  1. We have Hairston, Lopez, Counsell, and Wilson Others have already touched this but let me just add this. Of those 4, the highest, the HIGHEST, OBP amongst them is .316. Lopez's is .279, Counsell's is .250 and Hairston's is .154. None of those are good. I have a hard time believing Taylor Green and his .417 OBP with 21 HR's and 80 RBI in Nashville wouldn't be a step up from any of them offensively. Defense is the question for me. But then again, is he really that bad defensively? As long as he isn't as worse than Weeks then you don't lose anything defensively from your normal second basemen. I understand the whole "playing well don't want to mess with things" argument but to say we shouldn't call up Green because of those other four is absurd. At least two of the four you mention should be in the minors.
  2. Can someone explain to me why Green isn't a better option at second base than Lopez or Hairston? Neither of the new acquisitions are hitting well and Taylor Green is killing it in Nashville. Is it strictly about defense? Wouldn't this be a great time to get Green some at bats in Milwaukee with the hopes that maybe McGehee is traded in the offseason and Green is the everyday third basemen?
  3. We should just have a roll call of all the girls on this site.
  4. I hope he knows that for sure and is not just guessing based on the fact that its supposed to be a "medium" prospect. With all due respect to Tom H. I trust certain people on here a lot more than I trust him.
  5. I am confused. Is Foxyfoxes a girl just curious about how many other girls there are on here or is it a guy (with kind of a girly screenname.....sorry dude) trying to meet a girl on here?
  6. I don't get why the Brewers keep drafting these older, defensively limited, halfway-decent power prospects at 1b with poor batting eyes. Yeah with the utter lack of position prospects in the system, I was rather disappointed that the first position player taken was yet another first basemen. I'd have been happy with a third basemen, a catcher, a shortstop, or an outfielder but not a first basemen. I understand the whole best player available strategy, but at that point in the draft was Nick Ramirez really that far ahead of the next best player who plays one of the other positions?
  7. Good work Toby. That top 10 will look a heck of a lot better once Bradley, Jungmann and Lopez sign, that's for sure. Peralta'a turnaround from earlier this year is really getting me excited about him. Thornburg needs to cut down on those walks. I'd really, really love to see Mark Rogers find it again because he has a special arm. Depth wise, there is still a LONG way to go towards rebuilding the system, but hopefully the three names above from this past draft and hopefully up to 5 first round picks and additional second round picks next season (Fielder, K-Rod, Hawkins and/or Saito comp picks) will turn out.
  8. Well if it isn't Green, and by trading Komatsu I'm guessing it isn't Schafer or Gindl, and Melvin would be fired if it was Scarpetta, Thornburg or Peralta, who does that leave? Maybe one of the relievers mentioned earlier (Kintzler? McClendon?) and a pitcher like Rivas? I'd be fine with Rivas and a reliever. I hope Gennett or Khris Davis isn't one either.
  9. That lineup would make me throw up a little bit. No power, no tools, meh defense, and honestly I doubt either is overly productive in the MLB. Meh defense? While neither is as good as Morgan or Gomez (both of whom are gold glove quality outfielders), both are better than Corey Hart. And Schafer is killing it in Nashville right now. I know it's a small sample but he's had less than 250 ab's above A ball and so far he's more than holding his own. And don't get me wrong, I'm not proclaiming either to be all star caliber major leaguers or anything. But Komatsu is now having his second straight season with more walks than K's. His OBP was close to .400 in AA. It was well over .400 last season. And I realize that neither has any power, but power isn't a necessity in baseball. Nyger Morgan has no power but I wouldn't trade him for anyone in the lineup right now not named Braun or Fielder. You need power but you need guys to get on base too. We haven't had a lot of high OBP guys lately and one of the biggest (Fielder) is gone after the season. And I understand why this trade was made. This is the year and you need to solidify the current team. All I am saying is that I will miss a guy like Komatsu because I think he might eventually be able to bring something to the team that they don't have a lot of right now.
  10. I know I'm probably in the minority but I'm going to miss Komatsu. I really like those high OBP contact type guys even if they don't have a lot of power (like Morgan). I think with Weeks having above average power for a second basemen you could afford to have a guy like Komatsu in right field. I haven't been very high on Corey Hart ever since he's been in the majors and I thought they should have traded him to Atlanta last year. I still think they should trade him but I can't imagine they'd get very much for him anymore. The all or nothing type offense Milwaukee has thrown out there the past 4 or 5 years is getting frustrating to me and I can only imagine how bad it could be with Nyger Morgan in the lineup. I was kind of looking forward to a Logan Schafer-Erik Komatsu 1-2 lineup coming up pretty soon. Oh well. Komatsu is gone and now I'm sure Schafer will be off to NY as the PTBNL so I can forget that pipe dream.
