double was pure charity. Next year, we shouldn't have to be subjected to Perez in right.
  8. Come on Perez. That was do-able. With Hendricks on deck, that was inexcusable.
  9. The Cubs really need a legit CF. When they parted ways with Fowler, I had a feeling that it would bite them.
  10. The strike zone the other night when that tiny guy was the home plate umpire was inconsistent as can be.
  11. Man, I love how fast Davies works. He doesn't waste any time. Throw the ball back to him and let's go.
  12. Fair enough. And that's all I'm saying. Just to be clear, I've seen actual comparisons and posts that reek of this attitude. I have bit my tongue so as not to personalize it and break forum rules. I made a general statement without calling anyone out. Others can read certain posters' hot takes and see what they have in common.
  13. Ahhhhh, the race card... When you play it where it has no business, it has no effectiveness. There is no reason to continue to post on the subject now once it goes that direction. Thanks for playing, but the game is now over... Um no. It's a factor that can be considered by any particular reader. I'm hardly a minority apologist but to read pretty blatant biases and then hide your head in the sand about the real world isn't doing anyone any favors. This isn't about politics but about baseball and observations. If you cannot handle fair discussion within forum rules, then stay quiet. I can discuss things without getting personal.
  14. I was referring to him as a dumb ass in a baseball context. Surely, you could understand that.
  15. Sure it does. When you see people take ridiculously inconsistent positions, and it's an obvious factor, its fair to be discussed. It's not breaking any forum rules.
  16. I'm not going to call anybody out on an individual basis, but I challenge all readers of this forum to notice and pay attention to certain trends. Certain pigmented players are dumb and inadequate while guys with less pigment are favorites and not viewed as dumb. Sadly, Villar, Gomez, Broxton, and others are complained about loudly by some folks as dumb players while less pigmented guys get a free pass. Gennett is a dumb ball player, regardless of skin pigment, yet the guys complaining about the Villars defend the Gennetts. If it weren't sad, it would be comical. Going forward, note what you will about certain posters. If I've seen it, I'm sure others have as well. It's still out here in 2017.
  17. That kind of proves the point. If he were a first division player, he'd be worth money. You could win despite him, sure, if you were stuck with him but good teams would not seek him out as an answer. Top echelon teams aren't going to trot Scooter out there if they can help it. The Brewers tried to trade him before dumping him. Obviously, there wasn't enough interest or he'd be traded.
  18. It's a hell of a lot more than touching second base with Gennett. Terrible base runner, not knowing how many outs there were at times, making bad decisions.
  19. More importantly, are you trying to say he was a bright player? Would any informed fan take that position?
  20. I saw him play for years. He made a ton of mental errors. He is not a winning baseball player. I'm glad he's gone.
  21. So you want the Cubs to have Schwarber at DH for the next decade? No thanks. Come on, doc. You don't make a big picture decision based on minutae like Schwarber playing. We can get a hitter only guy too. Heck, maybe Keston Hiura is that guy. But, that's not the issue. It's a number of factors that we've discussed. The quality of play is minimized with pitchers hitting. They get hurt frequently. The strategic component you lose is not significant. They are different types of athletes who aren't set up to hit and run bases, by and large.
  22. The biggest consistency with Scooter is his team's record. He's a classic second division ball player. You will lose a ton of ball games with him in the lineup. Horrible defender, minimal range, ok pop on occasion against right handers. Most importantly, he's a total dumbass. Dumb players kill you. I'm not going to sit here and regret losing Scooter. Jeez. We needed to move on and try to get a first division talent at second for the long term.
  23. I'd give Jungmann a look. Last time I looked, I think he has under a 3.00 era at CS, which is saying something. We've just kind of been there done that with Jungmann, which is why I'd prefer to just take a shot with Wilkerson. Who knows, maybe he has that beginner's success you sometime see when the league hasn't seen the guy. But I'd rather try Jungmann than Garza for sure. We can be unified on no Garza, that's something that would have overwhelming support.
  24. It's scary. Nelson is one of my favorite home grown Brewer hurlers, ever. I defended him even when he wasn't so hot. Anyway, now he's got good movement going with nice control now. He's also very competitive, and he works very hard by all accounts. I'm a fan. Let's hope he returns as good as new. I want to say Drew Brees had a torn labrum around 2005 and look how great he's been, so let's hope for the best. They are saying partial tear. Fingers crossed. Big fan, as I've said.
