  1. Who's he gonna pitch? Swarzak? He blew Hader last night. Seem allergic to Guerra and Taylor Williams. Garza? Come on! They needed a big start and didn't get it. That isn't on Counsell. Should have brought Knebel in instead of Wang The Reds have the worst pitching staff in the league, and you want to blow your closer in the 3rd inning? Or should that have been in blue?
  2. I mean what can you do? Who can you put in right now? We've gotta cover 7 innings now, there are no good options to do that in the pen right now. If you aren't going to pitch Junior Guerra in a game like this, why in the heck is he even on the roster?

  4. It can be argued quite well that Hader has been the MVP of this team for the last two months. Without him, with the anemic offense they are showing, they aren't sniffing playoff baseball. I don't know if Gray would have had that type of impact.
  5. game over! 5 more to go! Please lets not make all of these nail-biters!
  6. Well, so much for the easy inning. Come on, quick double-play grounder!
  7. Well Knebel, how about a nice, clean 1-2-3 inning here?
  8. Two Ks looking? THAT is the definition of this Brewers offense lately.
  9. Well the Reds certainly haven't laid down with nothing to play for. Gotta give them credit for that. If the Brewers make the playoffs, I'd prefer to see them do it legitimately against strong competition.
  10. Because he has 3 doubles tonight, and it's only the 7th inning.
  11. Is anyone else really starting to hate Creepy David Gruber? "Let's root, root, root for the home team!"
  12. Another schoinkter base hit to score a run! The Brewers never, ever get those. Looks like another nail-biter.
  13. Ugh, if only this team could play well against the Reds and Pirates. Unfortunately Hader will likely be down until the Cardinals series now.
  14. Cozart! Gah! I kinda wish he were playing 2B for our side
  15. It wouldn't shock me if he yanked that throw on purpose. Seriously? I just ... can't. Are you actually just trolling this board?
  16. Darn it! Put a good swing on it and tatooed it. Just right at the 2B
  17. If Brinson is the CF of the future, then I imagine Phillips would be more valuable in RF than in LF given his arm strength. Santana then would likely shift to LF. Of course, Braun isn't exactly old yet, either, so that may be further down the line. I suppose it is possible that Braun could transition to 1B as well, although that is sort of a waste of his athleticism. As for the comparison of Phillips to Schafer, I think Phillips was always touted as a more dangerous run producer. Schafer was touted as a top- or bottom-of-the-order type with the speed to steal bases, but never hit for much power. Very similar to Dave Krynzel. Phillips was touted as more of a 5-tool prospect, perhaps lacking in the contact department if anything.
  18. Why can't the Brewers ever have nice things? I think this locks Anderson into the #1 spot, with Davies at #2, Woodruff at #3 at probably Suter at #4. My bet is Stearns will make a trade for a decent to good starter during the offseason, with several of the aforementioned guys being bumped down. If not, we'll see guys like Wilkerson, Jungman, or maybe even Burnes or Freddy Peralta get shots next year. If there is a silver lining, if Nelson's rehab goes well, he's going to be one heck of a mid-season addition to the rotation.
  19. Where has it been stated that Wilkerson is even pitching in this game? I missed that part. If he isn't making this start, exactly what start do you think he's going to make? Him not starting today is a crystal clear indication that he isn't being brought up to start but to pitch in relief. Whether it's today, tomorrow, whenever...it will be in relief. I really shouldn't have had to spell this out for you...should have been very easy to piece together yourself. This is actually really funny now. Especially the condescending overall tone. It's almost like Counsell made the decision to start Wilkerson tonight just to spite you
  20. Bumgarner - No way would that happen Moore - Ever since he's stopped throwing his slider, he's no better than Matt Garza in his current state. We're going on 3 years now of Moore not being a good pitcher. #5 starter at best when you take him out of his pitcher-friendly ballpark. No thanks. Stroman - Won't be worth his price, IMO. I was only making an attempt to look at the solid rotational pieces currently owned by bad or rebuilding ball clubs. Aaron Nola from the Phillies or Urena from the Marlins would be great upper rotation trade candidates as well. Also Cobb or Archer from Tampa Bay, or Jason Vargas from KC would be fits. Nola would be a great "get", but would cost a lot, if he is even available. But he is young and controllable for several seasons, and would provide the #1-2 upside that would put the team in pennant contention.
  21. You are right, and perhaps this team does have the starting pitching depth to go 7-8 deep in solid arms for next season. Perhaps I'm jaded, though, by the historical reputation this team has for not being able to grow solid pitching for a sustainable period. I know if Melvin were still the GM, he'd likely be looking to make an offseason rotation splash. Stearns doesn't have much of a track record to look at, though. All I'm saying is that if they chose to go the trade route to fill out the rotation, the minor league depth is there to absorb it without emptying the cupboard.
