  1. I’d like to see them play well but not concerned about wins at all. Just want them to be getting ready for playoffs. But to be fair, Yelly has the 11th best OBP post all star game, ahead of only Narvaez and JBJ. And has been slugging under .400 all year. I’d love for him to bounce back, but putting him in big spots jeopardizes our ability to score runs, which will be tough to come by against better teams.
  2. I’d blame others if Yelich contributed. Other than JBJ, he’s our worst offensive option in the OF statistically. And our worst defensive option unless Peterson is included. They gotta stop hoping he turns it around. And only one person rolled over a GIDP with the bases loaded. I think it’s ok to saddle him with this one. That said, the performance by Freddy (as well as Williams) were more important than the outcome.
  3. Seriously. We need to get him used to hitting 7th if he has to play. Do it for the kids. And the playoffs. He’s not coming back this year.
  4. Piggybacking seems like a good idea. Maybe they try not to pitch houser in games 2 or 3. And try to hold Ashby in case peralta gets into trouble. Like how the pitching sets up. Bradley is really just a defensive replacement. If he is getting plate appearances something has gone very wrong.
  5. I wonder if they’ll need 14 position players to have enough bats off the bench. And left handed starters can be tough for them. I could see something like the following: Starting Pitchers Woodruff Burnes Peralta Lauer (since some other teams struggle with lefties too) Right handed Relievers Williams Boxberger Cousins Strickland Houser Left handed Relievers Hader Suter Ashby Catchers Narvaez L Pina R Infielders Tellez L Vogelbach L Wong L Adames R Urias R Escobar S Outfielders Yelich L Cain R Garcia R Taylor R Utility Peterson L Leaves one spot for Anderson (LHP), Norris (LHP), Bradley (LH OF), or Reyes (RH IF). Pretty flexible team.
  6. Am I the only one who thinks Arcia alone is way too much to give for 2 months of Machado? This would be the definition of selling low. I agree with you. Way too early to give up on the kid. He was really valuable last year. Not really a surplus position either. I'd be OK giving up outfielders and non-Burnes pitching.
  7. If Santana could have hit the ball, we could be Draking them right now.
  8. He did have that run scoring “double” in the Marlins series.
  9. Which is why the Shaw bunt made no sense. Domingo cannot be counted on to put the ball in play. Runner on third with less than two out, he’s not the guy you want up.
  10. We don’t need another utility infielder. Bring up someone useful.
  11. I’m Ok if Davies gets out of this innning and is done. Can’t find the strike zone.
  12. Is it just me or has Braun hit a ton of weak grounders very early in the count this year? Weak contact and not making the pitcher work is very unsexy.
  13. Domingo Santana is 2nd on the team in plate appearances but tied for 13th in extra base hits with Jorge Lopez, Dan Jennings and Ji-Man Choi. Santana also has eight times as many strikeouts as RBI. Eric Thames has more of both walks and homers than singles, doubles and triples combined. 5 of the active bullpen guys have ERAs under 2. And only Drake is above 4. Without the disaster inning, he’d be under 2 as well. The bullpen has over half of the team’s wins and only 1/3 of its losses. Of the full season starters, only Chase Anderson has a lower ERA than two members of the bullpen. Only Josh Hader has converted more than half his save opportunities. While Jonathan Villar has struggled in the field, his fielding percentage is still higher than that of Hernan Perez. Even with the disaster inning, Oliver Drake has a lower WHIP than Jhoulys Chacin.
  14. We do it with Santana in right and Thames at first but you hardly hear a peep about those two when errors are made. It is what brought me to Villar's bandwagon. An above replacement level OPS covers a multitude of sins.
  15. For defensive purposes, it would be great to have another outfielder on the roster.
  16. This baseball game seems to really be inconveniencing Domingo.
  17. The batter calling time out saved a run at least.
  18. I would like him better if he was better at baseball.
  19. It seems like it’s time to get an OF from Colorado Springs. The OFs are too banged up. And then they’d have guys on the bench that can hit. Since Sogard is the only guy with options, he’d be the guy sent down even though he’s on a big league deal.
