  1. Yelich is just okay in center, which is why going for Cain makes sense. Cain in CF, Yelich in RF is pretty great defensively. Santana would be dealt for sure, then.
  2. He was 23rd in WAR last season and is now moving to a hitter's park. I now prefer to trade Santana, move Yelich to right, and platoon Phillips and Broxton in center. That would be a significant improvement on last year's outfield defense.
  3. Of course Yelich is a special player. #23 in WAR in all of baseball last year, and he immediately becomes the Brewers' best player. This isn't a steal by any means, but it's a fair price, and they dealt from depth. They still have Broxton, Phillips, Braun, and Santana (for now) to go along with Yelich. And they didn't give up any of their top pitching. I'm excited--Yelich is great, and now they have their 1 or 2 hitter for the next five years who is just entering his prime.
