Thank you for the well thought-out response. I actually agree with much of what you are saying here in theory, but it is difficult to put into practice, given the financial parameters the Brewers are forced to operate under.
As for doing it when it counts the most, this current iteration of the team hasn't had that opportunity yet. It would certainly be nice to have more proven "clutch performer" types in this lineup, those guys aren't exactly readily available often, and when they do, they demand a premium. The Brewers, instead, need to hope (or maybe even pray) that the Pratts, Laras, and even the Vaughns and Bauers of the world have a little clutch in them.
