  3. If you sign a player who was offered the qualifying offer, you have to give up your third highest pick, right? Would that be the Comp B pick that we just traded away? If so, it seems like we got value for something we might have been planning on losing.
  4. Love it. Injuries and hot/cold streaks usually sort things out (See outfield last year).
  5. I would rather keep Phillips than Santana.
  6. For some reason I left Hiura off my list. Sorry. Here is the updated list: 1. Brett Phillips 2. Lucas Erceg 3. Corbin Burnes 4. Lewis Brinson 5. Keston Hiura 6. Brandon Woodruff 7. Luis Ortiz 8. Freddy Peralta 9. Tristan Lutz 10. Isan Diaz 11. Monte Harrison 12. Corey Ray 13. Kodi Medeiros 14. Jacob Gatewood 15. Taylor Williams 16. Mauricio Dubon 17. Marcos Diplan 18. Phil Bickford 19. 9. Padres Brewers get: Brad Hand Padres get: Trent Clark, Louis Ortiz
  10. My point above wasn't about Ray being good or not. It was about trying to not actively root against making a certain pick (position or skill set) because of the mixed feelings it brings if/when that player gets picked.
  11. I was going to go Bukauskas, but with him off the board, we'll go slightly under slot 1.9--D.L. Hall
  12. I try to resist the urge of rooting against the Brewers picking a certain prospect. I did that with outfielders last year, and then they picked Ray. As soon as they picked him, I started rooting for him to do well. Now I'm hoping he becomes the next Brinson or Phillips, but the results aren't there yet, and I feel disappointed, but also vindicated in being against the Ray pick. It's a lot of inner turmoil for a player we won't really have a complete judgement on for a few more years. Because of this, I'm going to single out the players I like (Bukauskis, Hall, Baz), and keep an open mind on players that make me nervous (Kendall, Adell, Faedo) or players that seem safe, but not spectacular (Smith, Peterson).
  13. Tier 1: 1. Lucas Erceg--In the end, I think he will have the best career. 2. Lewis Brinson 3. Josh Hader Tier 2: 4. Luis Ortiz 5. Isan Diaz 6. Brett Phillips 7. Mauricio Dubon 8. Corey Ray Tier 3: 9. Phil Bickford 10. Brandon Woodruff 11. Gilbert Lara 12. Kodi Medeiros 13. Ryan Cordell 14. Nathan Kirby Tier 4: 15. Marcus Diplan 16. Trent Clark 17. Jorge Lopez 18. Jacob Nottingham 19. Monte Harrison 20. Clint Coulter 21. Cody Ponce Tier 5 22. Kyle Wren 23. Freddy Peralta 24. Nash Walters 25. Demi Orimoloye Just Missed: 26: Jacob Gatewood 27. Chad Mcclanahan 28. Corbin Burnes 29. Josh Pennington 30. Ronnie Gideon
  14. Brewers Record: 72-90 Playoffs: No Brewers MVP: Braun Brewers CY Young: Anderson Brewers ROY: Kyle Wren (Fills in as 4th outfielder) First player traded: Peralta Surprise player: Santana (most homeruns-32); Gennett (starting 2nd baseman to finish the year) Disappointing player: Thames (Shaw becomes first baseman, Villar to 3rd, Gennett to 2nd) World Series: Blue Jays over Cubs
  15. 8 in the top 100 is nothing to sneeze at. I will admit, I've had both Brett Phillips and Clint Coulter in my top spots before.
  16. With this team's flexibility, especially Villar, Scooter is pretty much backing up the entire infield in a roundabout way. JosephC hit the nail on the head with the fact that if anyone goes down in the infield, Scooter slides in at second and everyone can get shuffled around. The flexibility of the rosters allows us to carry a lefty, veteran bat who I wouldn't feel horrible about having to play an extended period if needed. Besides, if Scooter is traded, he would likely be replaced by someone of Rivera's ilk--and I'd much rather have Gennett play 100 games if an injury occurred. The other option would be a Jerry Hairston type, but that could cost you $2.5 million as well. Then again, maybe it just comes down to what Gennett brings behind the scenes. For all we know, he's a great guy to have on the bench, and with a team as young as this, and with Braun possibly getting traded, they may want that positive influence in the clubhouse. I won't lose any sleep with Gennett being on this team.
  17. I think we have so much depth in the minors, quantity isn't going to benefit us much unless it is high ceiling guys in the lower minors. We lost Diaz this year, and we probably are going to lose a few more good players over the next few years. If we keep collecting 45 grade guys, where are we going to put them? How is the 40 man roster going to be shaped?
