This is not directed at an individual poster. But, how in the blue hell does it matter if Rodriguez comes in with runners on? He pitches from the STRETCH anyway. The glorification of the "closer" has been driven to ridiculous levels.
Absolutely ridiculous "managing". RRR has warmed up 3 relievers in a game in which his starter has gone 8 innings using 96 pitches with only two 3 ball counts. It doesn't matter what the result will be, this is POOR.
This is not a tough decision at all. Gallardo has been dominant and doesn't look to have lost anything at all. I hate the "it's the 9th inning, so we MUST bring in our closer" mindset.
Of course, as soon as I advocate small ball Braun hits one out. Good call, RRR. Braun's homer reminded me of his 3 homer game at Petco at night. Hard to hit them out in Chavez and Petco opposite field at night.
This is what I don't understand. Playing for one run is usually a bad idea, but if there was ever a time this early in the game this was it. RRR just seems to have no method.
Hi everyone. I've been a lurker since the JM Gold days. First post. Maybe, just maybe RRR could bring Jeffress back for the 8th. I can't understand his fascination with burning relievers after 1/3 of an inning.
