This year more than anytime has shown huge payroll guarantees nothing. Most pundits were picking the Mets or Phillies to win the East after spending more money than what God has and they didn't even make the playoffs. Instead the homegrown Braves win it going away.The Cubs are on the brink of expending all of their resources and no playoffs for them either. Red Sox? The defending champions fired their GM. However, small market teams have a much smaller window of opportunity to compete for championships before they have to retool. -
Our entire opening day starting outfield is on the shelf due to injury and still might be come our next game, whenever that may be.

We only have to win once. If this was a best of five or seven I'd be worried. Scherzer hasn't been all that great this month anyway. It's definitely doable.

It's not like I'm not pissed too. That game was a haymaker. But this team has managed to get off the mat so many times this year, I just think its foolish to once again write the obituary. I don't think anybody's burying this team yet. You can't. They're in the playoffs no matter what. I just don't think it's worth it to expend the energy it will take to try to win a division that will likely not happen. Save your strength and get ready for Washington. I'm fine with that.

I don't even want to play a Game 163 anymore. look at the big picture and have a rested team for the WC game and take it from there.

I look back to that stretch of games we had against last place teams a few months ago. Even playing .500 ball against those teams and we have the division wrapped up before this weekend. Every game counts. Even ones in April.

It doesn't look good now even tied. Probably the toughest loss of the season if it happens. I don't know if you even still try playing for the division tomorrow if you lose tonight. We already put so much into this and at some point we need to prepare for a likely WC game. I agree. Even if we end up tied tomorrow that's still another Game 163 to be played. Just play the WC game and have a rested bullpen for the Nats. This was a kick in the teeth.

Except didn't the Rockies get a late run in that one? Off JJ? I thought they only scored two runs that entire series, in the 9th inning of Game 1.

BA says Rockies haven't been shut out at home since early last season. Completely forgets Game 3 of NLDS.

Hamels being taken out the way he was pitching could be the deciding factor of this game. Maddon sucks. It's OK. After tomorrow we won't have to deal with him anymore. At least not for 19 games a year.

I heard somewhere that Coors Field is a hitters ballpark.This is not a good time to revert back to playing mediocre ball like the first five months of the season.

I really hate shifts. Before I just disliked them but now I hate them. I know we benefit more from them than most teams but man, I just hate them now.
