  1. I have been at my daughters softball tournament all day so I have been following the game on my phone. This loss will be blamed on Knebel, and yes he has not been as lights out recently like he was a couple of weeks ago, but he shouldn't receive all of the blame. This game turned in the 7th inning. Suter pitched great, six scoreless innings. He did his job. You are entering the all star break and have virtually the entire bullpen at your disposal. Why even put him out there in that position in the seventh. Come with Hughes right away. Maybe Hughes gives up two runs but I doubt it, those couple of runs gave the Yankees and their fans momentum and then the 9th came about as we all know. That game is entirely different in the 9th if it's 3-0 instead of 3-2. CC should be questioned as to why he made that decision in the 7th. At least pull Suter after the double. The kid did his job and deserved better. And yes this will sound like hindsight is 20/20 stuff but as God is my witness I was questioning aloud why the switch didn't happen right away in the 7th or after the double. Anyone else wonder about that decision? Go Brewers! And I once again realize why I can't stand the Yankees.
  2. I've coached little league teams with significantly better defense. I feel bad for Guerra. One run earned but down 3-2. Still, he is struggling badly to put away hitters. He just hasn't been able to locate like he needs to in order to succeed with reduced velocity. I give hm credit for battling but maybe he is in need of another DL stint or maybe some time in the pen.
  3. Expectations have ramped up due to the teams record. That should be expected no?
  4. Guerra is just not pitching well. He is battling but it might be time for the club to seriously question his health. His velocity is down and he really struggles locating. Also, Broxton needs a day off.
  5. I agree that Stearns will more than likely stick with the guys he has and will look for in house improvements before spending prospects. I agree that I would not look to deal Brinson, Ortiz, and Dubon. The guys I mentioned were guys I believe are somewhat redundant or have some comparable prospects within a level of the minors. I guess I am not really sold on Ray's position within the organization. Is he that much better of a prospect than Phillips or Clark? I guess I would be fine with him being the centerpiece of a Quintana deal, obviously depending on the other pieces that would be necessary. Woodruff would be tough to see go in a trade because he seems to be the closest to coming up and helping the Major a league team. But again I think we have Ortiz fairly close behind him and some others who have been performing well in AAA and AA. Diaz is a frustrating player for me I guess. I had a chance to watch him in person a couple of times last season and I thought he'd go to A+ and just go nuts but he seems to be struggling more than most would have anticipated. Plus is he expendable due to Dubon, Arcia, and Villar?
  6. A 12 spot in the first inning for the Arizona club. Looks like a slow pitch softball score.
  7. Interesting article and a discussion that has to be taking place amongst the Brewers brass. The writer suggests Quintana as a possibility and speculates that Ray, due to his local boy history, might be attractive to the Sox. What do you think it would take to get him? I believe he is under contract until 2020 with the last two years being team options for $10.5 million. He has a very affordable contract. Would Ray, Diaz, and Woodruff, and maybe another piece like a Harrison or Medeiros, get it done or would it take more or would that be too much? What about their closer David Robertson who is under contact through 2018? Could both of them be had? What would that cost? Would it be worth spending the prospects? Just something to chew on.
  8. So Hader finally gets a chance in a tight spot. Interesting.
  9. Maybe time for a day off for Broxton tomorrow. Perez in center tomorrow.
  10. I feel for Joe West getting one in the head last night but his strike zone is one of the worst in the game. So inconsistent.
  11. In Broxton's defense that called third strike was well outside.
  12. You have to think Jungmann is the replacement in the rotation for Anderson due to the early exit from tonight's game.
  13. That my friends was one great relay and tag. Could not do it any better. Hopefully Corey can shut the door.
  14. I agree 100%. What is the logic of letting Garza hit and then replace him? Did he tweak something? Especially with Braun and Thames available you need to at least take the chance.
  15. I have real concerns about Vogt's defense. His arm is not good. In order for him to have a positive impact he will have to hit. I hope I'm wrong but I don't see this move working the way the front office would have liked. And Garza with the opposite of a web gem.
