  1. That was the best play of the early season by Weeks. I love seeing him light Soto up, and then to see Gwynn right behind him was fantastic. Great play.
  2. I'm with End on this. Both teams have some great hitters in their lineup and are pretty solid 1-7. The big thing I see in the Brewers favor is their youth and that we know we probably haven't seen the best of Hart, Fielder, Hardy, Weeks, and Braun. There is really no telling how good this offense can be. The Crew's starting pitching, bullpen and defense should be better this year as well. I guess I tend to compare this Brewers team to last years more than I worry about the Cubs. It's clear to me that this is a much better team than last years team and so far what I've seen from the Cubs is that they haven't improved as much as the "experts" think.
  3. I'm in the same boat. It's too late of notice for me to start planning a trip to Milwaukee. I just got my email this afternoon and can start buying Thursday @ 9 am. If someone wants to get the tickets or at least try I'd be glad to forward the email on to you. Just send me a message in my in box here w/your email address.
  4. It does look like there is a clearing about an hour away. I took the whole week off of work(4 day games), so I guess I wouldn't be too upset if they try it tomorrow.
  5. I hate the Timberwolves this time of year. I imagine I'll miss the game as well tonight in EC as we always get the Wolves over the Crew.
  6. I'm under 30 and live in EC and besides going to Water St I don't see that much exciting to do.
  7. This is what works for me too. If I lay down and feel the room spinning I know I have to stay awake until that stops. The best thing for me is to have 2-3 beers when I wake up.
  8. I think Hughes will end up being a better point guard than Taylor was. Taylor was much more of a shoot 1st guard while Hughes will make the entire team better with his penetration and passing skills. I expect a big year from Landry and think he can make up a lot of what they're losing in Tucker.
  9. If there was a significant game (end of season, playoffs, world series) at the same time of any Packer game I'd be at a bar watching both at the same time. I consider myself a diehard Packer fan and haven't missed a game for at least 15 years. However, seeing the Brewers in a really meaningful game would be something I couldn't miss and if I were forced to pick one I'd probably watch the Brewers and tape the Packers.
  10. I'll second third the Mazda love I guess i'll 4th that love. I have a 2004 Mazda 6 with the bigger 6 with a manual transmittion and it's a blast to drive. I don't drive too much and don't put a lot of miles on my car (17,000 in 3+ years) so I wanted a fun car to drive and wasn't as concerned about the mileage. I get about 20 in the city and close to 30 on the HWY, but the Mazda 3 is much better and overall gets better ratings overall. I test drove both and both are very solid fun cars. I just liked the bigger Mazda 6.
  11. I work in the collection department of a local financial and mainly deal with repossessing and selling vehicles. One thing that causes people to stop paying is when their cars break down and rather than fix them they just buy another vehicle and leave their piece of crap in the backyard, on the side of the road, wherever. We get a lot of Hyundai's back and most have major mechanical issues. more than any other vehicle I can think of. Any Hyundai older than a 2000 we don't even bother picking up. Like I said previously. Hyundai's probably have greatly improved over 5 years.. but it's not hard to improve greatly when they were commonly known as an extremely unreliable vehicle. As for the Nissan's. My gf just bought a brand new Sentra. For a girl living in the cities and driving in rush hour and also having to drive back to Wisconsin on a regular basis it's perfect. I'm a big guy though and it's just too small for me to drive comfortably. I also was about the buy a Maxima when I got my Mazda, but they get pretty expensive and they're almost too big. The Altima is right in between size wise, has ample speed, and also is a really nice vehicle. I've driven all 3 on several occasions.
  12. The Hyundai's generally come with a pretty good warranty and I have also heard they have become more reliable. However, that statement really doesn't mean much. Hyundai's in the past would be lucky to make it to 75,000 miles and it should be pretty easy to be "more reliable" than that. The main concern I have with Hyundai's is their resale value is pathetic. However, it seems like you're one to buy a car and drive it to death, which may not cause as much concern. At the same time, if you want a car to drive to death I'd suggest paying the extra $ for a Honda as there is no way you will ever get over 150,000 on a Hyundai and you'd be driving that Civic twice as long as a Hyundai. I drive a '2004 Mazda 6 that I bought brand new 3+ years ago. I haven't had any problems, but I have only put 17,000 miles on it in the time I've had it.