  11. Is there a deadline for the Mets to select the players?
  12. Defensively he is an upgrade at third over McGehee right? Would he be an upgrade defensively over Weeks?
  13. If it's Taylor Green Brewer fans, at least ones who have been following him, are going to be furious. I'll be furious. The guy is up to like .331 right now in Triple A. It'll be him though. I know it'll be him.
  14. I'm awaiting the Gamel/Betancourt/McGehee/Fielder infield... I think the infield on the JV team at my local high school would be better defensively than this.
  15. There are way too many balls in that bag for this trade to be fair for ATL. I never use the term "lol" because I'm not a 15 year old girl, but when I read this I actually did laugh out loud because it's exactly what I thought when I saw that picture.
  16. Just watching the game here and if Weeks' injury is serious Taylor Green would make so much sense to replace him you know Melvin wouldn't do it. At first I'm thinking "great Eric Farris is all we've got" but then I remembered Green plays second base too. Of course he'd be called up only to sit on the bench behind Counsell and Wilson.
  17. I don't see any harm in bringing up Schafer after the Nashville season is over. He's had a ton of injuries but when he stays healthy he's quite the hitter. And good defensively as well. If not for the emergence of Morgan I'd say he had a pretty good shot at being Milwaukee's CF next season.
  18. I'm pretty certain Gamel said just the opposite. That he did not feel comfortable in the OF. If you're sure I'll take your word for it, but I thought he said he'd rather play the outfield. I'm just going off memory though and I could be wrong. Guys got a cannon of an arm. I'd like to see how that translates into the outfield.
  19. It's great seeing Wily Peralta starting to dominate again after a slow start and most importantly, keeping the walks down. As for walks, it'd be nice to see Rivera take some more and keep the strikeouts down but it's hard to find much else to complain about when looking at his numbers (errors maybe). Thornburg.....gotta keep those walks down because he looks pretty unhittable otherwise. It's nice to see such a strong 1-2 punch pitching wise in the system and hopefully Bradley, Jungmann and Lopez can add to it once they sign.
  20. I keep seeing rumors about Milwaukee inquiring about Beltran and then either playing him in center or moving Hart to center. That makes no sense to me. I'd say both the offense and defense are better with Nyger Morgan in center field. Someone mentioned it earlier, but unless Corey Hart is part of the trade I see no need for Carlos Beltran. If we are going to make a move it needs to be for a shortstop. I'd rather call Taylor Green up to replace McGehee than to make a trade for a third basemen. At the very least the defense would be better and I can't imagine Green hitting much worse than McGehee.
  21. How is it fair to only use 4 soldiers to simulate battles between Washington and Napoleon? I don't think the actual data put into the program was limited to 4 soldiers. I think that's just for the sake of the tv simulation. They do that same thing with all the groups. Green Berets vs Spetsnaz, Navy SEALS vs the Israelis, Yakuza vs Mafia, IRA vs Taliban were all the same way. They don't have the time to see how a full battle with dozens or hundreds of soldiers would end up.
  22. The weapons are demonstrations are pretty cool and even though the guys vote on which one is better I'm not sure if that really makes a difference in the final battle. I think it's a pretty legit computer program though that ends up making the decisions even though a lot of times we kind of question the results. I thought I heard them say once the program was originally designed for the military to help them predict outcomes of battles or something like that. Either way, it's pretty cool seeing experts use these ancient weapons and seeing how gruesome some of these things can be, like swords cutting a guys clean in half or sling shots that shatter bones.
  23. If anyone is still interested in this show, Season 3 just started up last night. The first episode was a matchup of an army commanded by George Washington against an army commanded by Napolean. Washington's won, but just barely. The simulation was run 5000 times and Washington won less than 1% of the time. The weapons were ok, but the episode was a little boring. Either way, it's the same general concept as previous seasons and if you don't take it too seriously if a very entertaining show to watch. Here's a link to all the season three matchups. http://blog.newsok.com/ne...rrior-season-3-matchups/
  24. I have a Charlie Moore and Mike Caldwell, both pinstripes both with box, that I'm looking to sell. Also have a Harvey Kuehn without box. $5 for the two with the box and I'll give you the Keuhn for free if you buy the other two.
