  1. Could not agree more. I was talking with someone "in the know" about Funkhouser and I said I felt that drafting him would be like drafting Jungmann again. He laughed and threw in "Or Jed Bradley" in there.
  2. First, great effort and better than anything I could ever put together. I will say that unless the Braves are blowing smoke, I have been told they will not be taking Stephenson at 14. Also, if still on the board, Harris will not last past 9 and the Cubs. Also, Allard will probably go much higher than 18 and will most likely be off the board before the Brewers pick.
  3. Medeiros, K Coulter, C Taylor, T Arcia, O Williams, D Harrison, M Rogers, J Denson, D Lara, G Gatewood, J Hellweg, J Roache, V Lopez, J Williams, T Wang, W Wagner, T Rivera, Y Bradley, J Matos, S Jungmann, T Delmonico, N Pena, A Cravy, T Pierre, N Diaz, M As others have noted, that was actually pretty difficult. Considered several others and actually had to leave off some guys I really thought would be included. My next ten in no particular order: Reed, M Neuhaus, T McFarland, C Diaz, B Belonis, C Gagnon, D Johnson, H Weisenburger, A Mallen, F Yamamoto, J
  4. Another bomb and three more RBI for Rogers in the second game (so far). Nice night for Rogers, or anyone really.
  5. I don't recall Juan Ortiz or Yunior Santana being mentioned as those coming stateside from the DSL, but neither appears on the DSL roster either. Any news on either of those guys?
  6. So is that the cycle for Taylor today? Looks like it.
  7. Any "stuff" reports on Bradley this spring. The numbers are certainly impressive thus far but is that a product of a third trip through high A or has there been some real improvement in his stuff?
  8. Torn UCL for Hellweg, bad break. McCalvy: Hellweg has torn elbow ligament
  9. Any particular reason Pena only went four innings tonight? His line looks pretty dominant.
  10. Not sure what you mean, many sites pegged him as a sleeper to watch. He was a college reliever converted to starter, who struggled in Helena that first year, so he's going to be a wait and see guy for many prospect watchers, but his name is consistently out there. He also gets a ton of love on this forum, I talked about and broke him down in great detail over the course of last season. One would think, considering the state of the system (particularly in the pitching department), that he would get more than a token nod as a sleeper candidate. I know that we are familiar with him on this board, I was speaking more from a national perspective. Even assuming a wait and see approach, players such as Jungmann, Bradley, and Magnifico are routinely mentioned before him and, in my humble opinion, provide less upside.
  11. So when does Tyler Wagner start to get some legit recognition?
  12. But, what would they do if Lowe and Leon did not have roster spots in AA?
  13. No Kentrail Davis, Josh Prince, or Jason Rogers at Nashiville. Rogers going to AA or staying in Arizona to work at third?
  14. Do they still piggy-back starter at high-A? I would guess Wagner, Lopez, Bradley, and Magnifico are locked into the rotation with Ross and Johnson as the candidates for the other slot? With the above mentioned track record for developing left handed pitchers, that would rule out Johnson.
  15. Rivera and Arcia at Brevard. Will be interesting to see how that plays out.
  16. There has to be some back-story on some of these guys that we don't know about. I know the organization has a glut of fringy middle relief types and a similar glut of fringy infield types, but really? The organization feels better about Shea Vucinich and Greg Hopkins than it does about Renaldo Jenkins or Jalen Harris? Alan Sharkey does nothing for two years, but Weiss and Giacalone get the boot? You could probably fill two entire pitching staffs with guys 25 and older that have had worse results than Wall or Williams, but they all stick? What am I missing? In most of those cases, it certainly is not draft status.
  17. Lots of good names have been thrown out on this thread and I would agree with just about all of them. I also have come less heralded names that I have some interest in on varying levels. Gian Rizzo, Milton Gomez, Rodolfo Fernandez, Zach Quintana, Alejandro Lavandero, Yosmer Leal, Tyler Linehan, and Taylor Williams from the pitching perspective. As for hitters, Franly Mallen, Nicolas Pierre, Carlos Belonis, Chris McFarland, Juan Ortiz, Jose Pena, Elvis Rubio, and Michael Turay.
  18. 1. Jimmy Nelson 2. Tyrone Taylor 3. Orlando Arcia 4. Johnny Hellweg 5. Victor Roache 6. Devin Williams 7. Ariel Pena 8. Hunter Morris 9. Taylor Jungmann 10. Mitch Haniger 11. Clint Coulter 12. Nick Delmonico 13. Gian Rizzo 14. Tucker Neuhaus 15. Jorge Lopez 16. Hiram Burgos 17. Drew Gagnon 18. Tyler Wagner 19. Jason Rogers 20. D'Vontrey Richardson 21. Michael Reed 22. Jed Bradley 23. David Goforth 24. Sean Halton 25. Brooks Hall ---------------------- 26. Damien Magnifico 27. Kentrail Davis 28. Yadiel Rivera 29. Nick Ramirez 30. Cody Scarpetta 31. Austin Ross 32. Nick Bucci 33. Garrett Cooper 34. Jose Pena 35. Jorge Ortega 36. Anthony Banda 37. Josh Prince 38. Zach Quintana 39. Milton Gomez 40. Rodolfo Fernandez 41. Daniel Keller 42. Astin Barrett 43. Davis Denson 44. Elvis Rubio 45. Taylor Brennan 46. Chris McFarland 47. Angel Ortega 48. Carlos Belonis 49. Max Walla 50. Taylor Williams Not sure the order is great but this is my top 25 and 25 more.
  19. According to what I found on MLB, the rookies limits for a pitcher are 50IP or 45 days on the active roster. Hitters need to meet the 130AB limit or have 45 days on the active roster. There is no limitation on the basis of appearances. Again, just what I am seeing. Based on that criteria, I would think all of Gennett, Kh. Davis, and Thornburg would be exceed the rookie limits this season. EDIT: I think Gindl and Wooten are going to exceed those limits as well.