  13. Anyone tried Beck's? Beck's is good, and St Paulies is also in a green bottle and I really like that. As is Dos XXX which is another great Mexican beer in a green bottle.
  14. I'm definately in love with beer. I've tried so many I can't even remember half of them or what they taste like. For a while when I was younger I decided that every time I got some beer I'd get a new kind... just to try it out and keep a bottle. I now have a bottle collection of over 140 different types of beer I've tried. There seems to be different beer that I like on different occassions. For instance; if it's a nice hot summer day and I'm sitting out in the sun I love Pacifico, but would take most mexican beer. I'm not a big fan of Guiness, but I really like Harp (made by guiness). When it comes to dark beer I am a huge fan of the Old Peculiar. I'm a huge Red Stripe fan as well. I've tried a bunch of micro brews as well, but besides the local midwest stuff most its random and sparatic where I can't really have it on a regular basis. I pretty much love beer in general, but I love it so much that I tend to go for the "cheap" beer more often than not just because spending $25 on a 24 pack of Pacifico is great... but when I can spend $13 on a 30 pack of PBR it's even better. I guess I'm like an old cig smoker who has come to the point where they put down the Camels and start smoking the Basic.
  15. Season 4 starts 9-27 I'm picking up season 3 and maybe taking a few days to watch it before season 4 starts. Love this show. However, I am concerned that Pam and Jim being together may turn out to be a bad thing for the show all together. I can just see that being even more of a topic than it has in the past.
  16. It's tradition for me to watch all the Packer games w/my Dad at his house... but this year it may have to change and I may end up going to the Bar for the first month of the football season.
  17. I'm no weather expert, but it appears that Pittsburgh will start getting rain with in an hour, but the heaviest stuff will be to the south and it may clear up quickly. I'm still hoping for a game.
  18. That's not true at all. If he sits out of professional basketball for a year he can re-enter the draft next year. At least take the time to make sure you actually are right when telling someone else "that's not true at all". Per todays JS Bucks general manager Larry Harris has insisted he does not want to trade Yi. The forward could return to his team in the Chinese Basketball Association, the Guangdong Tigers, but the Bucks would retain his NBA rights. Also, the Bucks drafted Rashard Griffith a while back and he remained property of the Bucks for years. Same thing happened with Toni Kukoc when he was drafted by the Bulls. This isn't the NFL or MLB, in the NBA the team that drafts the player does hold the rights to that player even if he sits out a year, or two or five.
  19. Leaving for both tonight and Sundays games right now. I'm hoping to be around a bunch of crazy Brewer fans.
  20. I'd be all for a DH on Sunday.. nothing like an entire day of Brewers baseball.
  21. Yost said yesterday that he was thinking Graffy would play 2nd instead of Weeks. Just an FYI for those predicting a big game from Richie
  22. If JJ sits tonight, Graffy at SS and Counsell at 3B? No, it'd be Graffy at 3rd and Counsell @ SS
  23. I think both Jenkins and Mench will be vital parts of this teams success. If the team is winning and both players are part of their success I don't see either being dealt unless it's for a player that will help the team more.
  24. WMLW must only be carried in certain areas. I'm not finding it listed on my tv guide here in the Eau Claire area. I'm in EC too and in the Leader Telegram last night it said the Brewers would be on tonight on FSN. I'm not sure how much I believe it though. I can never figure out the FSN coverage around this area. We get the Timberwolves over the Bucks, but the Brewers over the Twins. All the TV guide's I've looked at say that FSN will have the Bucks on tonight, but I've never got a Bucks game here, so I doubt we will get that. So I'm still hoping we might see the Crew tonight.
  25. I'm in EC and go to watch the pregame and I have the Timberwolves on!!! I can't explain my level of disappointment. Anyone have any suggestions? I guess I'll just have to go to a bar.
